This small zoo is a surprise in Aurora, dating back over 100 years It only takes about 30 minutes to see everything if you're on your own, probably an hour with small children. Easy for small children to navigate. They have elk, bald eagles, a turkey vulture, an owl, a handful of reptiles, a wolf, a cougar, tortoise, alpacas, goats, a red-tailed hawk and peacocks. There's also an indoor section near the front featuring Mastodon fossils found when the park was created. It continues to be upgraded and is well-maintained - and FREE to the public.

My daughter and I would go at least once a month because it is a small quaint Zoo. It is a fun visit, and they have rescued animals, so I could appreciate it a little more.

Growing up in Aurora we often went to the park for picnics in the summer & ice-skating in the winter. The zoo has been upgraded from what it was years ago. You & your children can see goats, chickens, wolves, peacocks & other animals. There's a fun area where the kids can cool off in a sprinkler park. Don't miss the sunken gardens where you'll see a beautiful, formal garden.

Just beautiful to enjoy with family.
The grounds were very well kept. Theres a section for the kids to get wet on hot days and the zoo was interesting to go thru...such a family oriented environment. I loved it

Overall it was pretty good, there seemed to be a lot of reptiles. It's more of an injured animal rescue than a zoo. The animals names and stories was something I enjoyed reading as you walk along.You can tell they are very well cared for. Certain reptiles seemed a little to large to be in there. Didn't get to see the otters or Tonka while we were there. However for something that was completely free for a family it was fun and surprising.And the bonus of the beautiful sunken gardens, and visitors center was awesome too.

It’s a great trip for an afternoon. The park is beautiful. Not too many animals although the reptile house has a gigantic alligator, snake and iguana. The peacocks put on a great show. It’s free which is nice.

This is a very small free zoo with a few animals but a must see with a great park! My children have loved going here since they were infants. This sunken gardens are beautiful for pictures.

A surprisingly fun little zoo for your children. Most of the animals were injured and could not survive in the wild so now they have a nice home. Nice reptile house but I do not have a clue where they got their gators. Maybe they were someone’s pet. Great family time and it is free!

The staff is friendly and informative. Zoo is next to a park that has a playground, picnic area and waterpark. Fun for all!! Very safe to allow your children to explore the zoo safely.

They have a very cool reptile house with a couple of alligators, lots of snakes and iguanas and turtles. Outdoors they have some wolves, elk/deer, peacocks, various owls and birds including an eagle, and a cougar. There's a nice park nearby, as well as a beautiful sunken garden and indoor exhibit of mastadon bones recovered from the area.

Montgomery Road turn on Howell Road then make a right and park in the parking lot. It’s the entrance to the zoo and it’s left of the building and mammoth statue. It’s big!
