We did turn up late, hour and a half before closing time, but stores that were still here even during the very cold winds I was very impressed.

We were there for the last couple of hours on a Sunday in August. No problem parking. Vendors were OK. You may find some bargains. The food vendors and entertainment were the highlight.

This is advertised as the biggest weekend market. We come from Australia where the weekend markets are huge and has loads to offer. So we were quite disappointed to arrive and find a few rows of stalls which we completed browsing in 20 mins. We do give it the benefit of the doubt, perhaps the Covid meant a loss of many normal stall holders?
However, there are lovey international cuisines available at reasonable price. The kids loved the Swirl potatos and garlic naan bread. I also recommend the little japanese food truck which sells takoyaki and dango. They do have a jumping castle for young children and live music for adults. Just remember to bring some cash as some stalls only take cash.

This used to be a big market with lots of stalls, but it seems to be losing quality vendors year on year. As we live close by it's a convenient place for us to have lunch on Sunday, but wouldn't bother going otherwise.

We were lucky enough to be in Christchurch on a Sunday and made our way out to Riccarton. Why? We love a market. This is one of my favourite types of markets where most of the stalls are selling second hand goods or items they have made themselves. There are also plenty of stalls and vans selling great food and coffee. I challenge you to leave this market without buying anything. It is also a fabulous setting with most of the stalls under a canopy of huge trees.

We did a long and costly trip from the town having too high expectations. The market was a big disappointment - it's a mix of low quality stuff with very expensive crafted products, dubious street food and second hand objects.

Love markets and was so disappointed with these markets. Great food stalls but majority of the others were secondhand stuff, bric a brac. Minimal local craft. Done in 20 minutes and bought nothing. Plenty of parking, well laid out.

A great place to visit whether you live locally or are a visitor to Christchurch. Easy to find with loads of parking and loads of stalls to walk around. A huge variety of things to buy and eat. We loved the hangi stall, where we could sit down at a set table! If we lived locally we would be regular visitors.

Even though it was a drizzling gray morning we really enjoyed this place. Huge range of items for sale from antiques to produce , books, tools,crafts. A real treasure trove. I was very pleased with my purchase of an antique book in great condition and for very good price. Fabulous.
