We had our own driver and vehicle. Although we went on the game drive in the afternoon we saw lots of animals! We had spent a week on safari in Tanzania and never got so close to Rhinos! This park has a bit of a surreal feeling because in places you can see the city in the distance. The nature walk was fun but be ready to be led to a group of women trying to sell souvenirs.

Our family had a super cool adventure with Tanzania Horizon Safaris! First, we went to Nairobi National Park as a daytrip, a special place where animals live right next to the city. We saw rhinos, giraffs and buffalos – it was a mini safari right near Nairobi to start iur Trip. After Safari we went to the Giraffe Center as well.
After our exciting day, we stayed at Panari Hotel. It was a comfy place with big beds and yummy food. The hotel had a nice pool where we splashed around and had so much fun. The staff was really friendly and made sure we felt happy and safe.
Our guide Julius from Tanzania Horizon Safaris was awesome. He told us interesting facts about the animals and took us on a special safari adventure. It was a short trip, but we had the best time ever! We'll always remember our Nairobi National Park safari and our stay at Panari Hotel with Tanzania Horizon Safaris.

We went when the dry period was coming to an end, so many animals seemed hungry. Still we could see lions, buffaloes, hippos, giraffes, ostriches, antilopes, lots of birds, etc. Really worth going. Entrance was 45 $ if I remember well, credit cards accepted.

With the backdrop of the city - the national park is perfect for a quick safari - there’s an abundance of animals after COVID and if you go with someone who knows where to look, you can get very lucky with some great animal sitings. Recommended for an afternoon trip to see animals from the city.

This was the first place we visited when we arrived in Nairobi.
Was well worth while, before we headed out on our 2 week Safari. Just adds another park to the equation, especially if you only have 5 days or a week in Kenya. Saw a lot of the animals, lions, hippo, zebra, giraffe, impala, elephants, crocodile, gazelle etc, all with the back drop of Nairobi city.
Not sure there are too many places in the world you can do that.
Pretty good start to an incredible trip.

To access the national park, you have to pay online in advance on the government portal. I paid for myself, my wife, friend and even the Uber driver and his car the night before we were going. Upon arrival at the gate, we were told that we hadn't paid. When I tried to log in to the website to prove that I had paid, it continually crashed. So 'customer services', a lady called Fridah Nyambura, disappeared with my phone for 5 minutes and then made us pay again using her account. I was then given a digital receipt and told to proceed. We drove 100 metres where an older male ranger stopped us, told us that the receipt was invalid and that as we hadn't paid, we now had to pay him. Having now paid 3 times, we were finally allowed to proceed to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, which is where we actually wanted to go rather than the national park, arriving 15 minutes late after spending an hour trying to enter the park. Just too much incompetence and corruption!!!

We visited the park as part of a group safari tour using the drivers and jeeps we used the whole trip. We stopped at the restrooms at the entrance gate. We were amazed at the number of animals we saw there with the city skyline in the background. We saw Rothschild’s giraffe; helmeted guineafowl; cape buffalo; yellow-billed oxpecker; ostrich; spur-winged plover; blacksmith plover; impala; plains zebra; sacred ibis; Nile crocodile; Marabou stork; hippopotamus; Egyptian goose; vervet monkey; eland; lion; Coke’s hartebeest. Some of the folks in the other jeeps also saw rhinoceros.
After a 1.5 hour game drive, we went to the Sheldrick elephant orphanage which is inside the bounds of the park; that has a separate review.

Meine halbtägige Tour durch den Nairobi Nationalpark wurde zu einem weiteren Highlight während meines Aufenthaltes in Kenia. Eintrittspreiserhöhung und Onlinebuchung sind nicht unbedingt touristenfreundlich.

We included as part of our larger safari tour that was last in 2 1/2 weeks but from other TripAdvisor reviews that I’ve read there are people right outside the gate that you can pay that will take you around the park. I highly recommend while visiting in Nairobi it was fantastic. You may even be able to find more information reading the comments that’s how I knew I wanted to go was from other visitors comments and they keep mentioning one guy that’s particularly good

I have seen an option for a night game viewing with african spice tours, has anyone ever done this? i can’t find any reviews, but they have been very responsive to me when inquiring about booking

That sounds exciting, we went in the morning. I had not heard of this we were on such a tight schedule but we were very happy with our half day in the park we saw so many animals it was like being on a mini Safari in four hours

Sorry -- I contracted with AfricaVisa Travel, and they sent a bush bus to pick me up, and the driver handled all the details. I just sat back and enjoyed the trip!
