A far friend of mine recommended the two day tour, including orchid and butterfly farm, elephant park, trekking, visiting waterfalls, staying in a tribal village, whitewater and bamboo rafting, visiting hill tribe.
Instead of a proper minibus, they were transporting us with a songtheaw, squeezing 8 of us with luggages. The car was most probably older than 20 yrs, we had to smell brutal dieselgas for over an hour.
First they took us to what rather was a restaurant with an orchid garden and a butterfly tent, clearly a tourist trap. Then we were takrn to an elephant park, where 2 depressed elephants could be fed and then bathing with them. The park was very simple, the elephants were obviously not kept well, here I didn't participate at all. After they transposted us to a very basic restaurant where I had my worst pad thai ever, which was also small portion. Then in the heat of the day we had to do the 6 km trek with 500 mtrs elevation to reach our camp site, who could not walk had to pay extra...
There we were suggested to pay for massage by not very clean tribe ladies who have zero knowledge about massage (some still paid for it). We were taken to sunset point 1.5 hrs before sunset as they had no clue about time. The dinner was cooked by our guide, KingKong, curry and rice.
In the evening they called over local kids to sing, and even though KingKong was saying they were performing out of the heart, later one of them turned up with a bowl to beg for money. How can they humiliate their own children??!?
The campsite is very basic, double matrasses on the floor, that I had to share with a complete stranger... Very cold at night...
After breakfast we did the trek downhill, waterfall visit, again stupidly simple (and cheap) lunch: veg fried rice, then rafting and bamboo rafting which lasted for cca 8 mins...
If I didn't ask for the tribe visit they would have skipped it, but it also turned out to be just souvenir buying opportunity
The whole 2day program was about organizing it from as few money as possible and sell as many additional products and services as possible.
Other than this our guide was really like a gorilla, bad, sometimes ununderstandable English, no care about customers, getting drunk in the evening...
Thailand should finally reach the phase when they set up a minimum for service level and only give license to tour companies which are willing to provide this minimum...

Avoid this company at all costs...it is a scam. We booked this tour in Bangkok airport on the recommendation from AirAsia and it was a huge mistake. Air Asia and Mapas Tours should properly vet companies which they choose to be affiliated with. The 'tour' ended up being only my friend and I so we were picked up in a pickup trek which has seen better days....it was very dirty inside. Having gone on various trips within Thailand I could sense immediately that this company was subpar as there are very good, reputable companies throughout Thailand....this just is not one of them.
We stopped at the butterfly farm which was probably the only good thing about the trip and the trip quickly went downhill with the first activity, the elephant trekking. The driver passed all of the reputable elephant stops and instead we went to a quarry with a gentleman with 2 elephants...it was clearly not a standard tourist stop. There were some men milling around but no other tourists arrived in the 45 mins we were there. Next up was the lunch stop which seemed to be someone's house where we were served mixed rice and fruit which the driver delivered himself. The bathroom was an outhouse. Again I have been on other tours were the lunch stop could be considered 'rustic', this was not that.....this was clearly not a tourist stop. At that point we decided against continuing on the tour in fear that all other stops would be just the same. In reading the other reviews, I am happy that we did.
To top it all off we agreed to a partial refund amount with the vendor and spent the next 3 months chasing the vendor to honor the agreement.
There are tons of other tour companies in Chiang Mai, do yourself a favor and choose someone else.

Total false advertisement. The driver does not give a care about his clients. I got picked up 45 min late. I had to call them to pick me up also...
The vehicle I got picked up in was a total crap shoot.

After reading other reviews online I was skeptical, although, this 2 day 1 night tour ending up being the highlight of my trip to Thailand. To put it blunt this tour was amazing, absolutely spectacular. The elephants were VERY WELL looked after and the seemed in great physical health. No chains, hooks, or whips were present during my visit. The timing is so flexible you are able to spend as little or as much time as you like with the elephants. Elephant activities included feeding, bathing and bareback riding as well as plenty of photo opportunities. Personally for me the staff exceeded my expectations are they brilliant so accommodating! The fun doesn’t stop at the elephants our fun continued through to the night and to the next day. The trek up the mountain was beautiful and authentic and the village was a one in a life time experience. Truly untouched this village is authentic and makes for a great travel experience. The social elements at the village were great guides instigate social activity. Sitting around playing games and listening to a local play guitar until the sunsets. Then enjoying a traditional Thai dinner and a few drinks to wash it all down it was time for bed. Day two was just as good as day one and continue to exceed expectations.

I bought this tour because of rafting. So they offered me a couple more things to do. Which i though it would be great.
First bad thing, visiting village it just go for shopping. Awful.
Second bad thing, i did not want to do elephant ride. I think it is really bad. So i wanted to feed them and spend time with them. So the elephants look so bad, sad and careless. Awful
Third not too bad thing was the water fall. Nice trekking. It was tge only one thing i could remember of this tour.
The last and the worst thing, it was rafting. I was looking forward to doing this thing on bamboo boat. When we arrived i found out, the boat was a inflatable one. Bad thing. I asked about the bamboo and they told is was no longer available. Ok, i was optimistic and i accepted the boat they offered. Rafting was a joke, there was no speed at all. Just a quiet sailing on the river.
I was so upset with the company and the tour...
Lunch was just rice and fresh fruit.
People were on the average of thai people.

