Well, it’s basically a trail which has historical buildings and monuments dotted around as you go. Definitely a different bit of character compared to SZ. HK has several of these trails so after a quick search I decided to do the Ping Shan Heritage Trail. It is roughly 3km so not long or hard and it is in Tuen Mun area which is extremely close to the SZBAY border. Here’s my guide if you wanted to check it out.
The trail starts from Tin Shui Wan MTR station exit E. Cross the road and you will soon see the Tsui Shing Lau Pagoda, this is HK’s only ancient pagoda is dates back over 600 years. There was an informative and helpful staff member on duty there, even though the pagoda is quite small. She told me the pagoda was built to improve the Feng Shui of the local area so that flooding disasters were prevented to the village. You can go in and see the shrine and read the information on the wall which gives you its history. You can’t go to the top sadly. There is also a trail map near here which points you in the next direction.
Follow the sign and a short walk later you’ll come across the Shrine of the Earth God. This is an outdoor shrine that’s weathered and aged and has tons of character. If you see this you are going in the right direction. Next on the trail is Sheung Cheung Wai, this is a walled village, made up of a small community of houses or apartments. The alleys are narrow and the building is old and you can smell the history here. I saw everyday people going about their business and not giving me a second look, was a nice change!
Next is the Yeung Hau Temple, small and will be a flying visit but it’s a grade III listed building so worth checking out. The old village well is also in this area, at one point it provided the drinking water for the entire area. As you pass this you’ll enter what is a residential area, with lots of people milling around, doing their daily business. Nothing to see here really, unless you’ve never seen apartment tower blocks before, they are just part of the route. Follow the signs and for the Ancestral Hall and you will soon be through the concrete jungle and back on the historical trail. If you’re feeling peckish, right about now on the trail there is a local little eatery that did fantastic milk tea and local snacks, I really recommend you try this. If you don’t want to satiate your taste buds then keep plodding forward.
Next on the trail are 2 ancestral halls; Tang Ancestral Hall and Yu Kiu Ancestral Hall. These are next to each other and are virtually identical. Except Tang is around 700 years old and Yu Kiu is around 500, they were both members of the same ancestral family. There is also a study hall to see and another small temple, the trail will then lead to the Heritage Trail Visitors Center, which concludes the trail.

Ping Shan Heritage Trail is a pleasant walk through the heartland of Tang clan in the Yuen Long area. With some interesting historic landmarks, it is supposed to be a fun place for all. Unfortunately local villagers closed all buildings along the trail in protest of government policies to develop the area. Therefore this is not a good time to visit.

The Ping Shan Heritage Trail is found in the Yuen Long District. This is one of two self-guided walks in the New Territorities along with the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail near Fanling where visitors can see historic buildings and learn about the culture and history of the Tang Clan which settled in Hong Kong many centuries ago.
This trail is 1.6 km and winds through old villages along an easy to follow path (as long as you use the published trail map). It includes 14 heritage attractions including an ancient pagoda, two temples, several ancestral halls and study halls as well as the remnants of an old walled village. The attractions range in age from 140 to 700 years and several are Declared Monuments of Hong Kong.
Of the heritage attractions you can visit along the Ping Shan trail, the Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery at the old Ping Shan Police Station (stop 1), Yu Kiu Ancestral Hall (stop 6) and Tang Ancestral Hall (stop 7) are most impressive and interesting. Yet, given the proximity most attractions have throughout the trail, they are all worth finding and viewing even if for just a few minutes each.
Note: Most do the trail from south to north, starting at the Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery, which is also a Visitor Centre where you can also pick up the handy trail map which guides you along the trail all the way to the Tat Tak Communal Hall and last stop on the trail. From here you are right next to the Tin Shui Wai MTR and Light Rail Stations, a conveniently location for departing the area after your visit. For those arriving with maps already, you can just as easily do the trail in reverse, ending at the Visitor Centre and then leaving the area by way of the Ping Shan Light Rail Station, a few minutes walk south of here.
Note: The Visitor Centre acts as something of a short museum where you can learn about the history, heritage and culture of the Tang Clan. You will also see panels with summary information for each of the various attractions along the way. Take a picture of each and you basically have a backup guide to use while making your way along the trail. Note that the official trail guide is a brochure as well, providing the same summary information for each attraction.
Note: Many of the attractions along the Ping Shan Heritage Trail have opening hours of 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm daily. As such, be prepared for them to close down from 1-2pm for lunch breaks. There are a few eateries in Ping Shan, including a Thai restaurant near the Tsui Sing Lau Pagoda (stop 13), F1 Cafe just outside the Kun Ting Study Hall (stop 5) and a few casual places along the Ping Ha Road near the beginning of the trail if you find yourself in the area during the lunch period and fancy a bite to eat.
Note: Equally importantly, the attractions mentioned above are closed on Tuesday, meaning it is best to choose a different day of the week to do this self-walk tour.
Note: The Ping Shan Heritage Trail is generally easy to follow but you really need the trail map to make your way from start to finish. There are only a few street signs pointing you in the right direction. Otherwise, the heritage trail is poorly signposted. In addition to picking up the trail map at the main Visitor Centre, you can also find them at the Hong Kong Discovery Centre (Kowloon Park) or just download from the Hong Kong Antiquities & Monuments Office website.
In the end, the Ping Shan Heritage Trail is a good way to spend 3+ hours if you are a history buff or have done the normal rounds of sightseeing around Hong Kong and are looking for a leisurely opportunity to view old historic village buildings in a quieter area of the New Territories. The trail is shorter and easier to follow than its sister trail, the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail near Fanling, which requires better navigation skills to complete. However, I must admit the walled villages on that trail are quite impressive and potentially more interesting than what you see along the Ping Shan trail. Just something to think about if you are considering one trail or the other.

