A cool place to check out while in Annapolis. There is always something going on here. There are street performers, live music, people watching to take in. This is a very historic part of Annapolis. It is a very beautiful place to spend some time.

Great place to boat to and hang out on the water. It's in the center of all the action. The new Chop Tank was excellent and had really good food and service. don't forget to walk main street for all the shops or grab some pain killers at Pusser's. Can't wait to go back next year.

Nice place to sit and watch the boats. Numerous shops and restaurants are in walking distance. Lots of spots to find a space to sit.

Small area but how interesting. Ego Alley is a narrow waterway in Annapolis in City Dock area where you can see interesting yachts and views of the Harbor. Very relaxing place about 500 feet in length. Should be one of main destinations while in Annapolis.

Food was amazing! Crab cake sandwich delicious and the Caesar salad dressing was light and flavorful. And don’t forget the baked cookie and ice cream dessert!

You can't miss it if you're spending time downtown. It's amazing to see the huge yachts, big boats and dream about what it must be like to have that experience. It's a sight while you enjoy a beverage or just a respite from walking.

Given that this seems to be a rich person's city, I was wondering if we would be comfortable here, but as it turned out, Annapolis was a pleasant surprise. I loved this place. It was a Sunday, and people were dressed up. People watching was excellent. And being the headquarters of the Naval Academy, one would expect boats and ships. I can't swim, so I avoided getting too close to the water, but still got some great boat photos.
But as for the name Ego Alley, at first, before we actually saw the place, I thought it was a reference to all the expensive boats. But instead, it seemed to be because people packed the far end of the parking lot on the dock with expensive, collector cars.
Don't miss Annapolis' Main Street either. Parking might be an issue along the curb, but there is a parking lot to the left (it's a one way,) easily seen from the road. There are plenty of interesting shops to peruse and spend your money in.
The most surprising thing, though, which was refreshing in a mostly white part of town, was a life-sized statue of Alex Haley reading to some life-sized children statues, right at the end of the dock.
There were sail ship rides available at a reasonable price too. If I hadn't almost drowned twice, that would have been tempting to try.

We visited Annapolis for the weekend. The dock was a central area of activity. The boats and people are great for watching. We were there during a fair which added to the activity. Make sure you take time to just boat watch. Plenty of shops all around. Parking is timed ticket when events are not there.

We took a trolley tour that was fun. There are boat tours but we didn't have the time. There are lots of free things to see at the Naval Academy.
If I had the time there were museums that I wanted to see. Wear your walking shoes. There is a lot to see in walking distance.

As others note, Jan in MD is cold. IF you are lucky, the harbor will be frozen with ice skaters present. Maybe it doesn't get as old as when we were kids, but it makes for a nice winter scene. You are only steps away from an Irish or Spanish coffee to warm you up!

If he likes boats he will like this area in summer. I'd suggest a ride around the harbor however. Might be more fun for a 7 year old. Would definitely take the Naval Academy tour. Lot more to see for a younger child.
