Hi traveler. When I traveled I was in a heavy electric wheelchair but had only one overnight bag as did my two friends. Most others were from Christchurch and traveled back on the return train the same day. I/we stayed the night and traveled back the next day. I would say that most travelors had almost no luggage. I think that the train company want people to continue to use the service and are only covering themselves so staff don't have heavy bags to lift AND no commercial freight to contend with. In my opinion your personal luggage should be quite acceptable. Dont ask them too many questions as that will give them the opportunity to to say NO, just get a'board and enjoy the trip. Get a window seat for pictures and visit the outdoor viewing carriage. Sit on the other side coming back to see the other scenery. Enjoy the food and drink too. Enjoy the whole trip.

yes you can and I also suggest you get there an hour before hand and ask for a seat on the right handside of the carriage

There is no parking at the station. You can park at Top 10 Holiday Park, 2 Chesterfield St or Central Motorhome Park, 119 Tainui Street.

If you are carrying luggage, I would recommend Uber
