One of the few distilleries in D.C. proper. They have a really amazing industrial space with a long bar with plenty of seating, and an atrium in the back. They had a cool takeout window during the pandemic which was great and added additional seating outside. You could even get drinks to go, not sure if they're still doing that. Friendly service, cool vibes. I think they're known for their rum production and rum based drinks. These are craft cocktails, not your typical bar drinks. Fun outing with friends and I think they do tours also.

Early this summer, went back to C & R with friends and like the last time, we were not disappointed with their cocktails. Server Bar B was friendly and new how to fix a mean drink ;)

On our walk from the Hampton Inn to Union Market we ducked into this bar not expecting to discover it was a rum distillery. The carefully crafted complex cocktails based on their own rum are amazing! Our bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and informative.

We recently sponsored an event at Cotton and Reed (in mock commemoration of Prohibition) and we're definitely coming back! The venue is fun, the staff (thanks Kyle, Megan, George, and Roxie) are also fun and accomodating, and the cocktails are both imaginative and delicious. Setting up and carrying out our event was very easy, largely due to how flexible and easy to work with the entire staff at C&R can be. We look forward to returning both privately and individually!

Recently opened rhum distillery. Fabulous cocktails. You can order those, or have shots to try their offerings. Also sell their different rhums by the bottle. Super staff. Great tunes and vibes!

This is a fantastic spot if you want to try delicious cocktails and get away for a bit. The vibes and music are really awesome. Went there with my best friend and we had a blast. To top it off they hook you up with goldfish crackers, LOL. Who doesn’t like goldfish??? PS I’d recommend this spot for dates, group of friends, and a place to host an event.

Stopped in for a drink on a Sunday afternoon after running across the place by accident. It looked really interesting and sure seemed to have potential! Saw the slushy machines, and asked the bartender what was in them. He didn't seem very interested in answering, and seemed almost irritated when I asked if I could have a taste...which he did begrudgingly provide. It was VERY tasty, so I ordered a full size drink. I asked him to tell us about their products (rums), but he walked off and never came back till I asked for the bill. Still no interest in telling us about their products. Business must be so good that they don't need to sell to an interested customer!!!

We came here yesterday after walking around Union Market at the suggestion of my son who lives in DC. I was excited the moment I saw the place, you could hear the music as we were approaching the building and it looked like a great place to stop and have a drink. The bar has a cool look, so we stepped up to the bar to order our drinks. There were eight of us and the bartender (I believe his name was Drew) seemed annoyed from the start. We all ordered our drinks and they were very tasty. We were listening to the music and enjoying ourselves, the bar was busy but not super crowded yet the bartender didn't stop by once to ask if we wanted another drink. He actually seem to go out of his way to avoid us. When we were done and we're heading out he and the other bartender gave us a very sarcastic good bye. A few of the people in our group work in the food/drink industry and they were baffled by the way we were treated. So I would give the venue and the drinks 5 stars, but the treatment we received forced me to rate the Cotton and Reed 2 stars

Spent a great couple of hours here one damp Saturday afternoon. Did the distillery tour, followed by a couple of drinks, and enjoyed every second of it! Cool vibes, coupled with great Rum and excellent tunes made for a relaxed afternoon. Across the road from Union Market too which is an excellent place for food too.
