This place costs $4.00. What I liked about the museum was how descriptive it was and the exhibits are really great. For non-Spanish speakers, they give you a guide to do a self-guided tour around the space. You can take that home for $2. You get to explore pre-colombian culture, which is really nice. You can visit this place on your way back from the Pumapungo Museum to the city center.

I enjoyed knowing I wasn't in for a marathon; there's only a few rooms. The artifacts are plentiful and fascinating. Some might prefer more information about the pieces, but I enjoyed just looking them over. The gift shop was quite nice, it's where I bought my trinkets for friends back home. The staff were helpful but unobtrusive. I didn't try the cafe but the courtyard setting is quite pleasant.

J’étais seule ce matin dans ce musée et grâce à la brochure remarquablement rédigée en français et bien illustrée la visite est fluide et suit bien la chronologie des 15 chapitres. Il y a une profusion d’objets extraordinaires, et ils sont exposés dans une simplicité extrême, on pourrait les toucher si on osait ! On peut d’ailleurs en toucher certains comme les haches musicales qu’on peut faire tinter à l’aide d’un caillou. On découvre plein de choses sur cette civilisation, c’est magnifique, émouvant ! Certains vases où certaines statuettes sont recollées et on imagine la difficulté pour les archéologues de reconstituer ces vestiges retrouvés en mille morceaux ! Il y a une grande boutique d’objets et un café sympa ! A voir absolument !

This museum is jam packed with well preserved artifacts from pre Columbian cultures in Ecuador. It could use more contextualizarían, but space doesn’t allow for it.

Situé calle Larga près du rio Tomebamba au Sud de la vieille ville, le musée des cultures aborigènes expose 5 000 pièces (céramiques, bijoux, ustensiles) représentatives de la culture des différents peuples précolombiens d'Equateur. Quelques fiches explicatives sont en français. La collection est très riche, mais, probablement par faute de moyens, mal mise en valeur. Très intéressant néanmoins. Entrée 4$ / personne. A faire.

Não se enganem pelo aparente pequeno tamanho do museu, é um ótimo museu, com um acervo grande e rico sobre os mais diversos povos pré-colombianos, esculturas, cerâmicas, pontas de flechas, instrumentos cerimoniais entre outros, tudo bem explicado, desde os primeiros povos da região até o Império Inca. Alguns artefatos antigos surpreendentemente bem trabalhados. Imperdível!

This was a nice stop while wandering around Cuenca. Terrific collection of artifacts, some dating back to 5000 BC - amazing. Throw the front desk a couple bucks and enjoy the nifty collection on the second floor. There is English translations so you know what you are looking at. When done, there is a nice gift store and cafe on the ground level. Well done!
