There is no BTS or MRT in the Khao San area yet. There is a rail link being built at this time. Because this is part of the historic part of the city it has been overlooked til a couple of years ago. The line will go underground so as not to detract from the old part of the city. If you are in the Sukhumvit area a red bus number 2 or a yellow bus 511 will take you to Ratchdomnoen road adjacent to Khao San for the price of 9 baht and 15 baht respectively A meter taxi will cost 100 to 120 baht. Notice I mentioned meter taxi, many drivers will quote a price of 200 baht and not use the meter. Just walk away. Always take a moving taxi. Never a stationary one outside a hotel or parked on the street. Tuk tuks are not cheaper than taxis; they always cost more. If in Silom the red 15 bus will take you to Khao San road. An alternative in Sukhumvit is the fast ferry about 15 baht to the Golden Mount, a 15 minute walk to Khao Sann. You can find the San Seb ferry parallel to Petburi road, close to Pantip and Pratunam