Para nosotros fue una decepción. Teníamos contratado el trekking de 2 días y una noche pero finalmente sólo pusimos hacer el de un día por salud. Este es el único punto positivo de todo, que nos cambiaron el trekking sobre la marcha, eso sí, sin devolver la diferencia.
Lo primero es que a pesar de contratarlo por la web, la empresa que nos hizo el trekking fue "Jumbo Trekker"... aún desconocemos el por qué.
En la web comenta que el traslado es en mini Van. Pues nada de eso, es una ranchera, al estilo de las muchas rojas que hay en Chiang Mai. Abierta al exterior y sentados en una especie de bancos muy incómodos... Durante todo el día y por carreteras muy bacheadas. Cuando hizo calor lo pasamos mal pero fue peor la lluvia porque durante una hora nos estuvimos mojando.
Por otro lado, el guía "Tommy" nos trataba como a un ganado, no nos explicó nada ni de lo que haríamos en cada momento ni tampoco enriqueció las actividades con explicaciones que sí vimos que daban otros guías. Durante el trekking se echó a andar y nos dejó solos... Intuyendo la senda.
La comida fue un simple plato de arroz, nada más. Ni una botella de agua, que debimos comprar.
Para el rafting debes bajar descalzo por un barrizal porque tus zapatillas pueden romper la barca. Éste termina en un punto indeterminado del río, donde nadie nos esperaba. El chico del rafting nos dijo que caminásemos 5 minutos por tierra, descalzos, y encontraríamos a nuestro guía con la ranchera. Y así fue, allí estaba tan feliz, sin mojarse y escuchando música. La sensación fue de abandono total.
Las actividades de la web las hicimos todas, pero como ven, muy mal organizadas, guiadas y casi diría que con desprecio hacia el cliente.
No lo recomiendo a nadie. Todos los que fuimos, 9 personas, coincidimos en lo que he descrito.

Par.contre ce qui n est pas precisé c est surtout des conditions lamentables: pick up dans un etat deplorable, pas safe , tres mal assis alors qu on passe pres de 4 heures dedans...inadmissible de le proposer pour des excursions
Le repas du midi est tres basique
A la fin du rafting on nous oblige a passer par un long chemin boueux pied nu au milieu des chiens errants. Et ca n avait pas l air de choquer les guides
Derniere chose les ecarts de prix entre les differentes personnes va pratiquement du simple au double (850 a 1500 baths par personne) ca devient du vol
Bon les guides sont sympas mais ca ne suffit pas. Passez votre chemin

Booked the 1 Day Trekking excursion with Jumbo Trekker which is advertised heavily in Chiang Mai. I originally wanted to book with another company but the tour agency swayed me towards this company. Yes, I know its my own fault. Anyhow, the excursion was a logistical mess from the start. First, they don't even pick you up in a minivan. They use a Songathew (Pickup truck with two rows of benches in the back). There were 9 of us packed into this pickup truck and we were booked on 3 different excursions. As a result, everything was a rush and completely disorganized as they tried to rush the schedule to accomodate all of the different itineraries. Even the activities they list you only get a few minutes to enjoy. For instance, I paid 300 extra to visit the Karen hill tribe, but the other 8 people with me did not. So, everyone had to go to the hilltop tribe and waste their time, but only I was able to actually go inside the village and only for 15 minutes. Everyone else had to wait. Then, when it came to riding the elephants the ride itself couldn;t have been more than 10 minutes. The lunch, if you could call it that, was nothing more that a plain bowl of rice, nothing more. They did serve some pineapple and watermelon, but both of those were literally covered in bees. The hike itself was actually pretty good. The white water rafting was ok only, but the bamboo rafting was a joke. We literally go on the raft, paddled about 50-100 metres and got off the raft, No more than 5 minutes in total. Then we had to walk barefoot down a pathway for about 300 metres back to the pickup site. The whole experience was literally the most disorganized and worst excursion I have ever been on and certainly unlike any excursion I have ever been on in Thailand. Although the guide we had for the day spoke good English and could not be blamed for the disorganization, the company itself is a scam. Do yourself a favour and avoid this company like the plague.

