Our guide Bow, was lovely; so knowledgable and fun - she made a wonderful day even better (her food at lunch time was just delicious!!). The location was beautiful, the Elephants clearly very cared for and happy. The waterfall beautiful, the rafting too - just a very special experience not to be missed!!
Not only do they support these wonderful elephants but also the local Karen community!

Amazing experience! Protecting elephants but at the same time pet them and have fun ! Charlie, one of the guides is so patient, explaining so much. The view here is also amazing. One in a lifetime experience!

We had an amazing trip, with the best tourguide you could imagine; Lan.
He was calm, funny and so wise and clever on everything in the jungle - a real jungle man!
The food was amazing and there was lot of it.
The jungle was so beautiful and the experience with the elefants was unforgetable.
We can only reccommend this amazing trip!!

Awesome! You get the chance to do a real nice trekking, shower the elephants in their natural habitat, eat some homemade Thai food and chill around the area feeding the elephants. People working here is really friendly and nice. A must visit If you go to Chiang Mae.

This place is incredible and supports a worthy cause. We had fantastic food at the Riveside Cafe. The penang curry is wonderful but spicy! We were also able to feed the elephants after breakfast. There are plenty of activities available but we opted to explore on our own as we had a motorbike. My only recommendation would be to use metal or compostable straws in your facilities instead of plastic. I think it would be a small change that would really complement your ecofriendly environment. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

The Chai Lai Orchid has quickly become one of my favourite spots in Thailand! The ambiance was amazing and food was great! The girls working were so sweet and despite the fact that english was not their first or second language they managed to make us feel very accommodated. The room was beautiful for a good price. We loved our stay and we also loved the Elephant Trekking tour we did. If you get a chance to visit - do not miss this place!

Found this place through Instagram. It is about an hour away from the airport. You can book a driver with Chai Lai for 800 baht. I suggest using Grab because when I looked at prices, it was slightly cheaper. You prob have to have them call you a taxi when you’re leaving cause no one will pick up for Grab.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the deluxe queen room for one night. The room wasn’t that nice. It could use some remodeling lol and the sink is almost broken. There were a few lizards in the room. We felt like we were glamping since it was in the mountains. Beware that it is super cold in the morning!! There’s really not much to do since it’s in the mountains so we kinda wasted our day.
We did the half day tour, which included the elephant walk, feeding, bath, and bamboo tour. I’m not really sure how they do things because in their activities book it was mostly just half day or full day tours. I wish we only paid to do the bath lol. Elephant walk was nothing great at all. The elephants wander in the forest so majority of the time my group just stood and waited for the elephants. So we basically wasted money by mostly watching them when we can do that for free by the river already. Elephants can kind of get scary when you feed them lol because all of them will come to you if they know. The baby elephant is cute but scary lol she knocked someone in our group like three times. The bath happened so quick. I barely splashed water on them and then the elephants left. Bamboo raft is relaxing but I wouldn’t pay for it to be honest. It cost 3000 baht for half day tour which was from like 9:30 am-12:30 pm.
We also did breakfast with the elephants from our room, which is probably my favorite part of the whole thing lol. They give you bananas for the elephants and a breakfast tray for yourself. I think it cost 1500 baht.
Overall, it was an expensive experience that I wouldn’t do again and I’m not sure if I would recommend it to others either. Not sure how it is at other places but everything was just okay. Like I said, I wish I only did the elephant bath since I already fed an elephant from my room.

We did a day tour through Chai Lai Orchid that includes hikes to waterfalls, bamboo rafting and feeding and bathing elephants. It was a lovely experience. I wanted to make sure any experience with elephants was humane and that they were happy and they seemed to be well taken care of. Our tour guide “Tim” was so nice and made sure we had a good time!

Hello! I’m planning a trip for late November. Will this be a comfortable accommodation? Do they have air conditioning or is it all
Open? Do they have hot water? Are the rooms and bed comfortable?
I will Be coming from koh samui from a 5 star hotel and don’t know if the contrast will be too much going from
Super comfy and lavish to this particular
Hotel, I love elephants and want to have the experience to be with them again, but not sacrificing comfort. I hope I am wrong and they have good and comfortable accommodations.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how far exactly the village is from Chaing Mai - sadly we don't have time to stay over night but I notice that some reviewers have done general day trips which are not advertised on the website it seems - we would like to see the village, elephants, waterfall + lunch perhaps - thanks in advance for any info Mark J

Hi,
The Chai Lai Orchid is about a 60 minute sontang (open air taxi) drive, but my advice is to contact Nukul at Chai Lai Sisters & she can tailor a trip to suit your schedule. They have their own drivers who have really comfortable 4x4 wheel drives. There are so many beautiful treks, temples, waterfalls, markets & elephants around the Chaing Mai area and Nukul knows them all. I did two day trips with her and on one of them we stopped at a temple on top of a mountain, when I noticed a monk, I asked if we could have a blessing. Golo (a partner of Chai Lai sisters) disappeared for 30minutes, came back with offerings for the monk and we got our blessing-just beautiful.
Don't miss the opportunity to spend a day in this beautiful area with these amazing women. Tell them Olivia & Julie say Hi.
