We always try to check out the local churches when travelling regionally as they tend to be really beautiful with great architecture. This example in Armidale is really beautiful and it is a large Cathedral with mosaic floor tiles. A man who was outside the church when we were there have a detailed description and pointed out some of the architectural elements of the church.

This cathedral is a whopper with a colourful exterior and huge and awe inspiring interior. Not to be missed. As always the Catholic cathedral outscores the more dour St Peters Anglican Cathedral across the road - but both are worth a visit.

I attended Sunday morning's 0800 AEDT Mass in this beautiful Cathedral.
The young Filipino Parish Priest and the Indian Assistant Priest were excellent, the organist skilled, the small choir great and the lovely older lady who greeted attendees at the entrance terrific.
Attendance was about 80 to 100 that given the early hour was impressive. There were many teenagers and some families with younger children.
Toilets were available to the side of the Cathedral.
Mass finished at 0850 AEDT so was not too lengthy.

Enjoyed the ability to appreciate the architecture of this cathedral and enjoy its beauty. An easy walk from where we stayed we enjoyed walking around the building and was able to also enter and have a look inside.

The church was pointed out whilst on our Guided Heritage Tour by bus around Armidale and we decided to visit the next day to see the interior. It is a beautiful church and worth a quick visit to get an appreciation of the building.

They don't build them like this anymore! This cathedral is a magnificent example of the how these types of buildings were constructed centuries ago. High vaulted ceilings with lovely stained glass windows and an intricate internal woodwork. Overall a fantastic place to visit and well worth the time you spend. Please remember to treat the place with the respect it deserves.
