We had a good experience with Dream Yacht Charters out of Placencia. We had 2 family members as Captains, and the checkout process was convenient for them. Joann went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed for our 6-day sail.

Just returned from a 5 day sail out of the dream yacht charter base in Belize. We bareboat chartered a 2019 42 lagoon and sailed from placencia to a few of the various cays. Yoann is the base manager and was attentive to all of our needs and answered any question or concerns that we had. He went out of his way to provide us transportation to the local grocery store where we purchased provisions for the trip. His briefing of our catamaran was thorough and he helped us develop a sailing plan that worked for the amount of time we had and the activities that we wanted to do. We can tell that yoann is a hard working dedicated individual and goes above and beyond to ensure that all customers needs are met. We would definitely sail with dream yacht out of Belize again. Special thanks to yoann for all of your assistance with our amazing sailing vacation!

Picked up the catamaran, it was lovely.
We asked for a toaster they said yes, we did not get one.
Went on our way.
Then the battery would not change without the generator.
So when we turned the generator off at night the fridge and freezer did not work, so most the food went bad over the 5 days.
Then the Water ran out after day 2.
The staff basically said that it’s not a car and you should be the Mechanic and fix the problem yourself, because they give you a briefing before you leave,
Even know the part for changing the filter did not fit.
When something goes wrong you are on your own.
They don’t have a fast boat to deal with any problems, which they should have.

What a wonderful experience we had with DYC Placencia, Belize! Our time on board the L450F was truly enjoyed. The trip started well in advance during planning stage when Placencia base manager was already forthcoming with advice and information. The staff and manager of DYC base Placencia, Belize showed a keen interest in making our trip a grand experience. Especially the manager invested a lot of time to ensure we were comfortable with all tech systems. The briefing was excellent! The staff demonstrated ‘known issues’ - none of which serious - and showed a personal interest in making sure we are comfortable on board. The manager offered us a lot of detail info that clearly requires in depth knowledge and dedication (as well as a tech savvy crew to follow through…). The manager asked us to log any further issues found so he can rectify them ASAP on return to base. Our cat was found in ship shape condition. Yes, boats are boats, and we lost the stbd impeller during the trip. Tools, spares and instructions were on hand so the matter was resolved at sea within minutes. We provisioned ourselves directly from local stores and found everybody very helpful. Yes, it may be a small base, but the quality of service was truly excellent!

Great experience with George and the rest of the staff at DYC Belize. This was our fifth trip with DYC at various locations and as usual everything was good. We were on a 41 ft Bali. The boat was super clean and had the best fridge we have ever had. Can’t wait to go again next year.

We rented a catamaran sailboat with our crew of 10 and were very frustrated by the customer service and condition of the boat. Our crew has charted five different boats. We have two captains and experienced sailors and had researched extensively ahead of time. From the time we arrived, the managers were rude and unfriendly and questioned our ability to sail the boat and navigate the area. We ordered provisions ahead of time, but the managers did not check to make sure that we had everything on board. We spent the night on the boat in the marina and went to eat the first night. When we got back to the boat, we went through the provisions to see what was missing, and we realized none of our fruits and vegetables had been delivered. We told the managers when they arrived the next morning, and they admitted the grocery delivery from the market must not have arrived. They never apologized for this inconvenience. One of the managers spent over two hours going to get our vegetables and fruit, which caused us to miss out on a 1/2 day of sailing. Once we had our captain's meeting, we took off three hours behind schedule, and an hour into our trip, the boat started to have problems and the manager asked us to return so he could fix the engine. We ended up missing an entire day of sailing. Do not rent a boat from this company in the Placencia location.

