…praticamente”Catherine’s Gate” era una delle porte delle fortificazioni della fortezza di Brasov!!…è un monumento storico che faceva parte del sistema difensivo della città!!…il nome fu preso da quello del vicino monastero di monache!!…Caterina!!…è l’ultima struttura medievale rimasta di Brasov!!…costruita con i caratteristici colori sassoni!!…quello che si nota subito sono le quattro torrette che si alzano sopra la torre del cancello principale!!…che nel Medioevo significavo il diritto dei governanti di applicare la pena capitale!!…ha mantenuto nel tempo il suo aspetto originale!!…attualmente all’interno si organizzano mostre d’arte e storia!!…da vedere sicuramente!!…

Είναι δίπλα στην Schei Gate...Στην ουσία αποτελει άλλη μία πύλη της πόλης...Η συγκεκριμένη βρίσκεται εντός του χώρου του πανεπιστημίου...Δηλαδή αν ο χάρτης σας δείχνει οτι κινείστε παράλληλα τότε μπείτε μέσα στον κήπο του πανεπιστημίου και θα την δείτε μπροστά σας...Είναι πιο εντυπωσιακή από την Schei Gate απλά η συγκεκριμένη δεν μπορείς να την διασχίσεις...Προφανώς και το όνομα της κρύβει μία ιστορία...καλό θα ήταν να την διαβάσετε...

Our overall half day visit to the sights of Brasov was interesting from both a historic viewpoint (our privately-hired guide was a history teacher) and a cultural viewpoint as we saw the reality contrasted with the myths of Brasov

Sadly, graffiti does tarnish the walls from time to time. Do your best to overlook a bit of graffiti and relish this magical spot, with a couple of benches on which you can sit quietly and enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful city, far from the crowds in the center

Eski şehir'de bulunan sonradan yenilendiği anlaşılan tarihi kapı. Tarihi kenti dolaşırken zaten karşınıza çıkacak. Biz de gelmişken önünden geçtik resim çektik. Ancak etkilendim diyemem.

This beautiful gate to the city centre is worth a short look. It is quite impressive and not too far from the main street into the city centre.

uts close to the city center and also a tourist office you can find this square gate with one big central and 4 small corner turrets. In the Medieval Age it was the main access into the city from the Schei quarter. Around small park to relax.

For centuries Katherine's gate was the only connection towards the Schei neighborhood of Brasov until 1827 when the Schei gate was built in its vicinity to handle the traffic in and out of the city - because Katherine's gate became too small for the task.
Nowadays is a historical monument, the gates exterior tower is what can be seen and remained from the complex system that the gate once was - the murder holes and firing can be still seen today. And it is one of the most well preserved pieces of fortifications in Brasov.
So when you stroll through Brasov and you are in the area of the Schei gate , you can stop by Katherine's gate to take a few pictures - also in the vicinity is a small park and there you can find some very nice wooden sculptures.

I think you should change the name to Poarta Ecaterinei, instead of Yekaterina. The Romanian name for it is Ecaterina.

Interesting. The name that was on the sign next to the gate, at Brasov, was "Porta Sanctae Katharinae."