Hice un tour con ellos y dejé las maletas en su campamento para desde allí volver a Bangkok también con ellos. Cuando llegué a Bangkok pude comprobar que me habían abierto la maleta, me habían robado 700 euros y 500 libras esterlinas y algo de comida. Cuando me pongo en contacto con ellos me dicen que no me preocupe y que no lo denuncie que a veces algún trabajador hace este tipo de cosas... pero que el seguro de la compañía se hace cargo... Todo fueron buenas palabras para que no hiciera nada y me volviera a mi país con la confianza de que ellos tramitarían todo... me pidieron incluso el número de cuenta bancaria para realizarme el ingreso... pero la realidad es que cuando dejé Tailandia no me han vuelto a contactar, ni siquiera responden a los emails. Son unos ladrones y unos estafadores. Tened mucho cuidado, aviso... En cuanto a lo que se dice en los demás comentarios sobre el trato a los elefantes y el alcohol e incluso drogas que ofrecen los mismos guías... lamentable es verdad... da pena ver como tratan a los elefantes y la escasa calidad del servicio que prestan. Compañía peligrosa!!!... actualmente los tengo denunciados y estoy a espera de juicio... esto no va a quedar así!!!

Nous avons booké un Trek de 2 jours/1 nuit, en précisant très clairement que nous ne voulions pas voir/monter/baigner des éléphants.
Départ à 9h, puis 2h de voiture dans Chiang Mai car le guide ne savait pas à quelle Guesthouse il devait aller chercher les autres.. Une fois (enfin) tous réunis, nous partons direction la maison des orchidées et papillons qui ne vaut absolument pas la peine de s'y arrêter, de toute façon, nous n'avons que 10 mon chrono. Puis arrêt dans un "village" où nous attendent 5 ou 6 stands de bijoux et autres avec des dames déguisées qui nous incitent plus que fortement à regarder (ce que nous avons pris soin de ne pas faire). Hormis pour jouer avec les chiens ou admirer les coqs, il n'y a rien d'autres à y faire. Encore un peu de route et nous arrivons à notre stop pour le lunch (nous avons dû insister pour avoir davantage de nourriture, car très sommaire..), nous attendons notre guide parti faire des courses... puis nous partons pour le "trek" qui durera 2h en tout et pour tout, avec un guide fatigué et essouflé qui s'arrêtait toutes les 3 minutes pour "water break".. D'un ennui... Arrivés au village à 15h et... c'est tout. Absolument rien de prévu jusqu'au repas à 18h30, donc tout le monde s'est couché... Repas correct. Puis couchés à 19h30.
Levés à 7h30 pour un petit déjeuner à 8h et un départ à... 11h ! Rien à faire à part attendre..
Marché agréable en descente pendant 1h, puis les Waterfalls sympa même si nous sommes rapidement pressés par le guide. Fin de la marche 30 minutes plus tard, un repas classique "riz".
Et alors là..
Nous arrivons face à des dizaines de touristes qui attendent.
Des éléphants devant des barrières, que je n'osais à peine regarder tant leur regard en disait long. Le guide nous demande si nous souhaitons grimpé alors que nous avions formellement demandé à ne pas voir ou monter sur des éléphants. Agacés de voir les autres touristes "accepter volontier" cette attraction plus que discutable, nous expliquons au guide que nous préférons l'option "walking" (car il propose: riding, rafting ou walking).
Il nous met dans un pik-up, sans aucune explication, nous roulons (sans savoir où nous allons "walking") et finissons par arriver.. à Chiang Mai, devant notre hôtel.
Aurevoir et merci.
Nous n'avons jamais pu dire aurevoir au reste du groupe, à notre cher et tendre guide et le trek de 2 jours aurait pu tenir sur une 1/2 journée.
Vraiment, passez votre chemin. Pour le bien de tous... et le vôtre !

Marché agréable en descente pendant 1h, puis les Waterfalls sympa même si nous sommes rapidement pressés par le guide. Fin de la marche 30 minutes plus tard, un repas classique "riz".
Et alors là..
Nous arrivons face à des dizaines de touristes qui attendent.
Des éléphants devant des barrières, que je n'osais à peine regarder tant leur regard en disait long. Le guide nous demande si nous souhaitons grimpé alors que nous avions formellement demandé à ne pas voir ou monter sur des éléphants. Agacés de voir les autres touristes "accepter volontier" cette attraction plus que discutable, nous expliquons au guide que nous préférons l'option "walking" (car il propose: riding, rafting ou walking).
Il nous met dans un pik-up, sans aucune explication, nous roulons (sans savoir où nous allons "walking") et finissons par arriver.. à Chiang Mai, devant notre hôtel.
Aurevoir et merci.
Nous n'avons jamais pu dire aurevoir au reste du groupe, à notre cher et tendre guide et le trek de 2 jours aurait pu tenir sur une 1/2 journée.
Vraiment, passez votre chemin. Pour le bien de tous... et le vôtre !

I've never been here nor do I plan on going. Reading these reviews the people that pay to go to this attraction are funding the cruelty, do the elephants a favour and give it a miss, their lives are worth more than your stupid bucket list or selfie.

i agree with you lindsey.
me my wife and my mother in low. we went it wasn't good experience. the reson i put my post because there is lotof peoples save their money since long time for a good experience and they get ripoff to save them.
