A great day trying out batik painting for the first time. The family were all very friendly, patient and helpful, carefully explaining and demonstrating the different steps involved. They took care to ensure we were satisfied with our paintings, giving us the opportunity to try different techniques or even repaint sections. Highly recommended.

I really recommend this batik course! They explained every step very patiently and you can take the time you need.

Had a nice batik course today at batik kelik. Teachers speak good English and explain well. They have many nice examples from which you can choose to make your own batik

We first learned to practice the batik technique and were then allowed to work at our own pace. They were very patient with us and very helpful. They made sure that mistakes were corrected and the result was impressive!

This studio is the real deal.
There are a lot of aggressive batik classes in Jogja, but we happened upon this wonderful studio on a walk, and upon hearing of its affiliation with ViaVia (💯), signed up for a class the next day. The duration of the class depends on how quickly you pick up the skill and how complicated of a design you choose to make. We spent five hours on our designs, choosing one more complex design and having a lot of fun with watercolor dye on the simpler design. Heri and Susy were absolutely wonderful and patient, explaining everything super well, being our cheerleaders when we were in doubt, and also keeping us laughing through the process. This has been a highlight of our Indonesia honeymoon thus far, and our designs are awesome. Highly recommend allowing this into your schedule if you can! Beats batik shopping for sure.

Amazing. Susie and Harry so patient with me and my two daughters (age 9 and 11). Makes you really appreciate the beautiful art and hard work to make batik everywhere. Highly recommend!

A must do when you're in Yogya! It does take you almost a full day but the results are amazing. I really found a new respect for batik art. Susi is also very nice and helpful, and so were the other guys. There's some waiting in between because it needs to dry but totally worth taking this piece of art home with me :)!

De Batik cursus is mogelijk 1 van de leukste dingen die we tijdens onze maand in Indonesië gedaan hebben. Susi spreekt vloeiend Engels en wist alles heel goed uit te leggen. Voor je het weet zit je op een krukje naast een pan kokende was de eerste lijnen op je doek te zetten. Je krijgt al snel een hoop respect voor de mensen die veel grotere doeken met veel ingewikkelder patronen maken. Zelfs met zo'n klein doekje ben je al een halve middag bezig. De tijd vliegt voorbij en je hebt gelijk een leuke souvenir.
We verbleven in de Airbnb naast Batik Kelik en twee dagen na de cursus heeft Susi ons nog meegenomen naar een grote parade in het paleis van de Sultan, ter ere van het Suikerfeest. Super leuk om te zien, en iets wat we uit ons zelf niet snel gedaan hadden.

Susy and Heri were great teachers. We arrived at 9am to their place and they explained the batik technique, and then went through it step by step. During the class they were patient and helpful. Time flew, suddenly it was 2pm. We had so much fun! Also Susy provided snacks, and when it was time for lunch, she picked it up for us from her neighbors. Unique experience. I would take the class again for sure :)
