Bellavista was favorite neighborhood

This was one of my favorite neighborhoods in Santiago. We stayed in the area around Pablo Neruda's house and could easily walk to the local restaurants and bars. The neighborhood felt safe and was pedestrian friendly. The zoo and funicular are close by, too.

It is well worth wandering around this area to enjoy the fantastic street. Art. The artists are clearly very talented. It’s very close to the entrance for the funicular. There are also lots of vibrant bars and restaurants.

Interesting to see and learn about the murals.

We toured this area with an artist who could explain much of what was going on as well as the history of the murals. It was interesting to have an explanation from someone who was knowledgeable. We did not feel especially safe in the area and would not go there on our own. Santiago has had a lot of unrest recently and has many issues resulting from immigrants. The murals are interesting, but the graffiti is sad. People have chosen to destroy other people’s property for no purpose. The murals were started as a way to help combat this issue. For the most part, there was limited graffiti on the murals. The murals are colorful and a unique form of art which we enjoyed seeing.

Es un barrio colorido de Santiago, ofrece una gran variedad gastronómica para todos los gustos. Y cuenta con varias ubicaciones claves para recorrer como turista. Totalmente recomendable para toda la familia.

Careful what restaurant you pick!

This is a colourful place, a relatively clean community with nice homes and plenty of restaurants, cake/coffee cafes, ice creameries etc. good except we went for dinner. I wish I had taken notice of where we ate as the food was the worst, the driest pasta ever tasted and not what I ordered, Shame, as it was a waste of time, money and a good night out. So be careful where you go, and if there’s not that many in the place then there’s obviously a reason!

Interesting neighbourhood

A very safe area to wander during the day and take in the wonderful array of coloured facades and street art. Couple that with a large choice of dining establishments and is a wonderful bohemiam feel. At night, many more clubs open to bring the area alive. A fun part of Santiago.
