We stumbled upon Tudor Place while walking around Georgetown and are so glad that we did. We walked through the gardens while we waited for our tour of the house to begin. They are a bit of a work-in-progress, but good for a stroll.
Inside the house, we were lucky to have a private tour by the docent, Christine. Not only was she knowledgeable about the history of the house and the families that lived there, but she had vast information about the furnishings and art.
We visited Georgetown and Tudor Place on the first day of our visit to DC and we found that the historical background that we got from Christine, was a great foundation for our subsequent visits to the White House and museums.

Walked in today hoping to visit the house. On Google the place was listed as open, however the website is not working. They do not allow you to visit the place in your own, only with guided tours. There is no schedule for the tours anywhere.

This is a small garden in the middle of bustling Georgetown. It is easy to imagine that it was an impressive estate in its early days. However, the grounds are small and easily covered in less than an hour. On our visit, part of the gardens was closed for a wedding so that made for an abbreviated visit.

so i have been here several times over the years. this trip i had 5 friends who i wanted to take, 4 of us had covid shoots and 1 didn't. we could not take the tour. even in dc i didn't have to show my shoot card anywhere i went in 7 days, or wear a mask for that matter. it will be a long time before i ever go back, if i do.

I had a great experience! It was kind of a shame that I was the only one there for my tour time, but it was also wonderful for me! Stacy was my guide, and she is extremely knowledgeable about the history surrounding the house, including the owners and the enslaved people who lived there. I ended up staying around 2.5 hours for the tour, and exploring the gardens.

In the Georgetown neighborhood the gardens are a hidden gem. We meandered through the property in about 45 min. Flowering roses and dogwoods provide color against the lush green landscape. I would suggest some pesticide free bug spray.

Interesting historic home with artifacts and furnishings from 6 generations starting with Martha Custis Washington's granddaughter. We attended the tour in conjunction with the Mother's Day tea. The tea was very pretty. However the tea tables were set with 3 tiers trays that included sandwiches, sweets and fruit. Unfortunately, the table was set for 4 and the servings of sandwiches didn't match which created some social awkwardness-- in other words how many sandwiches was someone allowed to try. It was also odd that the tea wasn't left on the table. We had to wait for someone to keep coming around to refill. Do they not have enough teapots? There was a short presentation in the tearoom and no one came to refill the cups. I think the advice I might offer to Tudor Place is to pay a little more attention to these details. Perhaps do the tour first and serve tea after so people can feel less rushed. Maybe get some additional teapots so people can pour themselves refills. Count the sandwiches and sweets out so that everyone at a table can try the menu. Some minor adjustments could have made for a 5 star review.

Belle maison et jardin bien entretenus. Cependant: accueil comme a l aeroport ( pass vaccination et passeport demandés), pas de visite libre donc obligé de suivre une visite guidées trop détaillée et sans intérêt à notre avis. En global, personnel pas agréable.

There is a 12 p.m. tour. Our tours are on the hour Tuesdays - Saturdays 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. and Sundays 12 p.m. through 3 p.m.
Free two hour street parking is available. If you need to make arrangements ahead of time for handicapped accessible parking please contact our visitor center at 202-965-0400.
The grounds have some brick pathways with small lips as well as pea gravel. Please call us and we can give you a better description for your trip planning.
