We had this as a tour stop which we were not sure what to expect. First thing was entering the showroom to allow us a bathroom break. Then out to the factory area to see how the lacquer products are made. Wow, what a process to get the wood, apply the picture by paint, mother of pearl or duck egg shells or a combination of some or all. Watching these artists look thru a pie of cracked egg shells to find the right size, shape and colour to fit in the picture if design is remarkable. The time spent on each piece is the reason for the costs. Nothing is made in a large factory or assembly line, they are all done piece by piece by hand. Needless to say even my husband was impressed and shopping when we got back to the showroom.

When our tour guide dropped us off, we were not overly excited. As we listened to how the items are made and the process it was actually very interesting. We even ended up buying something. Later at the evening market we compared ones we saw and could see and feel the difference in quality.

This was included as part of a tour and we were only there about 30 mins but well worth a visit and a good place for quality souvenirs or gifts. There was a brief talk on how they complete different types of laquer ware with workers actually completing work. Then the show room, wow! The pieces were amazing. Obviously the large pieces attracted large prices but there were pictures, trays, vases, coasters, ash trays amongst many others. I bought a vase about 7" tall which was $15, but it is beautiful. Would recommend tagging this onto any tour if possible.

We were brought here by our travel guide and it is well worth a visit. It was an educational 10 minutes, from tapping the lacquer tree, producing 2 different types of lacquer and then applying artistry - either with paint, egg shells or mother-of-pearl. And I thought lacquer was just wood! At the end of the visit, there is the biggest gallery displaying all sorts of lacquer products. The very good guide also gave a very good sales pitch and we ended up buying!

Wow, interesting place to learn how these productsare made, lots of things to look at and the designes make it very hard to choose somthing to send home.

Excellent place to buy Tintin memorabilia- Whether they are Lacquer Plaques of Tintin comic covers or whether they are jewelry boxes with Tintin covers. You can also buy Tintin in Vietnam and Tintin in Saigon lacquer plaques.

We found a beautiful piece at this shop. The staff were very helpful and friendly in helping us to purchase and ship home to Canada. We can't wait to visit Lacquer and more again on our next trip to Hanoi. This is art as furniture! A shop not to be missed!

I've never seen such Impressive lacquer products! Designs are so special, very different from traditional lacquer I've ever seen.
The showroom is a bit hidden behind the shops next by on the left and right so a bit difficult to recognize it is a showroom if not looking at the displaying box outside.
The shop owner is very friendly and speaks excellent English with very professional manner.

This shop is really special. The customer service is outstanding. It is rare to find someone who goes above and beyond like they do. I really love the amazing design of each piece of the products there. Beautiful and high quality.
Besides small items for gifts, they also have big lacquer furniture which surprised me when I saw them in their shop.
