Lovely wetlands to walk around really enjoyed. Easy walking track and great bird watching areas to sit in

Not enough parking if busy the walk was nice on the riverside with a lot of shade from the sun the other side was unshaded so not as pleasant even at 530pm .

any person who says that this is 'unloved' missed the point. this is a perfect spot to appreciate the web of life. Pathways are gravel sheeted and edges are mown. from there, grasses seed to attract small birds, insect eaters etc.

Well worth a look whilst in Mudgee, although you probably wouldn't spend a huge amount of time here.

The birdlife was prolific judging by the calls and whistles and variety, but the weed outbreaks are shocking.
Those Scotch thistles seeding and that Patersons' curse, spreading uncontrollably, are a horrible sight to any Bush Regenerators! But having said that, it's possible that the Twitchers consider the weeds to be an advantage to the small wrens and waterbirds. The small degraded environment does look a bit ravaged, but the soundscape is quite heartening: currawongs, galahs, crested pigeons, wrens and red-browed finches could all be glimpsed and heard. So, prepare for a mixed conficted reaction...
The hides provide good viewing places, the walks are being improved with shade from native plantings, and the noisy miners and Indian Mynahs were barely about. But a wedge tailed eagle showed up, and possibly a red-rumped parrot pair? Too quick a flypast for me to be certain, but mebbe?

This could be an outstanding experience with the possibility of seeing platypus plus seeing and hearing so many native birds. !. Some of the paths are not very friendly for us older strollers. 2. It needs more signs. 3. the most disappointing thing here was the environment - It is overrun with weeds - Scottish thistles in clumps up to over 2 metres high, Patterson's curse growing everywhere and ponds covered in algae. Where are the environmental warriors???

Wetlands is an easy half to one hour flat walk with great views of the wetlands and surrounding shrubbery/trees and a huge range of bird life which you can see and hear

We decided to visit in the afternoon to catch the bird being active. So from 4-5:30 we wandering around and the bird calls were wonderful! We took binoculars and a camera with a good close up and my husband was able to snap unknown birds and check in them afterwards. Like the white plumed honey eater. And sacred kingfisher. The hides have excellent posters of local birds and there are lots of paths to meander along.

This place was a bit unexpected as it is a wetland on the edge of town. If you ignore the traffic sounds it's a nice walk around the wetlands.
