While the drive to the national park from singleton filled with remarkable scenery, last 10kms is a gravel road and we had to turn back within 3ms to Youngvile campground because our 2wd wasn't suitable to go any further. (In dry weather conditions). Recent heavy rain seems to have caused considerable damage to the road.

It is not the 2020 wildfires that the Park is recovering from- it is one from 2018. Fortunately the 2018 fire got rid of some of the underbrush so in 2020 the park was relatively untouched. You can see some remnants of 2018 along the base of trees but the park is recovering nicely. Note this is the 2nd oldest national park in the world behind Yellowstone in the US.

A lovely pub conveniently situated on our way to the sites and treks of the national park. It was very hot with no air conditioning in the room - that's ok, but a fan would have made it more tolerable. Beautiful crisp clean sheets. Our meals were great but we had to cover them with a serviette whilst we ate to keep the flies off.

Went to the dam, do not recommend the toilet stop as I found a big brown snake inside and had to resort to going bush style in that department otherwise a beautiful drive and lovely scenery with some good photo opportunities.
