We spent a week with Deshghuri tour. Dhaka and several different provinces. Bangladesh is not a very - easy country for travelers, but with Deshghuri tour - everything was very easy and simple. Excellent transportation and driver. Excellent - very knowledgeable - fluently English speaking guide Robin - helped us with all our needs and we got even more than we could have expected. Small problems that arose - were solved even before we started to care about it :)
Only the best recommendations.

I was so lucky to book this fascinating tour with Deshghuri to Sonargaon and Panam City. My guide Najib was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating and made sure I got to experience the cultural/people side that I was hoping for. He even let us stop at a school, and took me to an island village by boat to see authentic village life. Everyone was just as curious about me as I was about them, and I met tons of friendly people who wanted to chat and take photos. This was an outstanding day - thank you, Najib!

Thanks to Deshghuri and Mr. Sajja, I had a life-changing experience in Bangladesh. One of the best trips I ever had Mr. Sajja organized a 10-day tour of Bangladesh for me that included cruises, cars, tuk-tuks, motorboats, ricksaws, ferries, and trains. As a result, I was able to take a cruise in the Sundarbans, visit the Backwaters in Bahrani, and hike with a naturalist guide in Srinangal. Everything is tailored to my specifications.
I was traveling alone, but I always had the support of local guides and the coordination of Mr. Sajja, who even gave me his personal phone number for emergencies.
I felt really secure, and I could really enjoy the Authenticity  hospitality and beauty of this country.
I will never forget this trip, which exceeded my expectations! I was always the only foreigner I understood because this is not an easy destination, but thanks to Deshghuri, I had a life-changing experience.

I really enjoyed the time spent in Bangladesh. Even though we have limited time and tourist attractions are far from one anothers, we have managed to visit a lot of places ie. Sompur Mahavihara, otter fishing, Bagerhat, Sundarban.
The itinerary has been tailored perfectly to meet our requirements. Thanks to the company to make our trip happened.

Personally, Bangladesh has already become one of my favourite destinations. The kindness and sincerity of people has melted my heart. We were warmly treated by locals as important persons. No discrimination based on religious or ethnic experienced at all.

Here I have to thank to the company, our guide Rocky and driver Anish. You guys are awesome!

There are yet a lot more places and things to discover. Definitely I will have to return to Bangladesh and use their services again.

I recently completed a 5-day trip to Bangladesh organized through Deshguri Travel. Having travelled to many parts of the world and visited over 100 countries, I like to do my own research and organize things myself but there are definitely some places where it is worth paying for a guide and transportation. Recommendations on who to use for this are always welcome and I was told to contact Deshguri by the Operations manager of another travel company so got in touch with them to organize something myself.

Sajjat is the main point of contact in the pre-boarding process at Deshguri. His responsiveness via WhatsApp or email and the support received was excellent throughout the process. I was only originally going to be in the country for four days – too long just to stay in Dhaka but not really long enough to travel elsewhere. We discussed interests over WhatsApp, and he proposed three separate itineraries from which I selected one which he prepared into a document and sent with details. Then with less than two weeks prior to arriving, my departing flight was cancelled by Air Asia and I needed to stay another day, we looked at the itinerary again and at short notice, modified this to include an overnight trip to and from Sreemangal, the tea capital of Bangladesh.

Payment for the tour was done on my arrival in my case, but normally only a small deposit is required for the booking. Support from Sajjat extended to the required Letter of Invitation to obtain a Visa on Arrival as well as helping to organize some local currency for spending on drinks and meals without the need to go to a money exchange place. I also wanted to buy and send a postcard when in country and he went to pretty extraordinary efforts to arrange this for me, though this didn’t work out as planned.

The trip itself included the use of an air-conditioned car, an English-speaking guide, Robin, and a driver, Mohidul, who wasn’t required to but also spoke a little English. In summary the trip was as follows:

Day 1 – Arrival in Dhaka and transfer to hotel
Day 2 – Dhaka City tour (half-day); visit to Sonargaon and Panam City
Day 3 – Munshiganj and Bikrampur districts
Day 4 – Dhaka City (morning); Drive to Sreemangal
Day 5 – Sreemangal (morning); Return to Dhaka to catch overnight flight

The Dhaka City tour took you round the most popular city landmarks. This including a cycle-rickshaw ride through Old Dhaka and a boat ride across the river to the Shardarghat boat terminal, both of which are not easy to get at a fair price on your own, even if you can communicate with the driver. The drive out to Sonargaon and Panam was a little late in the day but worthwhile to see crumbling merchant homes and one restored palace. The day in the Munshiganj and Bikrampur districts was a more of an exploratory trip to drive round to some less well-known locations, interesting for those looking to get off-the-beaten path for a day.

