A sweet little free show put on by Hilton

I live ten minutes by foot from the Friday fireworks and love it, in fact I'm going there tonight.

The thing to remember is it's free, it's a fairly modest fireworks display, it starts exactly on time and ends a few minutes later.

So I wouldn't make it the focus of your whole night, or a boat trip, or pay extra for a hotel room just because it has a fire works view… you're here to enjoy the tropics, the ocean, your boat, your room… this is just icing on the cake.

We locals might combine it with a picnic or watching the sunset, or for me an evening jog.

If you want a great view, walk over to the sandy beach just southeast of the Hilton lagoon. Bring a mat or something to sit on, or you can even wade into the water, it's shallow and always warm. It's never too crowded to find a spot, but allow a few minutes because the paths get pretty full.

They close off the launching area with string and flags – so if you want the full body loud boom experience, go all the way up to the spring.

What's so sweet about it is that it's an institution, it's back after the pandemic, and Hilton is offering it to the public for free – their entire resort is a fun place to wander through, open to all, even has plenty of clean public restrooms.

Pretty Show

It's always a nice show. Perfect way to start the weekend and family oriented. We always want to be at Hilton on Friday night to see this. I believe it begins at 7:45 pm and only 5 minutes. Fireworks can be seen overlooking the lagoon.

Beautiful fireworks, worth waiting

Fireworks turned out to be a big deal for the entire area. Not just hotel guests but people living in town. It was a short but exciting 10 minutes of fireworks. Best part was the community camaraderie as we prepared to wait for the fireworks to start.

No firework this Friday night

I heard from multiple tour guides about the fireworks on Friday night and this is our last night in Oahu. The kids are very excited. But the firework did not happen. We arrived one hr in advance and did not see anything. Very sad.

We were here for 2 Fridays - the first week it started at about 7:40 and was over in 4 minutes. The second Friday, they shot off 1 firework at 7:45 and that was it. We were at a hotel where we could watch from our balcony so it wasn’t a big deal but lots of people walk down to the beach from the other hotels in Waikiki. Hundreds of people. Don’t waste your time going down here and if you’re booking a trip on a boat to see this, make sure you can get a refund if there’s no firework show.

Amazing! We found a spot right by the Hilton Hawaiian Village and even though it was crowded, we loved it. The show started right at 7:45pm.

4min of barely visible fireworks…

The fireworks start promptly at 7:45pm during winter or 8:00pm in summers. They go off for MAYBE 4 minutes max and the only worth while way to watch the fireworks is on a boat in the ocean that is facing the The Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. We tried to watch them from the Sheraton Boardwalk, but they’re barely visible so we ran along the Fort DeRussy Boardwalk until we got to the beach in front of the Steak Shack (next to the Castle Waikiki Shore hotel). Ultimately we missed getting a good view of the fireworks and honestly even if we’d been closer it wouldn’t have made a difference. Don’t waste your time attempting to see the fireworks and don’t waste your money booking a catamaran (or any other boating excursion) to view the fireworks. Waking along the boardwalk was fun, as was dipping our feet into the ocean at night, so thankfully it wasn’t a wasted adventure!

Comfortable, but totally touristy and overly expensive

We stayed at Hilton Hawaiian Village a couple of time in years past, but it was in condo units associated with a time-share we had then. This time we chose it to rest up for a couple of days after a night flight from New Zealand. We didn't plan to rent a car and wanted a place where we had easy access to restaurants. We had a comfortable in the Rainbow Tower with a view of Waikiki and Diamond Head. We had some nice meals and grabbed some lunch and snacks at the one of the convenient ABC Stores. On Friday night, the weekly fireworks show was brief, but it was nicely done and had a spectacular ending. All that said, we would not stay here again. The place is extremely touristy, jammed with people, many of whom are too way hefty to be so skimpily dressed. We knew the room was expensive, $393/night, but with $70 in local taxes and a surprise $50/night "resort fee," this place really isn't worth it. But I gotta emphasize, we wouldn't stay there at half the price due to the press of tourists. Next time we'll be at the much-quieter Diamond Head end of Waikiki.

Most of Waikiki Can't See the Fireworks!

Do not believe people/hotel staff that say you can view the fireworks from the hotels near the Outrigger Waikiki, etc. Not a chance! There were so many disappointed people (including us) on the beach waiting.

Still no fireworks at the Hilton.

However last night (Friday) at 2020hrs there were fireworks from a barge in the water of Waikiki beach. They lasted for only a few mins. Maybe 3/4 maximum.