I would give them a "0" if it were an option! Our bareboat sailing group has been on several charters over the past several years and have always had a great experience. This was our first time to use Dream Yacht Charter and I can guarantee that we will NOT be using the company again for any of our future excursions and I highly caution anyone looking into DYC Belize to reconsider. I could write an extremely long review (this one is just long!), but I will focus on 2 main concerns I had with DYC-Belize for your consideration, which are 1) boat maintenance, and 2) poor customer service. Let me begin by saying that as boating/sailing people, our group of 8 is not naive to the fact that things will go wrong with a boat and we have had our issues with other boats in the past. However, we have never lost confidence in a charter company and felt that we needed to abandon the charter. I cannot say the same of DYC-Belize, as our co-captains noticed some safety issues with our boat from the debrief (i.e., no wind direction indicator, issues with the battery voltage meters, and no chase boat to assist us in the case of any issues) and the issues only continued once we embarked. Despite these early concerns, we are an experienced crew and we were prepared to take the boat out only to have 2 more issues the next morning before we could even get to our first destination (i.e.,the port side engine quit running as we were pulling away from the dock- which had to be replaced; battery charge warning lights on the engines during the first hour of our trip- which ended up being the alternator). After motoring back to the dock for another hour, and having had 2 major issues with our boat, our crew determined that it would be unsafe for us to stay on the DYC boat at this point. Unfortunately, DYC has decided not to refund us for any part of our failed trip despite the fact that there were some major issues with their boat and any sane person would be concerned about going out on a boat after the issues we experienced. As if the boat and safety issues were not enough to railroad our sailing vacation, the treatment we received from the 2 men working for DYC-Belize was revolting. A sailing trip is not a cheap vacation by any means and we are 8 mature-aged working professionals (business owners, PhDs, and senior managers), but we were treated with extreme insolence from the moment we exited our taxi. We were chastised for the amount of alcohol we purchased (the same amount we have gotten on all previous charters) and the base manager went as far as gossiping to another customer about our alcohol order (one of our co-captains came up on the conversation). Not one of us was inebriated when we arrived at the dock, slept on the boat that evening, left the dock the next morning, or returned to the dock when we had the engine issues. We gave the base manager absolutely no reason to question our alcohol intake or ability to responsibly take the boat on a charter. Furthermore, the DYC did not have water on the provisioning list (the irony) and we had to figure out a way to get enough drinking water for a 6-day sail for 8 people. Then, before leaving the next morning, we realized that they had not fulfilled our entire provisioning order, as we were missing ALL of our fruits and vegetables (we cook almost all meals on the boat- these were key components to most of our meals). Needless to say, this trip started out very stressful and unpleasant. Luckily, we were able to salvage the vacation by booking with another charter company in the same area and although we lost some days on the boat, we stayed at 2 very accommodating resorts in Placencia. Other than the DYC crew and the damage to our pocketbooks, our experience in Belize and with the Belizean people was amazing.

Do not charter a boat from Dream Yacht!! Dream Yacht Charters may be a good place to charter a boat outside of Belize, but the Dream Yacht Charter company in Belize is abysmal. This is my fourth time to bare boat and the first and last time I will charter from Dream Yacht- ever! More like nightmare yacht charters. We chartered a boat from them because of the good ratings but they are clearly not in reference to Placencia, Belize. The office is dirty and an unorganized mess and it does not have the appearance of a typical charter company which is clean and welcoming with facilities for the patrons like showers and a decent bathroom. The staff (2 people) are rude and condescending and totally unprofessional. Definitely not what you want to greet when embarking on a very expensive vacation -we were treated horribly from the start. I can not stress enough how terribly the Dream Yacht people behaved. However, we were willing to get past that so we could just take off and be out on the ocean. It was in the afternoon when we arrived, so we planned to sleep on the boat in the harbor that night and leave the next morning early as we were all exhausted from travel. We were very surprised that they wanted us gone that night. As it turns out they did not provision the boat per the contract and we had to insist they bring us all our supplies. I can only assume they wanted us to leave before we discovered our missing supplies. We had to argue about how much water we requested for drinking. In the morning we planned to leave, they repeatedly delayed us - provisioning and for lectures (after the official briefing) while we had two experienced captains on the boat. We are not party-going spring breakers, but 8 middle aged professionals wanting a nice get away. We started to leave and the boat began having issues. One engine was not functional, then the other overheated, the alternator was not charging to keep the refrigerator working, etc. To make things worse, the two guys (whom I hesitate to call staff) said that if something happened they would not be able to come and assist us. Definitely not what any other yacht company has told us! We tried to take the boat out and then had to come back (2 hour ordeal) as the engine was still having trouble. We requested another boat but either they were not willing or able (who could tell) to provide us another boat. As a crew we made the difficult decision not go out, as ultimately we didn’t feel safe. Luckily Moorings next door were able to accommodate us so we booked and paid them. When we contacted Dream Yacht about a refund they denied our request. Unbelievable from a so-called worldwide company who should be able to afford to take care of their customers and hire competent staff. If not for Moorings and the amazing Belizean people we met everywhere, our vacation would have been a total loss. As it is, it cost double what it should have because of the incompetence and total lack of customer service skills on the part of Dream Yacht Charters.

