It's pretty clear at first sight. A tough man (figuratively Indonesia, though Indonesia is also feminine in Indonesian) with huge strong hands (meaning working) has broken the chains of freedom and is very happy about it! Those were my first impressions. It didn't quite turn out that way.West Irian is West New Guinea, which became part of Indonesia well after the main territories. It is this territory, its final liberation, that is dedicated to the monument and the park around it. The monument is very similar in composition to a similar one, Bundaran HI (Greeting Monument ) located two kilometers north. There are also people with disproportionate hands, probably also working.) We were walking in the area so came to have a look at the monument which is quite dramatic. He has huge hands! Interesting politics on this one, as one colonial power replaced another….

Just a walking distance from istiqulal mosque and jakartha cathedral. The monument is 66 meter tall and the top there is a huge bronze man's stratue. The stratue is tall about 11 feets. The is bulit for the memorial of the independence from Netherlands. there is nothing to see much, only the tower..

Known as Lapangan Banteng, this monument become popular after being revitalized to a great public area with green park and fountain shown every night.
Best time to visit between 05-08 pm so you will get best view of the monument before sun goes down, than watch the fountain. Best route to visit with Monas, National Gallery, Istiqlal, and Cathedral.
