trail was beautiful, not crowded at all. We rented bikes and rode about two hours. Great, unobstructed views made for a nice ride.

The Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail is a great hike for all skill level which starts at Shipwreck Beach near the Grand Hyatt and travels along the shore and ends near the Makauwahi Cave. The trail includes great views of the coast, cultural heritage sites, and beaches. Hikers should definitely bring water.

This is a fairly easy hike right along the coast. Your going to get a little bit of everything. There will be cliffs, rocks, beach and turtles. Be sure to bring water, it gets hot and can be very windy. Also be sure to wear proper footwear. I would not recommend sandals or flip flops. A nice way to spend a couple hours.

This is a fairly easy hike along the Poipu Coast. Wear appropriate foot wear, bring water, and enjoy the view! There are tide pools to explore, crazy rock formations to photograph, and dangerous cliffs. It get pretty windy up there, so make sure you hold your child's hand and do not go near the edge of the cliffs.

The scenery was fantastic. Ocean front wave hitting the shore and wonderful sun. A ten mile bike ride of pure heaven. Wonderful bike path and it was easy enough for children. My grandchildren loved it. We saw all kinds of flowers, turtles, and surfers. The bikes were a little rickety, but they worked. I think I would look around for a better bike rental next time. I saw several better bike shops within a few miles, but i had reserved these earlier so I had to go with them. The bathroom facilities were extremely poor, but there are food booths all over. However, the trail was nothing short of fantastic. The trail is free and could be walked, but the bike ride is much easier and more fun with a family. Just don't rent your bikes at the shop on the trail. Find another bike shop to rent from.

i have been to kauai twice and done this hike both times. we are going again in the fall and will be taking the people we are travelling with again.

Really enjoyed this coastal trail called Mahaulepu Heritage Trail. The day was sunny, breezy and the ocean was so beautiful. Pick up a little map for this hike and you'll find points of interest. You'll be hiking on mostly on sand, some red dirt, some stones, a little bit on the golf course too. We spotted quite a few turtles in the ocean. I think my favorite spot was the pinnacles where it looked so interesting in the beautiful blue ocean. Bring a hat, sunscreen and wear hiking shoes. It's worth going on this hike for sure.

Lovely trail from Shipwrek beach next to Grand Hyatt along the shoreline. There area sandstone formations carved by the waves, tide pools, & spectacular scenery. You can reach three secluded beaches on the hike in less than 4 - 5 miles of easy hiking. The trail goes through tropical flora & fauna & up small dunes in close proximity to the ocean vistas. Take some water. You will love it!

We first saw pictures of this hike on the trailblazerhawaii blog. We were staying at the Hyatt and took a morning jaunt along Shipwreck Beach and followed the trail out along the cliffs. It took about an hour walking slow. There's alot of cultural and archeological information in a brochure that we were given at the concierge desk. Swimming along this trail is discouraged, however, we saw several people jumping from the cliff into deep water. If you take this hike, bring water with you. Also there is not much shade so slather the sunscreen.
