Must do tour!!!
We booked this on our last day in Chiang Mai but it was definitely the best out of the tours we took whilst here. Tu is a very knowledgeable and kind guide who didn't rush us and answered all of our questions. The temples are beautiful and it is a very different experience visiting a Wat before sunrise with an ex-monk.

Once in a life time jungle martial arts retreat

I have had a lot of fun and adventures in my life and this was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. We got to learn about Thai religious culture from a former monk, go on beautiful tours with a local guide, train with a professional fighter, meditate in the jungle, eat amazing homemade food, and see natural beauty like no other. I would definitely do this retreat again. Thanks so much for an unforgettable weekend! -Kadisha

Rise up, chant with monks, see the sun to start your day!
This is a really unique experience. We were fortunate to have James, an extremely knowledgeable ex-monk whose English was very good. Just really press for your question to be understood. Beautiful sunrise tour. A highlight was definitely sitting with monks chanting in a lost language and later giving alms to same monks. Fellow travelers were great and the breakfast though not spectacular was really solid for such a touristic spot. I would definitely recommend. The second and third wots we visited were also unique and special in their own ways but if you were pressed for time this would still be worthwhile just for the first part and then to hop a taxi or hike down to your next destination from the top.

This was perfect. We saw so much before the crowds arrived. Guide and driver were prompt and nice. Our guide (Non) was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend

Spectacular Highlight of Our Trip
Our guide James was delightful--lively, warm and full of knowledge. we thoroughly enjoyed learning about Buddhist traditions in Thailand. The sunrise tour was spectacular. The breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend this tour.

We highly recommend this tour during a trip to Chiang Mai. We were picked up promptly and headed up the mountain to witness the monks’ morning ceremonies and offer them food. After the sun rose, we ate breakfast and saw two more temples (forest and tunnel)—both were beautiful. Our tour guide Tu was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. He took great care of us as did the driver.

Nice view, worthy of the trip
Quiet beautiful experience. Very good guide. Learned a lot and could ask a lot of questions. Little early to see the sunset but was too cloudy so njente sunset.

Unforgettable experience

Definitely worth the early rise! Beautiful sunrise and sat with the monks at Doi Suthep while they did their morning chants. Visited a few temples following that. We went with a former monk so he really helped explain a lot and definitely added to the experience. I can't recommend this enough! An experience we will never forget.

A tour worth the 5:00am start - don’t miss this one.
Our sunrise tour with ex-monk, Tom, was amazing. Sunrise at Wat Phra That Doi Sutrep was magical. We arrived early and avoided the crowds arriving later. Tom went out of his way to explain the role of monks, their education/training and role in the community.
Our tour took us to Wat Pha Lat, a peaceful mountain jungle setting. Tom described his time and training while he was a monk there.
