My kids had a great time (three kids ages 6, 8 & 10) . We came for the Hanukkah workshop. My children really enjoyed the experience. We attended the English session and our guide was wonderful. They learned about the Roman period and how they made olive oil. They gathers their own olives and learned the techniques used long ago. They had the opportunity to shoot a bow and arrow, make their own pita and have hot tea cooked over the outdoor fire and ended with making their own clay oil lamp. They especially liked making their own pita bread. Hope to come back when we are back in Israel for Passover.

Great experience for my 9 and 11 year old sons. They loved it and learned a lot. It definitely helped them to better appreciate other ancient sites in Israel by helping them to better understand the Roman period. We participated in the mosaic activity which was also a great hit.

לא שווה את הכסף או הזמן, וזה ממישהו שביקר 5 או 6 פעמים בעבר עם הילדים אחרים.

К огромному сожалению, это место перестало быть привлекательным. Более 12 лет ежегодно привозила сюда внуков, и впечатление было замечательным. Очередного посещения дети ждали целый год Новшества, введенные с этого года с целью экономии бюджета, уничтожили все то, что составляло притягательность этого места. Во-первых, билеты продаются только на 2 часа, которые включают часовую экскурсию по музею, совершенно безграмотную, и 4 точки кружков, которые проводит все тот же единственный экскурсовод. За это время невозможно успеть испечь питу, сплести "индейский глаз", сделать фреску и слепить фигурку из глины. Все эти точки находятся на маленькой площади, где нет места для сидения, нет воды. Экскурсовод не обращает внимания, как дети справляются с заданием, успевают ли понять и сделать.
В прошлые годы мастерских было гораздо больше, в конце августа дети всегда давили виноград, можно было несколько раз посетить понравившуюся мастерскую, да и в каждой мастерской был свой инструктор. Очень жаль. Внучка была совершенно расстроена сегодняшним мероприятием. Больше мы туда не поедем.

took my 5 year old grandson to the museum yesterday and although they enjoyed learning about how water was transferred from a pond to agricultural plots, there were a few issues that need to be improved. For starters, the place physically is one of the least accessible places ever., as it is built into the side of a mountain, naturally there are different levels. getting from level to level was through series of stairs- made out of stone - in keeping with the ancient theme. many , if not most of these stairs did not even have banisters. the stair risers were not equal heights and many stairs were actually broken,. i came with pain in both knees from all of this. additionally there was not enough staff on hand to help with the workshops that were included in the tour , creating a situation where our group only was able to do 2 of the promised four workshops and the the wait for each kid was rather long. and they needed more staff at all of the stations not just the one guide

A great place for families. My grandchildren loved all the projects that they could do at a relaxed pace. A very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful, happy experience even for grandparents.

באנו לבקר בחול המועד סוכות זוג עם שני ילדיו בני 5 ו-7. מאד נהנו. שהינו במקום כשעתיים וזה לא הספיק. סדנאות מעניינות, בעלי מקצוע מהתקופה הרומית, כולל כאלו מאיטליה שבאו במיוחד, שחקנים ומדריכים. הכול מאוד מושקע. נהנו ולמדנו המון.

Hiya. How did you get there with your kids? Did you have to be part of a group or could you just arrive and visit?
We will have five of our six with us (one is 16, the others, 2, 3, 5 and 6 nearly 7).

We took a bus and then walked. You do not need reservations.
There is one entrance fee. The walk was a bit far. On the way home we did bus and taxi. It is a great place for families with kids.
