My mother and I wished to explore more of inland Fiji so we visited Fiji’s Finest Tours in Port Denarau to see what options were available. After discussing this with Hanisi, who was very helpful, we booked a spot to undertake the ‘Valley of a Thousand Hills’ tour.
The morning tour, which ran for approximately five hours, began with a visit to the first Fijian landing where we heard Kai Vuda’s origin myth. The next stop was an historic ancient village site which was accessed via climbing a very steep and precarious staircase. This was worth the trek as we got to see the installation stones and hear of how the people protected their village.
Following this, it was time to buckle up in the modern 4WD for the drive past sugar cane farmland to a peak 2000 ft above sea level. This journey took us through the valley of a thousand hills to the final destination that provided spectacular views of Nadi and the Mamanuca Islands. Whilst we took in these sights, we were provided with local seasonal fruit for refreshment.
Our tour guide Rinal was an absolute legend! He was so kind, informative and made the whole tour so much fun.
I HIGHLY recommend this tour as it shows that there is a lot more than beaches to see in Fiji.

We really wanted to experience a bit of Fiji that was outside the resorts and were recommended this tour by our driver who took us to our resort from the airport. This particular tour was run by TTF/Great Sights Fiji. There are many other operators running similar tours.
We booked through our hotel and were promptly picked up by our guide, Solomon, in a modern Toyota Prado 4x4 wagon. there was ample room for us all and the A/C worked well (essential for this time of year!!). Solomon had a wealth of knowledge about Fiji, the culture, politics, traditions and anything else we could think of! He was an amazing host and we were able to visit the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, Viseisei village, Nadi Hindu temple and a bit of shopping in Nadi.
The Gardens were amazing and it was beautiful to see the orchids, bananas, pineapples and many other tropical flora in their native environment. We were humbled to be able to enter Viseisei village, steeped in tradition, which to me was a real highlight. The Nadi Hindu temple was also really worth a visit and our guide there was very willing to share some of the history behind the temple and hindi religion, explaining the stories behind the origins of the deitys and gods represented there.
The tour was great value and we loved the experience. Thank you Solomon for sharing your knowledge of Fiji and your love of all things Fijian

We booked this tour with another couple, and to our surprise 2 Prado's arrived, we were told for our comfort and experience why not, ( A fantastic start).Tour started and we set off to the valley of a thousand hills, along the way passing small villages & towns. A comfort stop at the airport and refreshment break then headed out towards the hill,
Our Tour guides Mr Soco & Kelly and the other couples Guide Solomon along the way were letting us know about the sites we were seeing and there history.
And of coarse very funny guys we had a good laugh along the way these guys were amassing.
Once we were as far as our tour took us 2000ft above sea level and we got out to view the sites we were again greeted with refreshment local fresh fruits,
And just took in the amazing sites in all directions Valleys, Mountains & Ocean Views. Was truly an amazing tour with modern vehicles. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to see the other side the Fiji has to offer.
Great Tour Guys.

Thank you for your great feedback. Indeed this tour is spectacular. One of our historical tours
This 4WD tour heads to Koromakawa, east from Nadi where the first Fijians Landed, with sights of pieces
of pottery and shells left behind by the ancestors. From here you will continue your journey up into the
highlands getting the amazing view back over the rural landscape and to the many tropical islands
stretching out from Nadi Bay. This tour offers a mixture of culture, exploration and activity.
We are glad you enjoyed this tour and your recommendations.

My husband and I had a most enjoyable morning visiting the Valley of a Thousand hills in Fiji on our visit there 2 weeks ago. We also were lucky to be our guide Soloman's only passengers and fired masses of questions at hie which he answered cheerfully and thoroughly, and he was also a considerate and careful driver. It was so good to get out and see a lot more than just a lovely resort and beach and find out much more about the history of Fiji and the customs and present day development.
The highlight was the trip up to the 2000 foot high peak on the narrow winding road, with a magnificent view looking back down to the coast. Quite stunning.! An added bonus was the best delicious , sweet and fresh watermelon and pineapple that Soloman gave us.
Do make and effort and do this trip, you will not regret it, there is so much more to see in Fiji besides the beaches!

