From start to finish, the trip exceeded my expectations. It was very well organized, and ran super efficiently. Our trip leader was outstanding - Mutaz! I've been fortunate to travel all over the world with some guided and some unguided travel, and Mutaz was the best! The scenery was incredible - very diverse. I also appreciated the Boudin's and their culture - they were wonderful hosts. Food was adequate. Hotels selected were great.
Highly recommend this trip.
Highly recommend this trip.

This was a bucket list trip
The itinerary : We booked the 10D private tour which includes the hike from Dana to Petra, a jeep tour of Wadi Rum, and a resort day at the Dead Sea to round it off.
The prep : Raisa our Tour Designer was patient in answering all our questions and helped adjust the itinerary to fit our schedule. She was extremely responsive and helpful, even when we had a few schedule changes close to departure.
The trek : What can I say, it was breathtaking. We went in autumn, so it was pretty arid (none of the wild flowers you see in some of the videos online) but this means the weather was pleasant and dry throughout. Nevertheless, the scenery changed from day to day, with magnificent desert vistas as well as amazing sunsets were unbelievable. There is also a sense of solitude which is deeply peaceful. We are not super seasoned hikers but have done some of the classic - albeit less technical - trails (Kilimanjaro, Inca Trail). We found this quite challenging with some heart stopping moments where we have to traverse the side of cliffs and there did not seem to be a marked path (virtually no one does this without an experienced guide). You go for about 15 km a day, but there is a variety of difficulty levels ie first day was fairly ok as you descend into the valley, second day a lot of incline, third day some ups and downs, etc. NEVER a dull moment.
The guides : We were accompanied by our English-speaking guide Furat, as well as our local Bedouin guide and his donkey Marzog (who we fell in love with). They kept our spirits up through some of the more hard going bits, and made sure we got to the end of each day safe, motivated and filled with a sense of achievement.
The accommodation and food: Accommodation for the three days in the wild is in camps which are set up by their Bedouin support team who also prepare evening meals for you. Accommodation are single tents with mattress, pillow and thick blankets which are needed at night. Food was delicious and served around a bonfire while you enjoy the sunset. This is a rare pleasure which I cannot recommend enough. The same team also transports your luggage from day to day so all you have to do is carry a day pack during the trek. Special mention is the presence of toilets and showers which are set up each day at the camp. These are necessarily basic but I cannot tell you how important it was to have access to these facilities at the end of a long, dusty trek.
Petra : Because of how we approach Petra, from the back entrance - this is THE only way you should experience this magnificent archaeological marvel because it reveals itself to you in stages before you get to the main event (yes, the Indiana Jones photo op). You also get to go back a second day to experience Petra through a relatively tourist-free hike around the rim of the site which was unexpected and special.
We capped off the trip with a fun jeep ride around Wadi Rum and some exciting mini-scrambles up large rocks (just when we thought the hiking was over), and of course a super relaxing resort day at the Dead Sea. The design of this itinerary could not be more perfect.
Unforgettable! Thanks to all at Experience Jordan.
PS Given some may well be concerned with developments in the broader region, we can report that Jordan felt extremely safe during our visit so please do not let that deter you in any way.

What a fantastic experience! Jordan is a beautiful country with so much to see. Our trek took us through some stunning and unique landscapes. Everyone we met, in Amman and in the desert, was friendly, polite and helpful. Even in a big city like Amman, you never feel unsafe.
The tour itself was very well organised from start to finish. Everything communicated well, quick response times before the tour.
On the tour itself, we could not have asked for a better guide - Motaz Zghoul is just the best. Nothing was any trouble, he looked after everyone well, and he was just a very fun and lovely person to be on the tour with. I have no doubt our tour was only as amazing as it was thanks to Motaz - he’s a great ambassador for his country!
100% recommend visiting Jordan, Experience Jordan, and specifically Motaz!

Amazing trek, with great guide and Donkey. Breathtaking view, tea every day in an unbelievable and 100% disconnected environment.
Sleeping in the desert watching the stars is a must have experience
Organization was 10/10 from A to Z.

