Lovely memorial in a nice location opposite the Apollo Bay Distillery. Definitely worth a look when in area. Lest we forget.

The Apollo Bay War Memorial was erected in 1922 to commemorate the local men and women who volunteered for active service during the First World War.
The Memorial is historically important in illustrating the widespread involvement of ordinary people in the war, and in recording the loss of life and suffering which affected the local community.
You will see this when you drive through because it's on a very prominent corner in the township. I can imagine an Anzac Day here with the community out ... it would be brilliant to be part of it .

I feel that by visiting memorials when in another country, it helps you understand the people better. Ok I know it's Austrailia but I still like stopping!

Originally erected to commemorate those who lost their lives in WW1. Later updated to also include those who lost their lives in WW2. Prominent location at the top of the Main Street. Have been here for an ANZAC Day service in the past. Respectfully decorated with colourful flowers.
