You are treated to a grand staircase right as you enter. That is where the greatness stops. It is all downhill from there. Staffs are downright rude, exhibits are not wow. Inside of this museum is like a gloomy cloudy day.

Beautiful venue

I'm a big fan of museums but art galleries do tend to leave me a little bit cold unless the pieces particularly jump out at me, but that's the thing with art, what I walk past could be the next persons favourite. My personal favourite area was the coin display of Latvian coins but the real highlight was the building itself with its sweeping stairs and impressive display halls.

I don't think this needs to be on your must do list, but if you find yourself at a lose end it does stay open late on Fridays so might be worth it a couple of hours before closing time.

Great museum! Quiet and with great exhibition! Some part of exhibitions were close, so the restaurant. And the shop was a bit small… that’s a shame. But free lockers and very lovely building!

Quiet place for contemplation. A mixed bag of art, depending upon your tastes but a nice place to spend an hour or two. The coin displays were magnificent though

We spent nearly 3 hours at the Latvian Museum of Art, lots to see, the exhibition on Vilhelms Purvītis, was incredible, some of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen, it's always good finding artists that you've never heard of before. It's definitely worth visiting this museum, if you appreciate good Art.
