It is a large square with a major war memorial, but there are lawns, shade trees, an impressive playground, public toilets, and it is surrounded by cafes and other eating spots. If you are passing through it is probably the place to stop.

The positives were the large open area in the center of the town and of course the purpose of the memorial which adds to the character of Colac The memorial opened in November 1924 and is an impressive sand-stone structure and primarily dedicated to WW1 veterans. Otherwise it was a fairly standard town square.

Visited on Tuesday 18th February, we were passing through Colac and stopped here for a break. Plenty of parking, clean toilet block. Went for a walk around the park checking out the War Memorial there as well.

A brief visit around Colac Memorial Square on Saturday morning 31/08/19, the square is literally just across the road from the main shopping area of Colac.
The Square is full of history & the grounds and monuments are well maintained.
A square full of history & we should never forget our fallen comrades.
Also this square attracts many locals & families for relaxation picnic & playful area's for children.

The Memorial square is a place of great meaning where all can feel close to fallen comrades The building gives a sense of respect and inner comfort due to the high esteem the area is held in
The township use this area to carry out family outings and community markets
I highly recomend a visit as you will feel the peace and respect in this area

This town square is in the middle of town on the main highway so its difficult to miss. It really is worth a quick stop to visit a very nice memorial to the areas war fallen a nice place to stop and have a walk and stretch your legs, there are a number of cafes and bakeries across the road to allow you to grab a snack and enjoy the park.

What an awesome place to hang out and do just about anything you like. You got the great lawns and atmosphere for a picnic, with toilets available, a taxi rank, all the shops and eating places you could ask for in the dead centre of town. You could not ask for more. Did a great photo shoot with my girl friend by the fountain and Shrine.

Well kept and maintained memorial, easy to find in the middle of town, close to the shops. The gardens are well looked after. There are many places to sit and reminiscence.

Stopped on the way through nice place to grab a coffee and a snack from the many bakeries and eateries nearby. Good public toilets and playground for the children.
