A breathtaking and serene view of Lake Wivenhoe and Wivenhoe dam. A beautiful recreation area is available nearby for family picnics, a few meters from the lake.

Absolute paradise

After spending two weeks at this amazing lake. There are two camping areas, one has powered sites and very clean amenities. The other is more designed for campers with camp kitchen, bbq and amenities. Both sites have lake views and access to lake for boating and kayaking. The fauna is amazing - from the kangaroos and Joeys to possums and sugar gliders. Thoroughly recommend Lake Wivenhoe.

Having this place recommended as a nice get away from the city, being so close to the city gives it just that little bit more magic. There are lookouts and some tracks to hike around the dam.
The way the sunsets over the water, the beauty of the surrounding area, it is a place that everyone should take the time to visit.
Our backyard is something special indeed!!

Damn Nice Dam Camping

I was a newbie at the Campground but glad I stopped there for a couple of nights. It’s off the main highway, so that was the attraction.
Powered sites available with your own water and concrete slab. Some sites have wonderful dam water views. To get these I’m sure it’s best to book. There are other camping areas at the dam with different facilities available.
Very peaceful to be there but the birds remind you it’s their place too. Kangaroos lounging around as well. I was there during the week but maybe a bit of noise from boats out on the water at weekends and school holidays.
Great amenities with hot showers, sealed roads everywhere, no shop so bring everything you will need.
Payment is required at office, just a couple of hundred metres down a separate road (sign posted) after entering through the main gate, before proceeding to campground.
If in the area in the future then I’ll be back.

A few of us took kayaks down to the dam .. we had a most excellent day out. Very scenic and natural.

It is pretty impressive driving along the dam wall and seeing the water stretch away to one side and see the valley on the other. There are plenty of day use areas along the banks

Picnic Under Shady Trees With Beautiful Vistas

We drove to the Wivenhoe dam as part of a round trip of the area, stopping off for a picnic at the dam under its shady gum trees. There are extensive grounds to picnic and lots of space, a good place to let children run around. There are facilities for those who would like to canoe on the dam as well. We were able to relax gazing out over the water. I would only come to this place to picnic

Stunning Sunsets

We stayed at Lumley Hill on a site overlooking the dam. It was school holidays but the camp ground was quiet. Evenings were delightful and the view of the sunset over the dam was stunning. Magpies and other bird life could be a problem, probably a result of people feeding them. Overall a great stay.