Wow. Where do I start? We've been chartering for a few years now in different locations throughout the Caribbean, but this is our first experience with Dream Yacht. I began planning this trip more than a year in advance of setting sail. Sailing in Belize can be challenging, and in the interest of maximizing our time there and ensuring crew safety, I read everything I could get my hands on including thoroughly reviewing Rauscher. But from the moment we walked into the DYC base, our trip began to turn into a nightmare. The base manager, George, immediately began chastising me and my crew about the amount of alcohol we provisioned for our charter...using DYC's mandatory provisioning process no less. Let me be clear that I provided our provisioning order 2 weeks in advance of actually arriving with copy to George. Not only did he have nothing to say about our order then, but he actually didn't even respond when I followed up a week later to make sure he received it and asked if they had any questions or if there would be any shortages. That was just the beginning, because come to find out, after having inventoried the provisions they provided us, DYC completely failed to provide ANY of the fresh fruits and vegetables we ordered despite our having paid for them. Once we brought this to George's attention, it took them almost 2 hours to procure the items and bring them to us so we could actually leave the dock. Fast forward to the boat debrief when my co-captain and I learned that (1) the wind direction indicator and battery voltage meters weren't working and (2) DYC didn't have a chase boat, so if we had a problem during the charter, they likely wouldn't be able to get to us soon, if they could get to us at all. Every charterer has experienced some problems but to send us out with KNOWN ISSUES seemed a little worrisome if not completely unprofessional. Still anxious to leave however and finally provisioned, we untethered only to find the port side engine no longer running and no longer turning over at all. With one engine functional, we managed to make our way back to the dock only to have to wait ANOTHER hour as George replaced a set of contactors which were preventing the engine from starting. Now FINALLY heading out and after having motored 9 miles toward our first destination, we began receiving battery charge warning lights on both engines. I called back to the base to speak with George. He wanted us to return to the base. We did only to find that the port side alternator had ALSO failed. Two major mechanical failures in the first 2 hours of the charter and not a single sail yet lifted! The WORST part was that George was blaming the failure on us. He said I told him I was running the engines at 3000rpm (COMPLETELY untrue since I actually told him we had been running between 2000 & 2200rpm). If this scares you reading this, it should. But it gets worse. At this point, we had lost any confidence we might've had with DYC and began seeking another charter company. Luckily, one was located right next door and we determined they would be able to put us into a comparably sized boat with the loss of only two days. Disappointing, yes, but I could no longer trust my safety or the safety of my crew with this boat OR this base manager. So we made the difficult decision to pack up and leave. Upon reporting to George that we would be leaving the boat and seeking a refund, my co-captain found him talking to another charter group STILL complaining about our alcohol order. In the face of all of the problems we had just had, the lack of professionalism he displayed at that moment was unlike any I had EVER experienced. If reading this, I implore you to avoid this charter company at all costs. As a final word of warning, we still have yet to receive a refund of any kind. Belize is a beautiful place to visit, but USE DYC AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

Wow what a great charter company. Met Cedric and his crew at the Roberts Grove Marina, went through the paperwork quickly for chartering our Bali 4.5 cat, had dinner at the on site Habaneros restaurant, spent the night on the boat and then woke up to a beautiful sunrise. Cedric then met us on the boat and went through all the boat's functions and to answer all of our questions. He also gave us some charts, a travelers guide to Belize waters and showed us where and where not to go. We then met our local skipper for the day and departed the docks. Our temp took us down the placencia laggon which wasn't very deep but all soft mud, out to the close islands, went over controls on the boat and how things worked and answered all our questions. We then went back to placencia harbor and his buddy picked him up in his skiff. Cruised around the inner reef for a week, had a blast and returned to the Marina and dropped off the boat. Cedric and his crew met us and I backed the boat into the dock slot where they tied it off. Great personality.