如果要行畢全程大約需要半天的時間～
總共有14個點，今次大概只行了三個點。
其中一個點是 - 覲廷書室 ~ 書室以青磚建造，
內裡的一磚一瓦都表現出工匠的精湛傑作
在書室的旁邊是 - 清暑軒 ~ 樓高兩層，不過第二層封了不能參觀。
這裡是作為到訪賓客及鴻儒的下榻居所。除了廂房，還有浴室和廚房等等
另外還參觀了 鄧氏宗祠，在這出面有一間賣潮式小食 - 元朗合興花生糖
款式頗多，朋友也推介可以買些回家做手信
吃了麥芽糖夾餅！很好吃！於是買了一盒 麥芽糖 ($20) 回家自己整來吃
比起以前超市買到的口感有差，而且現在好像都比較難買到了!?
由於款式真的很多的關係，所以直接買了一盒 - 五色雜錦軟糖 ($45)
不論是黑芝麻還是白芝麻都很香，要說最喜歡吃的是 鴨頸糖
話說我是第一次聽到這個名字的呢～
外層很煙韌，包著的花生甜甜的很不錯
還買了 - 香蕉糕 ($12/小) 很香很軟~
如果大家來行屏山文物徑，不妨在這裡買些回去嚐嚐吧！

這段期間走在屏山文物徑上，實在少了許多遊人，在較寧靜的環境下，重遊古塔、宗廟、鄧氏宗祠、又再看一些舊日的古蹟和圍村的面貌
有朋自遠方來不亦樂乎，在「疫」境中互相問候和祝福，當然要帶他們光顧華嫂冰室，它在古井或鄧氏宗祠附近，注意，是附近，不是隔離
文物徑尾的對面(西鐵站是頭)，有間叫屏山老地方的冰室，有很多特色的香煎肉餅，也要帶好友們品嚐呢
尋古和美食之行，就這樣充實地渡過了

中心部からは離れているが、MTR出口近くからスタートできるので、散策しやすい史跡群。イギリス統治前の香港が分かる建造物に無料で入れるのでありがたいです。

Decidimos recorrer este itinerario cultural escapando del cemento y el agobio de la ciudad. Es una manera diferente de conocer HK y adentrarse en la verdadera cultura y patrimonio de sus habitantes.
El recorrido empieza en la pagoda de Tsui Shing Lau, se llega fácilmente con la West Rail Line, estación con el mismo nombre del edificio. Allí nos acoge una simpática y dicharachera señora que nos entrega un mapa del itinerario y nos explica cuatro cosas.
Es una agradable paseo a pie por pequeños y tranquilos vestigios históricos privos de visitantes.
Un par de consejos: no siempre está bien señalizado; templos y edificios cierran al mediodía para el almuerzo (y no siempre son puntuales para la reapertura de la tarde); cuidado con calor y mosquitos.
Muy recomendable
El recorrido empieza en la pagoda de Tsui Shing Lau, se llega fácilmente con la West Rail Line, estación con el mismo nombre del edificio. Allí nos acoge una simpática y dicharachera señora que nos entrega un mapa del itinerario y nos explica cuatro cosas.

如果我睇左評論先，我絕對唔會塞時間黎睇所謂的古蹟。一路基本睇唔到指示，只有臭水渠同垃圾相陪。那些歷久失修的祠堂真是打卡就完，不值得特等到訪

Hi. May I know how long the whole trail experience would take? We are schedule to arrive at 2:00 p.m. in Hong Kong. Can we still make insert the activity on the same day of arrival? please advise.

I think you only need 2-3 hours for the trail. It would be hard to reach the starting point of the trail before it gets dark if you arrive in HK at 2pm. I advise you to explore the streets of Hong Kong and take the tram to the Peak on your day of arrival, then maybe see this trail the following day (also this trail is not one of the main sights in HK, but I still recommend it). Hope this helps!
