Fantastic views over Slovakia and beyond from the top of this mountain. Well-maintained, easy paths for walks along the ridge. A smooth, modern cable car is in operation to make it easy to reach the top.

Parking right next to the cable car station - EUR 10 per day. Cable car round trip 2 adults 1 child under 15 = EUR 79. Cable car ride silky smooth. You may buy the tickets via Gopass. Well organized, efficient, new transportation system. Halfway up the mountain you will have to switch to another line of cable cars going to the summit. At the halfway point there is a small restaurant/food truck type of place. At the top of Chopok the views are just spectacular! Also you may find a round style restaurant with 360 deg. views. I recommend to visit while being in the area.

In the morning at 9 a.m. we took the cable car to Chopok. The tickets are not the cheapest (over 80€ for 4), but we needed to make it to the ridge, including the part of the hike on the other side of the hill. First, we climbed a few tens of meters to the top of Chopok, from which there is a beautiful view (I also recommend the view from the terrace of the restaurant by the cable car). We continued along the red ridge over Demänovské and Krupová sedlo to Ďumbier. There were really many people, there was even a queue for taking pictures at the peaks. The path leads over stacked stones. Beautiful views of the surrounding valleys and other peaks. Then we returned to Krúpové sedlo and continued along the other side of the hill to Kosodrevina, first along the red road to the next fork, then along the blue road. Near the Kosodrevina station there is a small cable car museum (free). We took the cable car back up to Chopok, where we had something to drink. We continued with the second cable car down to Priehyb. From there we walked about 2.5 km to our apartment.
According to mapy.cz, the ridge is just over 10 km and 4 hours. The hike alone took us about 5.5 hours, including taking pictures, making love :-) and a break for food. Otherwise, including the cable cars and returning home from the hill, it's for the whole day.
