What a joy to visit here. Probably my favourite port from a cruise ship. No hassle getting off the ship onto dockside which is modern. On site staff joyful and not at all pushy.
Decided to head to beach which is short walk or chairlift ride$15. Lagoon area safe and secure. There are free sunbeds at the very end of beach or pay $30 2 persons for beds and brolly. $5 for Wi-Fi which is good and strong. Lagoon is wonderful for swim and so inviting in heat. We snorkelled from end of pier and saw some fantastic fish. Bar and waiter service great and direct to your sun bed. There is nothing to fault with this place and I would come back in a heart beat.
Didn’t do a trip but would be great to come back here after a day out as you can see ship from beach. The whole area has been created but in a great way. Bit like a Disney water park with the facilities.

My husband and I, along with our 3 grandchildren, spent the afternoon on this beach after an amazing tour in the morning. The beach is located on a small island accessible by walkway and bridge or by chairlift. ( we opted for the chairlift)
With its powdery sand and crystal clear waters ; this little retreat could be an excursion all by itself. Many watersport and food/ beverage options are available. Plenty of deck chairs( free) and sheltered chairs ($$) are there for your enjoyment.
The Carnival ship was just a short walk away.

On the cruise ship's arrival to Mahogany Bay Cruise Port, we walked up the hill and to the right and found the Magical Flying Beach Chair Lift kiosk, where we paid $14 per person via credit card for unlimited rides for the day. We took the Chair lift to Mahogany Bay Beach. We walked to the far end by the snorkel pier, and found plenty of unoccupied free beach chairs. We enjoyed walking around the property, finding plenty of fun photo opportunities and activities like the limbo stick, food, drinks, restrooms, rental equipment, etc. All in all, it was a fun, active, relaxing day.

The waiter staff is horrible (all ladies). Sat at the bar for 30 minutes and was over looked ignored. After 30 minutes the lady behind me became very upset and had to shout to get a waitress to stop. I will be sending Carnival a review about this port also describing my experience.

Docked here with a Carnival cruise in November 2022. We planned a beach day and got what we were hoping for. From the ship it is a short walk to the beach or you can take a chair lift for a fee. We chose to walk. It's maybe a 10 minute walk past some of the shops down a well kept path, over a bridge to the beach area.
Access to the beach is free. There are free lounger chairs and there are also lounger chairs you can pay for if you want to be closer to the water. The beach area is bounded by a pier and a floating barrier for people enjoying the water. There are a couple of restaurant options, a spa on the beach where you can get a massage (for a fee), some free cornhole set ups and clean restrooms.
We stayed at the beach for a couple of hours and then it poured rain unfortunately. So, we didn't eat on the island - we scampered back to the boat ate onboard. Once the rain let up a bit (it was still raining) we left the boat again to explore the port area and do some shopping. The port has a nice assortment of stores - the typical t-shirt places and jewelry places, but it also has some spots where local craftspeople are selling their goods. We purchased an attractive vase. The port area is clean.

Overall a great day! The walk to the pickup area is a little vague. We just asked and everyone was helpful! A fair bit of wait time at the animal sanctuary but they didn’t rush people through. We all got plenty of time to hold the sloths, birds, and monkeys! Snorkeling was perfect for kids and beginners. They were so helpful with my 7-year-old who was struggling to figure it all out. But the reef was nothing special though the guides did a good job of showing us some cool things like sea cucumbers and starfish. I looked at all the reviews and couldn’t find a couple of key answers so here they are! There are changing rooms and a restroom where you go snorkeling. Bring your own towels (not provided) and bring a snack as there is no stopping for food. They did provide bottled water once we were on the boat!

On a recent cruise our Honduras spot was Mahogany Bay. Its a great set up with a number of stores, bars and coffee shops . You can also take the cable car to the beach $12 each which was a great way to see the overall site - OK we could have walked , but then why not.
The beach area has a number of sections where there are free loungers , or those you can hire the lounger and shade canopy. We were able to top up our December tan , and then order lunch at the nearby restaurant. For those who are much more energetic than ourselves there are also water sports available on hire.
Overall a great day to relax.

Yet another Caribbean port on a cruise ship. If you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all and this is no different. We were here about 15 years ago and it definitely feels safer now than it did back then.

Stopped at this port on our Carnival Vista cruise and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the beach area was. We spent the entire day in the water, taking in the sun and beach all for free. The setup of beach chairs was nice, there was plenty of room for everyone to swim freely. We also spent an hour playing beach volleyball with several other cruisers which was exciting. Definitely a fun day for the family.
Now to the negative- the food! The restaurant there Fat Tuesdays I believe was horrible. The food was a poor attempt at Caribbean cuisine. It was so bad we didn’t even eat all of it. Save your money because it was an expensive waste and eat on the cruise ship. That is how bad it was. Average of $17 ea dish.
The beach and grounds were nice and clean. Will suggest you visit while at port…just eat on the ship.

Gorgeous beach right off the cruise port. We walked about 10 minutes, some people rode a chairlift, and there were plenty of lounge chairs available for free. Umbrellas are extra but there were lots of trees providing good shade if you didn't mind being a few rows back. There are a couple of restaurants/ bars, clean bathrooms & some shops. The water was warm & enjoyable. I strongly recommend it.

Hi, travelling here on a ship next week. We really want to visit the sloth sanctuary - can these tours be booked at. Mahogany Bay when we arrive ?. Our ship doesn’t offer this tour ☹️

I know is too late.
You do not need to make a reservation for the chair. That beach belongs to the cruise and it is free to access and also the chair. However, if you want to use a canopy or umbrella, you will need to pay for it about $22.00-$25.00 for the entire day.

In most cases it is safer to book excursions through your cruise line. Some times, if you are in port for a long period of time, it is usually cheaper to get taxis or shuttles to take you to a place you have discovered on line that you may want to see. Some countries control the taxi fees and some don't. Taxis seem safer shared with another couple.

Beach chair individually is about $15 per person and beach is free. Carnival offers a package for $65 that includes beach chair lift, shaded lounge chairs, floating beach mat for 2 people.

We booked a private van and guide with Victor Bodden tours. It was about $25 per person for the whole day. They will show you around the popular places or go anywhere you want to hang out at. Four or more people is $25 each. A bargain compared to the ship's excursions. We had a driver, a knowledgeable guide, and a late model clean van. Enjoyed it a lot.
