Sensational NT must do
ก.ย. ค.ศ. 2021
Recently returned from enjoying a challenge and thoroughly remarkable 9 days exploring about 50% of the trail over 9 days. Each day presented us with unique natural wonders blended with rocky challenges. Though many spectacular spots are accessible for those not willing to don the hiking boots and backpacks - this is a serious must do!

An experience to never forget!

This was an amazing experience I booked through intrepid with two amazing guides Anne and Hayley and an equally awesome driver/guide Arty. They looked after our group with humour, caring and encouragement. Sleeping under the stars i our open swags I thought would be a challenge as it was cold overnight, getting down to 1C, but it was just wonderful to see the stars and going to sleep by an open fire was special. The hiking was spectacular, especially the last challenging day hiking up Mt Sonder for the sunset. Tough but well worth getting up at 3.30am! Highly recommend this 5 day/4 night trip. It’s challenging but lots of fun. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time!!
Thanks to the terrific guiding team!

Sleeping under the stars a wonderful experience.Maddie, the driver and support also excellent. The meals etc were tasty and plentiful . Anne and Maddie were informative and engaging at all times.

Larapinta trek

The whole experience was a fantastic one. Our guides Abby and Lewis were two of the most considerate and passionate young people about what they do that I have ever met. They were very knowledgeable about fauna and the birds in the areas. They both gave us time to reflect and listen and be one with nature. The food was wonderful and so much that there was plenty for seconds. Deserts were a big highlight they were all yummy. The tents were good the beds were comfy plenty of hot water for showers. The guides were very concerned about our safety and made sure that we were always guiding us the best ways to go and giving out a radio to one of us so that if we got ahead they could contact us and ask us to stay where we were till they caught up so we were always in sight of them. Would recommend this trip very highly.

Treklarapinta - Amazing Larapinta Trail experience!
ก.ค. ค.ศ. 2021
We just finished a 6 day/5 Night supported trek on he Larapinta trail. My wife an i are in our late 50's.
I have told friends and family that the tour was a life experience in that it connected us to one of the most beautiful parts of Australia and the world in many unique ways:
1.      The itinerary was carefully curated to showcase the most amazing sections of the trail with days structured to start early, provide regular rest and refuelling breaks and delicious lunches on the trail.
2.      The campsite we retired to at the end of each day was thoughtfully designed to exert a light touch on the surrounding environment.  The eco-features of bird baths, compost toilets and heavy recycling were in sync with the ethos of the tour which was to “leave only footprints and take only pictures”, which I guides were expert in leading.
3. The accommodation provided were very comfortable tents with the option to sleep under a wide clear sky full of stars in swags, which I enjoyed every night.
4. The trek guides really made the experience. Jennifer a 15 year experienced guide and leader in particular demonstrated her expertise in so many ways including expert knowledge in all things indigenous culture, plant, bird and animal life and geology. She was exceptional in terms of empathy and observational skills keeping close oversight on the trekkers for signs of feet or other walking issues and was quick to offer support and remedies (regular feet rescue treatment) at all times.
5. The 3 regular meals a day and snacks were restaurant grade. With dinner consistent of Barra fillets, delicious goat curry, risotto, Kangaroo fillets etc….every meal was delicious and fresh. No mean feat given it all had to be catered prior. Having an option to have a cold beer after each days trek and a wine with dinner (self catered) was also a nice touch.
6. The other trekkers in our group were also great in terms of how we worked together, stayed together on the track and shared stories around the camp fire at night.
This was our first outback trek and given how professional it was in all regards, we will be recommending this as a five star experience and look forward to another trek soon.

One for the bucket List!! This is a must see place for anywhere in the world....
มี.ค. ค.ศ. 2021
I must admit, it was only earlier this year I actually FOUND OUT about this place, when I saw an article listing it as one of the Top 10 Walks in the World - so I had to see it for myself. I also had no idea of the significance of the land and how OLD it is. That I wont mention here - you have to do the tour and see it for yourself.

I did the 7 day tour with 100% Adventure - and it was a wonderful experience sleeping on the Trail and watching the Sunrise and the Sunset - on this spectacular vastness.

Again - this is a must see - one for the bucket list.