We went as a family (our two boys are 16 and 13 years old) to do the Dana to Petra trek. I must say that this trip went far beyond our expectations, it was probably the best trek we ever did. The part of the Jordan trail between Dana and Petra is absolutely marvellous, a scenery like in a fairy tale. The camping in the wild was a unique adventure. But the best by far was the guide Mutaz Jarrar and the team of Attalah, the Beduine family of Eid and the donkey Torrod. Mutaz is the best guide you could wish for to do this trip, experienced, motivating, funny and always full of information about this amazing country and the people. His guidance made this trek an unforgettable experience.
We keep him and the team in our hearts and hope to do this trip again one day.

I did the Dana to Petra hike. It was one of the best holidays ever.
The desert scenery was fantastic. Beautiful rock formations, hug sweeping views over the Wadi Arabie rift valley.
The guides and support staff were brilliant. Attulah our local guide with his donkey Torid. Eid and his family driving ahead in their pickup setting up our camp each day. The fabulous food cooked by Um Saba. And our brilliant leader, Mutaz Jarrar whose personality made the trip such a fun and insightful experience.
It was a compete privalage to be out in the desert with Mutaz and the Bedouin team. I will certainly try to get back to do the trip again.
Petra was a fine destination, but the trek getting there was the true highlight of my holiday in Jordan.

I had the most incredible time on the 5 day trek from Dana to Petra! The trip was very well organized, which made for a very fun and relaxed experience. Our guide, Mutaz Jarrar, was the best! He was very friendly and informative, and encouraged a fun environment where we could all connect. I will never forget singing and dancing around the campfire at night! I absolutely loved the variety and quality of food that was provided to us, especially as a vegetarian. I felt like I was eating so healthy the whole time! It was great being able to sleep on mattresses in the tents and the bedouin camp on the last day was a wonderful place to stay for our last night. Arriving in Petra through the back entrance where there were so few tourists was an unforgettable experience! I’d highly recommend this trek to anyone who’s into hiking and/or exploring other countries.

If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure, look no further than the breathtaking five-day trek from Dana to Petra with Experience Jordan Adventures! This journey simply blew me away, filled with stunning landscapes, rich culture, and a team that feels more like family than guides.
From the moment we began, I was so impressed by the incredible hospitality of the entire team. Ayman, one of the owners, and Mohammed, the operations manager, were absolute legends! Their dedication to making our experience perfect was evident right from the start. But the true star of our journey was our guide, Mutaz Jarrar! Friendly, professional, and so personable, Mutaz went above and beyond to ensure every single one of us felt included, safe, and truly cared for. His attentiveness made the trek not just a hike, but a shared adventure that we'll cherish forever.
And then there was the fabulous support crew! Eid and his son Atallah were phenomenal, with Eid's wife preparing an endless array of mouthwatering meals that highlighted the rich culinary tradition of the local Bedouins. A special shout-out goes to Atallah’s trusty donkey, Tarrad, who quickly became everyone's favorite team member. We probably took more photos with Tarrad than of the trail itself!
One thing we were all extremely impressed by was the sustainability of the trip and the company in general. From metal plates and forks to reusable lunch bags, Experience Jordan Adventures makes a real effort to minimize waste. It felt amazing to be part of a journey that respects and cares for the beautiful environment we were exploring.
And then there was the actual trek! We made our way through what looked like a mix of Australia’s red center, Southern Utah, and Arizona. Beautiful sandstone rock formations, deep slot canyons, and golden hills were just a few of the highlights that made this tour feel like you were on another planet - and we had it all to ourselves. We had plenty of water and tea breaks in the shade overlooking some of the most gorgeous landscapes I’ve ever seen. We went at a really accessible and easy going pace and finished with a tour of Petra - one of the seven wonders of the world and a place that simply will blow your mind. This trip has shot to the top of my favorite multi-day treks.
So, if you want to create memories that will last a lifetime and make amazing new friends in the process, come visit Jordan and book the 5 day trek from Dana to Petra with Experience Jordan Adventures. Don’t forget to ask if Mutaz Jarrar is available (you won’t regret it)! This hike is a must-do — it will capture your heart and soul!