Thank you for your great feedback. This tour operates everyday from Monday to Friday and we always have customers booking for this historical tour. This tour consist of ancestral belongings, highlands getting the amazing view back over the rural landscape – the peak of the Nausori highlands, two thousands feet above sea level!.. from where you can get the view of the beauty of Viti Levu with uninterrupted views of the Mamanuca Island groups on the seaward side, and ‘the valley of a thousand hills’ inland.
It is one of our best and famous tours. We are glad you enjoyed this tour and your description is so perfect. Thank you for taking this tour with us.

We booked this tour for our first day in Fiji to get a sense of the area. Guide was very informative and the vehicle was clean and well maintained. Pickup from our hotel was on time and efficient. We visited the gardens which were lovely and very peaceful with a refreshing fruit drink before we set off again to a nearby village for a really informative discussion on the culture and history of the village. Then it was off to the local Hindu temple - being renovated for a big event coming up but still quite lovely and finished with a wander around a local market chatting to the locals and admiring their spectacular floral displays. It was very interesting to find out how locals manage their lives outside of the resorts.

We had spent time in two other islands in Fiji, and needed something to do on our last day. We had a very nice tour with Kali as our guide and Ishmali (sp?) as our driver. Kali had really great information and did a nice job with our tour. I probably would have skipped the mud pools, but that isn't their fault. They were great and catered to what we were looking for since we booked a private tour. Would definitely recommend. Working with them prior to the trip was easy as well.

We booked the Jungle & Waterfall Trek through a third-party website, and the instructions we got indicated we were doing the tour with Great Sights Fiji. The representative met us at the port right off the ship and had all our information in order. The vehicle we traveled in was clean and well air-conditioned. Suka, our guide, was very friendly and informative and went out of his way to make the day special for us. On the way to Colo-i-Suva Forest Park, we stopped a few times for photo opportunities. The trek itself was wonderful! It was exactly the kind of experience I was looking for. It was a beautiful hike in the jungle with a dip in the final pool at the end. The water was cold, but after the hike, it felt very refreshing, and I am so glad I went in. There's even a rope swing into that pool if you are feeling brave. The trek isn't completely easy, but it isn't too difficult or strenuous either. On the way down, you'll have to navigate over some slippery rocks and uneven surfaces at times; much of the trail has railings to help you. On the way up, the steps are easier to navigate, but it is a somewhat steep climb. If you are in average physical condition, you should be fine. Overall, I am so happy I booked this tour! Thank you, Suka and Great Sights!

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. Suka is one of our best guides and no doubt he keeps our clients entertained and makes them feel comfortable. When most people think of Fiji, they think of crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. In comparison to the heavily advertised tourist activities closer to the shore, Colo-I-Suva Forest Park is hardly promoted at all. Its location away from the population center means that people’s impact on the area is not as visible as it is in the city parks. The park itself is home to all but two of the bird species endemic to Fiji and helpful and knowledgeable park rangers are almost always available. Thank you for choosing this tour with us and we are glad to know that this tour was up to your expectation.

We did a private tour called Discover Coral Coast with shopping. The vehicle was in great shape, clean, and we were picked up on time. Solomon our driver was fantastic, he was very passionate about the culture and history of Fiji. We spent some time touring the back roads through villages, and old WWII sites. We stopped in Sigatoka for lunch and little shopping. Tour was about 6 hours and we truly enjoyed our time.

Just got back from the most incredible personal experience. I never knew Fiji had such a rich history but our driver and guide, Solomon, opened our eyes to the most amazing facts, stories, myths and legends. Solomon was a credit to his company, his family and the people of Fiji as a whole. We were lucky enough to just have the two of us along for the tour which enabled us to have an extremely personal experience that helped link us to the people of this great island. Witnessing the place where the first Fijians landed, the rock fortress they lived and hid in, and the breathtaking panoramas of Nadi was an experience we will never forget.
I would recommend this tour to everyone, and it should be a necessity for any stay in Fiji as it helps better understand and appreciate the country for what it is.