World Expedition's 6-day Larapinta in Comfort
ก.ค. ค.ศ. 2021
Just returned from a 6-day Trek with W.E./Australian Walking holidays.
Would I recommend walking the Larapinta trail? ABSOLUTELY
Would I recommend joining the Classic Larapinta Trek with Australian Walking Holidays/W.E.? ABSOLUTELY NOT
So what went wrong?
1. “Guaranteed Departures”: The trips are in no way guaranteed to depart as they are still subject to last minute numbers due to border closures. It is very misleading and deceptive to lead the customers to believe so. FYI: I received my final confirmation less than 48 hours before my flight to Alice Springs.
2. Guiding: The most inexperienced guides are often used on the 6-day trips and it showed. Unfortunately our guides were not only inexperienced but also failed to work as a team. The friction was apparent from the start and we were made to feel like an inconvenience to them. In addition, the guides had limited knowledge of the area, e.g. fauna and flora, geological features, indigenous history and culture. So if you would like any information, you should do your research prior. The guided tour with an Indigenous local at Standley Chasm we were supposed to have did not happen.
3. Safety: Safety was another issue as the guides had minimal concerns for the walkers’ comfort and safety. At no point of the walk was consideration given to walkers at differing pace. The group was so spread out that if you were a medium paced walker, you were rarely in contact with the guides at either end. We were repeatedly advised for safety reasons, the climb up Mount Sonder in darkness must be done as a group and at the pace of the slowest walker. At no point was this done in practice. As the last walker in the faster group, I noticed that there was often a gap of 50m between the faster and slower group. This makes it extremely difficult for the first person in the slower group to see the trail. After repeatedly informing our lead guide (3 times) to no avail, I ended up leading the slower group all the way up the mountain. There was no guiding on the way down and we were told to make our own way and meet at the bus. One walker tripped and rolled down the mountain, sustaining a bruised face, 2 black eyes and a ruptured knee ligament (2nd incident on this trip). If you were on your own, you prayed nothing bad happens in the 3.5 hour decent.
4. Food: Food was tasty however inadequate. The portions of dinner could easily fit on a bread plate and there was no chance for seconds-you would only find empty pots. So to the average or above eaters, bring extra food supplies. One guide went into Alice Springs on the third day while we were at a hike, but still failed to top up food supply, so it must have been a budget issue.
5. General cleanliness: Nothing I would consider Covid safe. Masks on bus but not enforced. Hand sanitiser provided but not enforced. No hand washing prior to food prep observed. Food was served buffet-style. Worst drop toilets found on the whole trip were the ones at camps.
This tour comes under “Great Walks of Australia” but it is clearly not on par with the others in the group (Cradle Mountain Huts Walk, 12 Apostles Lodge Walk etc.)

Not for the faint-hearted
มิ.ย. ค.ศ. 2021
Did a 14-day end-to-end trek from Alice Springs to Mt Sonder with WayOutBack, covering about 230 km in the process. It was a fabulous experience. The 14 days included a rest day (when some of the party headed back to Alice Springs for some basic supplies like new, replacement boots), while the last day was more of a half day, a circuit of the Ormiston Pound walk, followed by a BBQ and the drive back to Alice. We started with 13 hikers, ended with 12 with one dropping out after day 1. This trek is not for the faint-hearted, nor the unfit or ill-prepared. Three guides in total, one lasted a bit over a day while a second made it through to day #13 and failed to front for the assault on Mt Sonder. Existing issues with legs and feet, exacerbated by the rough track and the daily slog cut short their tours. Our group was lucky in that the Larapinta landscape was in wonderful shape in June 2021, full of colour and life after the big rains earlier in 2021. A huge change from the drought and fire regimes of the previous few years, apparently. So, the bush looked lush, brightened by many stands of colourful wildflowers and many, many flocks of budgies and zebra finches. Unfortunately, sightings of other birds not so numerous - aside from the crows and Willie Wagtails. (A real highlight was some Black Cockatoos and Major Mitchell cockatoos, both sightings near the Finke River). Sightings of raptors, mammals and reptiles were very rare indeed.
The scenery we encountered every day was grand on an unimaginable scale, often breathtaking. The star-lit night skies were wondrous as well.
Very happy with the tour company: they transported our baggage between campsites, provided tents and swags and, vitally, provided our evening meals and breakfasts. as well as food for lunches and snacks. No-one in the group went hungry, or suffered malnutrition. The efforts and imagination that went into putting our food on the table at the end of each grueling day was pretty impressive. And the permanent campsite at 'Camp Larapinta' for a second week worked well, given we had 3 or 4 very early, pre-dawn starts.
I could go on. But if you are looking at taking on the Larapinta end-to-end, take things like your preparation (ie rigorous training) and the quality of your gear seriously. This is a very rewarding experience, but with a couple of 30-km plus days plus some arduous ascents and descents, it is very demanding in terms of the fitness and stamina levels needed. Come prepared and you will be richly rewarded.

World Expedition's Larapinta in Comfort 6 day walk
มิ.ย. ค.ศ. 2021
Just completed the 6 day Larapinta in comfort walk with World Expeditions. What a fantastic experience. Had 4 wonderful guides, Jaz, Steph, Katie and Rudy. Their team work, leadership skills, knowledge of the land, culture and geology was fantastic. Big hats off to their cooking skills on the campfire every night!! Amazing!
The facilites are great. Tents that we could stand up in, comfy mattresses on cots. Hot water showers!! The donkey heating system worked well!!
The bus needs a new AC and batteries!!!
Would highly recommend this walk and this company.
Thanks guys!!!

Trekked four of the trails. Some are physically and mentally challenging however they were all worth the pain. The spirit of the land is palpable. Well worth doing.