Greetings from Experience Jordan Adventures,
Thank you so much for this truly unique and detailed review! It was a pleasure to meet you in Amman.
We're delighted that your five-day trek from Dana to Petra with us had a profound impact. It means the world to us that you had such an unforgettable experience, from the stunning landscapes to the hospitality and care our entire team shows.
We're pleased to hear that Mutaz elevated your trek to an extraordinary level. Mutaz truly embodies the spirit of what we strive for—offering not just a guided tour but a shared journey where everyone feels included, safe, and connected. We’ll make sure to pass on your kind words to him, Eid, and Atallahas. It’s always wonderful to hear when our guests form special bonds with the whole team (donkey included!).
We’re also so glad you appreciated the extra effort we put into sustainability. Preserving the environment while sharing the beauty of Jordan is something we take very seriously, and it’s fantastic that our commitment to minimizing waste, using reusable materials, and respecting the natural surroundings made your adventure feel even more meaningful.
The way you described the landscapes—comparing them to the red center of Australia, Southern Utah, and Arizona—perfectly captures the magic of this trek. Jordan’s beauty is indeed otherworldly, and we love that you felt like you had the trail all to yourselves, immersed in such breathtaking scenery. Your account of the water and tea breaks overlooking those gorgeous landscapes makes us smile, as those moments of reflection and peace are a special part of the experience.
Finishing the trek with a visit to Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is always the highlight, and we're thrilled it left you in awe. It’s lovely to hear that this adventure has become one of your favorite multi-day treks—what an honor for us!
Thank you again for your heartfelt recommendation. We’re overjoyed that you created lasting memories and formed new friendships along the way. We hope this journey will always hold a special place in your heart, and we would love to welcome you back to Jordan for another adventure in the future!
Sincerely,

Hello
we would like to travel through Jordan in june/july. But we're afraid of too high temperature...
Is it possible or very hard then? (childeren 15-21 years)
เขียนเมื่อ 14 ตุลาคม 2019
Yes it will be very hot during June and July. I suggest that you look at one of the weather sites and get an idea of the exact temperatures during that that time.
Good luck and have fun.

The price for a driver plus hiking guide is substantially more expensive. What would we miss out on by paying only for a driver?
เขียนเมื่อ 2 พฤศจิกายน 2016
When I went we kind of did our own research on the sights we were going to visit and just had the driver. That would be my best advice. Had a ball, didn't miss a beat.

Can your tours accommodate children 3 and 4 years old or is it too extreme?

Hello
I manage myself with trip advisor and some advise on google forums, but it's a very touristic country, you can manage easily a perfect tour! And i give you an advise, rent a car, it's cheaper...

Do you mean all your visit to holy land and Jordan will be for 4 or 5 days?in this case it is not enough..for Petra and wadi rum 24 hours :leaving Amman early morning to Petra ..entrance to Petra 50 jd for non arab people..you will leave Petra at 6pm to Wadi Rum..sleaping in one of two camps there "i prefer Jabal Ali Camp"..at 6am tour in the desert and sunset watching..after breakfast in the camp you will leave to dead sea arriving at twelve check in at 3pm in one of the hotels"i prefer Marriott"SPA and swimming..at twelve you will leave to Al Maghtas where Jesus has been baptezided..after the tour of 4 hours back to Amman..the day after visit to jerash and back to Amman in the afternoon..rest for two hours and visit to down town Amman Roman temple and national museum..the day after leaving Amman early to Om Qais and the humma original SPA at the border line with Israel..return to Amman in late evening..now for eating lunch box going to Petra..diner in the camp in Wadi Rum..in dead sea Marriott restaurants are wonderful..in Amman for arab food:deir al kamar restaurant..Narenj restaurant..Levant restaurant..for french food L'Entrecote a Dabouk e La Maison Verte a Shmeisani..for Chinese food Ren Chai near Royal hotel..if you want more informations ask and i will help you..for holy land minimum 6 days..and after visiting holy land no entrance to Syria,Lebanon and Iraq
