Amazing tree canopy. Lovelly fern undergrowth. However, when we were there yesterday (Thursday) there was a putrid smell of something decomposing on the short ring walk!

Easy walk through an area of native Bush. I wouldn’t call it a big walk but you can do a few loops and enjoy all the bird song and amongst the trees. Worth the trip.

Beautiful bushland with tracks to walk around in. Sheltered and cold so a good activity on a hot day (unlike bushwalking in Australia)

The trekking is fun thing to do and among these gorgeous nature, the trekking becomes heavenly. It’s long trek but it’s worth your energy spent.

Close to town this place is awesome to take an easy stroll in the bush. We had a lot of fun with a 3 year old climbing up the roots of a fallen tree, and chasing him when he went off track. Having no wild animals (snakes, etc) it is quite safe to do this. Fun for a hour or three if you wish.

It's just a small track of native trees and bush in the middle of agricultural land, but as soon as you step in it, you'll feel like you're back in time. The trees are tall and beautiful, with ferns and palms underneath. It's a great little escape and walk just on the outskirts of Gisborne.

We saw this place as we drove into Gisborne but only went there because our tour guide took us there and WOW! What a stunning place! Very romantic too!

Located a few minutes outside Gisborne, this is an amazing free attraction. This is how the area looked before European settlement when it was all native bush. It is a small area of bush but full of bird life and beautiful trees. The walking trails are relatively flat and quite easy you can walk around it at a leisurely pace in half an hour to 45 mins. It feels a world away from everything, then pop out on the other side by a well cultivated field,

We've only been to the reserve briefly but plan to go back as often as possible to soak up the native bush atmosphere, Lots of wildlife.
