Two sides to every story; it's very expensive if you want to be sure of a seat. a package bought early is the only guarantee of a seat and you won't know then if your team will be playing.
If you follow Jet78948 advice, you will not be sure of success in the allocation and that only happens if your team is in the final.
For football tragics, this is the day of the year and you just pay what it takes and make the most of the day.
This will include the breakfast at the Crown (which is barely adequate) and perhaps the after-game parties.
Even though you may have heard Up There Cazaly countless times, it still sounds special.
It was hard to hear the entertainment this year, could barely hear John Williamson and Paul Kelly was the only one with impact.
And even though the game was one-sided, there is still a thrill being part of 100,000 spectators watching 2 gladiatorial teams.
You can pick the day apart for any reason but it is still the one day of the year, not to be missed by tragics.

Well Melbourne the home of AFL/VFL - what an amazing 2 days of good footy energies in September 2019!! The FRiday AFL GL parade was sensational -seeing our GWS GIANTS up close.. Great energies at GWS pubs near the MCG - thank you Melbourne

We paid $5,990.00 for 2 people for 3 nights at Novotel On Collins, a very disappointing and small breakfast at Crown Casino and two seats at the grand final on Saturday 28 November 2019. This was a very expensive package from AFL. Seats in hot sun disputes being a cold day, music and sound so badly distorted I could even make out what Paul Kelly was singing nor any announcements.
Join an small AFL club and try to get tickets only from its allocation if you are truly a fan else don’t bother. :(

Myself and five friends travelled down from Brisbane to attend the 2018 AFL Grand Final over about 4 days. We organised a package deal via the AFL Event Office. The package included attendance at the final, entry to the front bar (a private entertainment, food and drinks area outside of the MCG) and 4 nights accommodation. It is not cheap (just over $2,000) but the whole event and time in Melbourne was a sensation. The seats at the game were very good and the accommodation (Crown Plaza) was well placed to either walk or catch a tram in and around Melbourne. We did not have our team in the final, however, on the day it was a great game with high emotion. great atmosphere and we couldn't believe how entertaining it all was watching the Magpie and Eagles fans nearby going on a 3 hour emotional roller coaster ride. Do yourself a favour and put it on the bucket list like we did. No regrets, just a few hours of hangovers and many great memories of the GF, interesting people, great food and coffees. Well done Melbourne - you know how to put on a show!!

The game was great but equally was the parade the day before and soaking up the atmosphere in Federation Square and the walk to the MCG. Even if you don't have a ticket it's worth going to Melbouren for the weekend.

AFL Grand Final Day has to be the best sporting event in Australia...especially if your team are one of the two competing sides.
Tickets are extremely hard to get. Even if you are lucky enough to be a member of one of the teams playing off, you may have to hope you get an allocation of tickets from a ballot. If you choose a corporate package you are guaranteed a ticket but they are very expensive and you often have to buy weeks prior to the big day and so your team may not have made it through!
If you get through these hurdles then you will have an incredible experience. The excitement is electric and the noise is deafening! They have pre-game entertainment but do far I have never thought the quality of the acts provided have been any good.
The queues on the day for food, bars and the toilets are usually very long...so you need a lot of patience and best to come prepared with your own food! No glass bottles and no byo alcohol allowed!
If your team wins the elation is unmatched. If your team loses the devastation inconsolable.
If you unlucky and unable to get a ticket there are live sites at both Federation Swuare and outside the ground...there isn’t any entrance fee required for these.
For diehard fans there is also a free grand final parade the day before and this is combined with other outdoor live sites across the city!
Don’t miss it if you can!!

It's still the one day of the year but the game this year was better than most. The atmosphere is incomparable, hard not to get excited by 100,000 fans in one of the world's great stadiums.
But as a game where the result wasn't clear until the last few seconds, you can't ask for more.
Two great teams in an amazing spectacle - almost better though if you don't have any skin in the game. I enjoyed a wonderful game; Collingwood supporters were in tears for a game that was theirs to lose - walked the last few hundred metres from the exit next to a Pies supporter who was bawling the whole way, rivers of tears shows how seriously supporters take the game.
But as a game where the result wasn't clear until the last few seconds, you can't ask for more.

This was the worst value breakfast it has been my displeasure to attend.
Food was very poor quality and small in quantity. The entertainment was third rate or lower.
