At the feet of the magnificent Winter Palace Hotel this shop takes you to another time. Beautiful collection of pictures of Luxor in early 20th century and good books to take as a memory of charming Luxor. The also sell accessories and local art.

The shop has a nice selection of souvenirs and books. The personnel is very kind and don't rush you at all. And most important - the prices are fixed.

for books about Luxor and Egypt, photographs of old Luxor, curios, Egyptian cotton, etc. The choice of books is not to be dismissed as amateurish, it is really good and Mrs Gaddis is a very pleasant, knowledgeable lady (my wife says the old saleswoman is too pressing however).

Una gran tienda, los precios son justos y fijos. Hay gran variedad de recuerdos, artesanías, textiles, libros, joyería y de más. La compra es relajada pues no hay que soportar tener a alguien tratando de venderte a precios altísimos. Esta muy cerca del templo de Luxor, en el palacio de inviernos! El mejor lugar para llevarse un recuerdo de Luxor.

I checked out this place because of the reviews I’d read on TA. I enjoyed the photos by Gaddis very much especially those of the people.

Délicieux magasin que ce Gaddis ! Un charme fou que celui de ses vitrines et de son agencement intérieur. On y trouve plein de souvenirs et de livres de qualité. Des nappes charmantes, des écharpes, de petites tasses, etc. Les prix sont indiqués et c'est vraiment une bonne chose car ainsi on fait son choix en fonction de son budget et l'on évite l'épuisement du marchandage. Les prix sont très corrects et les vendeurs très charmants, intelligents, adorables. Un endroit où il fait bon flâner. Une adresse à retenir à Louxor tellement c'est charmant et reposant d'y être !

We passed this shop on the way to the Winter Palace next door. I had seen it reviewed on TA so persuaded my husband to let me have a quick look. It is much more than a souvenir shop. They have a lovely range of hand woven cotton scarves and tops in jewel colours, beautiful jewellery, very well priced souvenirs and a fascinating range of vintage photographs by the founder Mr Gaddis who was photographing Luxor in the early 20 th Century. The prices are fixed which makes for a relaxed atmosphere. The reason I say its worth it in more than one way is that as well as being a great place to find things it's also very reasonable. A head of Bastet the cat goddess which in our hotel the man wanted 300 Egyptian for was 60 in this shop for exactly the same thing. I am going back without my husband to spend more time !!

Toller Bookstore. Bin immer noch geflasht von dem Angebot. Feste faire Preise , man wird nicht genervt mit Werbesprüchen der Angestellten und Highlight, die alten S/W Fotografien vom Grossvater. Die Geschichte kann man googeln. Und eine Zusammenstellung kann man kaufen. Jede Menge Fachbücher zum alten und neuem Ägypten. Toll

Il y a de bonnes adresses. Il y a de mauvaises adresses. Mais des très bons plans, il y en a vraiment très peu.
Cette boutique de souvenirs fait partie des très bons plans. Pour vous donner un exemple, la même statue en albâtre que vous trouverez dans n’importe quel souk ou boutique à 110 € et que vous négocierez entre 45 et 65 euros vous est proposé ici à 7,50 €.
Les prix sont fixes, pas besoin de négocier, les vendeurs ne sont pas derrière votre dos en permanence.
Vous trouverez ici un choix de librairie en français et d’autres souvenirs originaux à des prix toujours aussi compétitifs.
C’est suffisamment rare pour être signalé et vous recommander cette boutique existant depuis 1901 sans aucune hésitation.

I like to mail and also collect postcards on my trips, and found Egypt to be quite lacking in this aspect. This company has an EXCELLENT selection of postcards. They range from your standard city shots to historical classic images to local art images.
The store also has a very good selection of handmade crafts from local artists in the area. No hassling!!!
I highly recommend this to anyone who is tired of being hassled in the main market area. It's located next to the Sofitel Winter Palace.
