we drove specially to this cave to hear that it is closed! They can't tell when it is going to be open again. Reason: since the earthquake it is to dangerous to go inside

We have driven past the cave on the way up and down the Kaikoura Coast many times but this time decided to stop and investigate. So glad we did! It was well worth the visit. Alastair our guide was knowledgeable and informative. A memorable visit and well worth the $25 entry fee

Fascinating experience with a side of great humor

What a fascinating 45 minutes. Our guide Barry was a wealth of knowledge who delivered such a great commentary full of facts and wonderful humor that kept you engaged the whole time. Who knew there was such a hidden gem in Kaikoura. Well worth taking the time to visit.

Well worth the stop, the tour is about 45mins and very reasonably priced. Our tour guide Nick was a great down to earth kiwi bloke, it was just my partner and I and he was easy to talk, very knowledgeable and had plenty of jokes. The cafe is also nice and does excellent coffee

Having driven past this site hundreds of times over the years we decided to do the tour while staying in Kaikoura for the weekend. We were both impressed by the cave and the tour guides knowledge.

A wonderful experience

I took my 2 grandchildren age 4 and 6 years and was really surprised at how well the guide held the interest of the children throughout the tour. He was most informative at a level easily understood. The caves were absolutely fascinating with most beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. The history of the caves was most interesting and the guide provided a really professional presentation. A trip well worth making. Would recommend to anyone to take the time to visit this site.

A Fascinating Experience

We went on a guided tour of the Maori Leap Cave with Nick, our guide. This is a fascinating cave with some formations that are only found in a couple of other caves in the world.
I am a little claustrophobic but the height of this cave made it a comfortable experience and the walk through was very easy. Nick pointed out some interesting formations while giving us the history of the cave.
This is an attraction I would thoroughly recommend as it shows what can be formed by the sea.

This is a really personal tour. It was only our family in the cave so you can go at your own speed and ask all the questions you like. Our guide was obviously very enthusiastic about the cave. It is one of only three sea caves in the world so there are many unique features. The kids loved the fact that our guide showed us the Tooth Fairy's palace and formations that looked like bacon and the Statue of Liberty.
