thanks for your review. You are right. From 30 September - 03 November 2019 the SchafbergBahn only travels as far as the Schafbergalm Station (due to construction work).
As this station normally works as middle station, the space available is not as big as on the mountain station. However, our team on sites does its best to make the stay around Schafbergalm as convenient as possible. We are sorry to hear that you could not enjoy the waiting time.

we are very sorry to heart that you did not enjoy your visit.
On some days, the fog hides the wonderful views. On our webcam (online and on-site) you can actually watch the current weather condition in advance.
However, on the way up and down, there are actually a lot of fascinating views over Lake Wolfgangsee.
Each ride (up or down) lasts 35 minutes.

Dies ist jedoch nur möglich, wenn Hunde einen Beißkorb tragen und an der Leine geführt werden bzw. in einem geeigneten und artgerechten Behältnis transportiert werden. Zudem benötigen Hunde ein gültiges Ticket. Dies gilt für jede Art und Größe der Hunde (ausgenommen Hunde in einem geeigneten und artgerechten Behältnis). Wenn Sie Ihren Malteser somit in einer Hundetasche oder -box mitnehmen, ist kein Maulkorb und kein Ticket erforderlich.
Ab 30. April sind wir wieder täglich für Sie in Betrieb!
Hallo, wie lange dauert es wenn man hinauf wandert bzw wie lange ca. hinunter? Ist es empfehlenswert?
Hallo! Es gibt verschiedene Wege auf den Gipfel. In der Regel dauert die Wanderung rund 3,5 Stunden. Für den Abstieg würden wir zwischen 2,5 und 3 Stunden einplanen - oder aber man nimmt für den Weg nach unten die SchafbergBahn. :-) Die Talfahrt dauert 35 Minuten. Maybe on a mountain bike, with world class legs......its a climb! So maybe if you are a strong cyclist with a mountain bike you could find the trails. I am not sure if there are any restrictions to riding a bicycle on the hiking trails to the top of the mountain.

Hello! Can I book tickets for both the ferry and train in advance? I am a planner and like to know I have tickets in hand before I show up somewhere. When I purchase ferry tickets am I picking a specific journey time or can I take any ferry that goes to my predetermined destination?

We too bought the combi tickets for the ferry and train from St. Gilgen port before boarding the ferry.
If you buy the full day ticket for ferry then you are free to get on and off the ferry wherever and whenever you wish. Just keep a copy of the schedule of arrival and departure at different ports/stops.

We didn’t stay in the hotel. It looked o.k. We didn’t . I wouldn’t stay in the hotel more then two days, if I were you. The way up and down again each evening is either with the train or a steep climb and descent. The panoramic view at the top is superb, especially at sunrise and sunset, I imagine.

if the pushchair is foldable and if there is enough free space in the cog train, you can bring it with you.
However, especially in high season (July & August), mostly all seats are occupied so that there will be no space for the pushchair. In this case, our staff on site will assist you regarding the storage of the pushchair in the valley station.