The last day and a half was a trip out of the city to Sreemangal. The journey from Dhaka including stops was over 6 hours each way. It was a considerable effort and long way to go for what amounted to be a worthwhile morning of activities under the stewardship of another good, English-speaking guide. I had organized my accommodation in Dhaka but left the choice of the overnight stay to Deshguri. They arranged an overnight stay at the Tilagaon Ecolodge which was the main disappointment on the trip. The room was not clean and towels and the bed were both stained and damp, including the replacement bed sheets. The location was rural and the elevated position made for a nice sunrise but even making allowances for this, this was below a standard that I would expect. I would definitely not return here and recommend people to stay elsewhere.
In terms of the guide and driver, I was very happy with the support on the trip. Our driver was excellent especially on the long trip on dangerous roads to Sreemangal some of which had to be done in darkness, whilst my guide, Robin was able to organize meeting a famous sculptor in Old Dhaka, and a chance to see inside some historical buildings that were closed to the public. We even called in at an ice cream factory where the driver’s nephew worked for an ice cream on the way home. These are the sort of things that make a trip more memorable that even a well-prepared independent traveler cannot manage.

This is a long and detailed review which I hope would be of benefit for anyone considering a trip to Bangladesh and how to go about organizing it. Of course, there were some things that were not perfect and I will point them out here as this is a balanced review. The itinerary provided to me had a few albeit obvious mistakes in them, a last-minute change to the plan on the first day that did not really prove beneficial, and there were a few issues with time keeping. Lunch on the first two days did not happen until after 3 p.m. which were the outcome of poor time-keeping: either starting too late or when visiting some places during the morning. Starts in the last two days were also frustratingly later than planned but due to unforeseen circumstances. Time slippage is generally OK when things can be managed, but not at the expense of when you are heading somewhere and arrive 15 minutes before the official closing time and impending sunset as was the case at Panam City. Things become unduly rushed which shouldn’t happen when you are on your own.

However, this is the only criticism I can really make on the logistics. The lodge in Sreemangal was not up to an acceptable standard though not really the fault of the Deshguri who tried unsuccessfully, to sort things out with the owners after raising problems with them. Dhaka has terrible traffic and it will take you a long time to go short distances in the city so I would recommend starting any city tour as soon as you can in the morning. In planning when to do this, you also need to pay attention to opening hours and days as some key sights like the Pink Palace of Lalbagh Fort are closed on different days of the week. Ticket offices can often be closed at lunch time even the attraction itself remains open, as was the case when visiting Idrakpur Fort.

Come to Bangladesh with the right expectations as it remains a developing country. Dhaka is relatively polluted and the terrible traffic is ‘legendary’ with various modes of transport fighting for literally every square inch of available space on the road. This could be a nightmare for some people but for others, intense, and all part of the experience of travelling in the country. Things will go well as they can if you travel with these guys who will do their best for you. Just don’t come with the belief that everything will run perfectly and as you want all the time and you will have a memorable experience. People are friendly enough, especially with a guide present to provide some brief translation for the standard inquires of ‘where are you from?’ or ‘Can I have a selfie with you?’. On your own though, some people see you as a cash machine, none more so at the airport on my departure, where queue jumping offers in exchange for tips was common place.

In summary, Bangladesh is not an expensive place to visit by international standards and paying for support of a guide is definitely worth the money in my opinion. I was happy with the trip and would recommend Deshguri on their services to like-minded travelers seeking to get the most of their time of a visit to Bangladesh.

I just returned from a fabulous 4-day tour of Bangladesh, visiting Dhaka, Srimangal, Barisal, and surroundings thereof.

From the start, Sajjat was very responsive, and helped me design a custom itinerary according to my interests. Upon arrival at Dhaka airport at 3am, Deshghuri had arranged assistance at the airport followed by a very early morning pickup to kick off the tour

Robin, my tour guideover 3 days in Dhaka and Srimangal, was amazing. He's congenial, knowledgeable, and resourceful, and made sure I was well taken care of. For my 1 day in Barisal, I was looked after by Ontu, who also did a good job organising a great boat ride. What I liked best about both of them, though, is that in addition to the usual sights specified in the itineraries, they took me off the beaten path, including visits to their homes, villages, neighbourhood mosques, and hole-in-the-wall restaurants

If you're fortunate enough to travel with Robin, make sure to ask him to give you the "bonus" tour for an intimate visit to his childhood village just outside Dhaka, tasty deserts at a famous sweet shop, and home-cooked food at his home
