Nice museum you can finish in 30 minutes about a history of naval trade in sultanta with enough precious artefacts from recently discovered ship nearby.
Entry costs 3 BND for foreigners and less for kids. People were very nice and it has a very low number of tourists due to its location outside of the main city.
For the lovers of history it's a must go as this was a place of original capital of sultan Bolkiah.
You can also enjoy nice view of the river outside.

First of all, it is an overstatement to call this a "museum". A better description would be "exhibition". It consists of 2 halls: first one is the exhibition of the ship wreck itself, which is very well done. The second hall, is more of a history of Brunei as a trading post. Entrance was free, and during our visit on a Saturday morning from 09:30-10:45 we had the whole place to ourselves. The staff was super friendly. Recommend to visit if you like history.

Drove to see Brunei museum. It was closed for refurbishments. So drove further down to maritime museum. Bags, handbags, mobile phones and cameras are not allowed in. Locker provider. So don’t take super valuable items with you. Museum itself wasn’t anything special. Free entrance. Allow about 30 mins.
The best thing was walking outside - the sea view.
There’s a bridge worth walking over.
Plenty of car parking. Clean DRY restrooms with toilet paper. No cafe or place to eat but there are some drinks one can purchase near the entrance. Hassle free and peaceful. No queues. Went in the morning. Lovely reception ladies.
For these reasons I gave 5/5.
Tourism is underrated here. Beautiful country and people.

Total as concessionaire for the area the wreck was in spent a considerable amount of money exploring and raising the remains of the wreck.
You can see remains of pottery in a wooden modern recreation of the ship’s hull.
There’s a video of how they explored and excavated.
It’s free and air conditioned but you have to leave your bag and camera in a locker.

It is a museum about a ship that was discovered on the bottom of the sea in 1997. It turned out that the ship sank at the end of XV - beginning of XVI century. An expedition was organized at the end of 90-ies to get all artifacts from the sea. They discovered more than 13.000 different objects. Most of the exponats are ceramic or glass objects. The entrance is free but you are not allowed to take pictures inside. The most interesting is a short movie, how the ship was discovered and how people from all over the world came to Brunei to get out the objects on the top.

Museum ini terletak agak jauh dari pusat bandar sekitar 20 menit. Museum ini cukup menarik karena koleksi museum ini sebagian besar berasal dari barang-barang yang terdapat di dalam kapal yang karam di sekitar Brunei ratusan tahun yang silam. Museum ini cukup terawat padahal masuk ke museum ini tidak dipungut bayaran. Sayang museum ini tidak menyediakan pemandu yang bisa menjelaskan lebih detil dari pada sekedar tulisan di setiap koleksi. Lanskap di sekitar museum juga sangat indah karena museum ini berada persis di tepi sungai Brunei.

Exceeded our expectations! Annoying that, as is quite usual in Brunei, no photos allowed. However an interesting look at the Brunei shipwreck from 1997 and a little bit about Kota Batu upstairs. The other gallery was shut on our visit so no idea what was in there!!
