We had a trip booked and it got cancelled at the last minute because the the owner just disappeared. Cost us money that we didn't all get back and a lot of planning all for nothing. Really soured us on going to Kenya at all.

Ich würde die Agentur nicht empfehlen für eine Safari.
Wir hatten zu Beginn unserer Reise duech Kenia einen sehr unmotivierten Reiseleiter. Er hat uns sehr selten etwas über die Flora & Fauna erzählt und zusätzlich konnte er keine einzige Frage unsererseits beantworten, weil er die Antwort nicht kannte.
Wir wurden am Schluss unserer Reise einfach nicht am Flughafen abgeholt, obwohl dies so abgemacht war. Nach 4 Stunden (!) warten, haben wir uns entschlossen ein Taxi zu nehmen um weiter zu kommen. Otieno versprach uns das Geld dafür zu überweisen (für Taxi + Essen), weil wir dies ja eigentlich bereits bezahlt hatten. Bis jetzt haben wir nicht zurückerstattet bekommem. Otieno ignoriert unsere E-Mails, SMS und Anrufe; wir haben keine Chance in Kontakt zu treten.
Ich würde die Agentur nicht weiterempfehlen; lieber gibt man ein Paar Dollars mehr aus & erspart sich den Ärger.

As many others have attested, this tour company and its owner, Mr. Otieno Lysaniash, failed to live up to their contract to provide services for a recent trip to Kenya. I booked a safari for a family of 3, made all the necessary arrangements, and paid for a 12-day trip in advance. When it came time to travel to Kenya and arrange pick-up from the airport, Mr. Otieno no longer responded to my emails. It turns out that many other clients who had expected to start their trips during this time were left stranded at the airport. The company office was suddenly closed and their website has since been discontinued. I have contacted the authorities in Kenya about this theft of funds but have received no response from them. Be careful when searching trips to this part of Africa as this company may surface again in another form. Shame on Mr. Otieno for stealing money we paid in good faith for a trip that never took place.

n March my partner and I paid for and booked a safari with KWSS for 21 days, over July and August.
Things started okay, as we met an amazing driver named Sam, however things didn’t run smoothly.
Upon arrival we went to the KWSS office and a slight change was made. To save on driving times the owner (Otieno Lysaniash) recommended we would spend an extra night in the Masai Mara and not spend any time in Amboselli. It’s also important to know that the accommodation that was being changed was a 4.5star camp to a 2 star camp.
As we set off, Sam was keeping all his receipts and paying with his own money, and always on the phone away from us. When we questioned him he said ‘You shouldn’t have to worry about this’. After our 4 days with the driver, we exchanged numbers and were told a new driver would pick us, Sam was not sure what time, but said be ready at 6am.
We have not heard anything from the KWSS office since meeting them in the office. We tried calling Otieno or his team over 100 times and sent emails to no avail. We were very lucky to have met Sam, as he was in contact with us from 9am, letting us know any updates as he found them. At approximately 7pm Sam was in Nairobi and confirmed with us the Mr Otieno had run away with our money, and the police were at the office.
I feel horrible as it’s very hard to get my money back whilst living in a different country. We are also aware that Sam paid for the first 5 days of our safari out of pocket, and he hasn’t received any money back. We are in contact with Sam, trying to get updates, however he is a very busy man who has a family to feed.
If you were looking for a different company we can recommend Bateluer Eagle Safari’s, as they saved our holiday. Sam sent his brother to come and pick us up, who drove us around for 2 days to the police in Nairobi. The owners also went above and beyond, spending over 7 hours as we tried to get a payment sorted for a new safari, on last minute notice. Everything with them ran very smoothly and the upfront communication was very much needed, at a time where we had zero trust in anything.
KWSS was run by a thief who stole our money and many others. I just hope he doesn’t use that money to bribe the officials and get off without paying. We need our money back!

Just like everyone else, we paid in full in advance only to be canceled upon 10 days before our scheduled safari.

I was scheduled to start trip today September 7, 2019. Hugh disappointment! I filed report with Kenya police. I noticed on Safari Bookings that KWSS has filed for bankruptcy. I plan on writing and putting a claim into that Court case.

Arrived at the AZURE HOTEL in Nairobi expecting to begin our safari in the morning. Waited in hotel lobby and no one showed up. The hotel staff were absolutely wonderful! They tried to contact Walking Safaris only to find their phone disconnected, no way to reach them. They then called another travel agent who arranged a whole new itinerary for us. We were able to stop our credit card payment and thankfully didn't lose our money. Hopefully they will be arrested and punished for scamming so many people. The other agent is Crystal Wambugu with I-MOVE TOURS & TRAVEL. She arranged a whole 10 day safari for us that day and we started out the next day. We are so pleased and thankful to her and the company for saving us from going home without a safari at all, because it was high season. We recommend them highly.

We booked with Mr. Otieno last June 2019 for our Aug 2019 safari. We paid 100% last June 19. Received an email last Aug 7 (10 days before our trip start date) that they will not be able to service us due to technical difficulties. Made several emails and phone calls but line has been cut already and no one replying in the email. We had to quickly look for another tour operator given the short period. Most of the operators I contacted cannot accommodate us anymore due to peak season. Luckily we found one, 3 days before our flight. We reported to Tourist Police when we were in Nairobi last Aug 20 and the officer we talked to said that Mr. Otieno has scammed more than USD 111 K already (those who have reported to their station). I don't know if we will be able to recover payment that we made :( I have contacted our credit card company, they are not willing to reverse the charges because they said we authorized the payment last June 2019. I hope the Kenya Tourism Board and Kenya govt do something here as Tourism is one of the main industries of Kenya.

My family had planned and booked KWSS tour for Sept 2019, however in mid July we got an email of the company being shutdown. We lost all the money we had paid as an booking amount. Though the email says the money will be refunded but we don't think it will happen. Turns out that he has scammed in a similar fashion previously also. Do a background check of any your operator you select but definitely don't choose Kenya Walking Survivors Safari.

Kenya walking survivors is a Scam. Please run when you still can and send no money. Many potential tourist have been conned. Its being investigated by the Kenya government for fraud.
Pleasecheck with the Kenya ministry of tourism before contracting them

My mom and her friends booked through the same tour and Mr. Otieno was in touch till couple of days back. Now, he is untraceable, and their tour was supposed to start from 8th og August. I found on internet that this guy has gone missing as he has defaulted on a lot of money and basically has scammed all of his clients. We were forced to make fresh reservations with another tour operator. Basically lost all 25% of our tour cost. It was a substantial amount around 6000 USD.
I would like to travel with my four years old son? Will the trip be too much for him and is there any age restriction as per your programmes??
