We had great day visiting the Institute. To be fair, we had a private guide-he was so well informed and we learned so much about the Maori people. We spent about 5 hours there, including a special lunch which was wonderful. Watching the craft people and the geyser and just seeing the beautiful setting. All very worthwhile and very enjoyable.

Das Dorf liegt mitten in einer geothermisch aktiven Landschaft und hat auch ein Kiwihaus [in dem wir sogar endlich einen Kiwi sahen]. War lehrreich und voll interessant.

La mise en scène est très touristique. Les artistes sont souriants mais rien de naturel, tout est étudié. Le buffet-repas présenté à la fin du spectacle est un peu "rock and roll". Rien à voir avec les spectacles Maori présentés en Polynésie française.

Being a sculptur myself I was very interesting in the Maori art and the making of it. The institute shows you in depth the way the art is being made. Many is for sale. We talked to various artists and I even started making my own Maori art.

My 14 year old daughter, Helena, and I went to New Zealand for a fortnight and visiting Rotorua was one of the highlights of the trip! There was a Maori dance (haka) show and we got to taste good made on special ovens, it was all a wonderful experience. I know for a fact that I want to go back to Rotorua and so does my daughter

Visited in December 2019. Wonderfully-presented show we could watch again and again! Outstanding singers and performance. Arts and crafts were interesting. Carvings were amazing. What artists the Maori are! A Beautiful culture we'd love to live with but can't! Would love to attend again on a future trip! Opens up history and culture we were never aware of!

A little touristy but worth a visit. The cultural school workshop was very good. There’s also trails to see mud ponds and even a geyser. Lots of carvings all around.

I plan to join an one way tour to Rotorua form Auckland. Please advise how I can travel from the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute to city centre of Rotorua after the tour.
We look forward to visiting NZ soon.

We were on a tour so getting back to the city wasn't a problem, I am sorry but can't therefore tell you about any public transport or taxi options although it is not a long coach ride it might be just a bit too far to walk.
