Et fint lille museum med både en permanent udstilling og en skiftende udstilling med grønlandske kunstnere. I den permanente udstilling i kælderen ses et udskåret kranium fra en hvalros - ekseptionelt håndværk.
Et besøg værd - er du ikke den store museumsfan, så kan det klares på ca. 30 minutter.

(a) Museum: Combination of more traditional rooms of older art and new artist gallery with pieces that can also be purchased. By combining the two, you can really appreciate the different views of GL from the foreigners visiting to the people living there, and at different periods. [The last 100 years has brought enormous changes in society both there and in the world.] And like the Art Museum in Ilulissat, the exhibits try to provoke some thinking. For example: notice how the people are merely props in many of the popular paintings of GL in the early 20th Century - not even a clear face. And one well-known painting was done by an artist who never visited GL, who got all the details wrong. What does that mean for our perception of GL? (b) Nuuk also has a significant number of outdoor art installations and Art Walk. A brochure is available that identifies them. We didn't do the Art Walk, but we enjoyed spotting art and having a reference to tell us something about the artist and the piece.

Kunstmuseet, der rummer kunst af danske og grønlandske kunstnere er yderst seværdig indrettet i den tidligere Adventistkirke. Mange flotte malerier af det grønlandske landskab og moderne nyere grønlandsk kunst.

I was stuck in Nuuk in a snowstorm and I was glad to be able to spend my afternoon in this lovely art museum, sheltered from the howling wind and snow. The museum is admission-free, and the staff was very kind to offer me a museum map and give me a brief introduction of the museum and several major art works. The collection is a mixture of styles, including traditional Greenlandic art & crafts, European-inspired paintings, modern art installations, and posters/prints. It is an interesting place to look at Greenlandic culture.

Super interesting, you can see and learn a lot about Greenland’s history and they’re culture. Also it’s free admissions and the guys at reception gave us a mini intro on the museum. Go’

This is a lovely, little art museum. Most of the art wa donated by a couple who lived in Greenland. There are some modern pieces as well. It is a quick visit and well-worth a short stop.

hola!!! soy de Argentina y buscaba información de su museo para un trabajo de la facultad. Fue dificil reunir la informacion. Espero que este importante espacio se conozca cada vez mas y en algun momento conocerlo.
