Winter Park is an absolute blast, we came up from San Antonio, Texas and Winter Park was part of our itinerary in 2019 and we did it again Jan. 2022 and we will do it again maybe as soon as next year!
We rented the igloo each time and I highly recommend this, it’s a great place to warm up, sit and relax and have privacy.
It entitles you to a VIP parking, the zip line and all day from opening to closing on the slopes.
This place is fun for all ages, my wife and I have a blast as well as our kids and grandkids! The staff is friendly and helpful. The expanded igloo area is great, there are many more igloos now available and the open fire pits and picnic tables are all very nice! Paula was a wonderful hostess during our visit!
The slopes are awesome, they have slopes for small children and thrilling fast slopes and everything in between! There’s always plenty of snow and the surrounding hills and Pines are beautiful! Employees all seem to be friendly and helpful and have a smile, and that says a lot about ownership and management. Thanks for a great time! We will see you again soon!

Amazing experience there. Fun for all ages. Well keep, clean, nice firepit on all time. Fast moving no need to wait for long periods of time. Very friendly staff. Definitely a place to visit if you are at New Mexico.

The tubing was a lot of fun but I’m not sure it was worth the price or time. I think we just went at a really busy time, the day after Christmas. If the admission had been limited then we probably could have gotten more runs down the hill but it was a 30-40 minute wait in line. So in the two hour time slot we bought, we got to tube down the hill twice - we had to sit out for a bit since my kids’ feet got cold so we might have been able to go one more time if they hadn’t gotten cold. Pack your patience and enjoy the outdoors and the company. The “lift” to get you to the top of the hill was quite helpful - I liked that we didn’t have to trudge up the hill. The wild horses were pretty awesome though!!!

We did the 3-5pm hour visit and I do not recommend it at all! We were in line so long only were able to go down once the entire time! And before we went up I had asked the guy at the lift if they were still allowing a train (party of 4) to be connected and slide down! He told me yes then we got up to be able to slide down and we’re told we could not do it! It was awful because my son is afraid of heights so then we had to walk all the way back down and weren’t able to slide anymore!

This was such a fun activity for all ages! We really enjoyed our time here and would visit again. Some of the times we did get some long lines but they moved fairly quickly. I would highly recommend snow boots, because some of the people in our party didn’t have any and it was very slippery for them!

We did VIP igloo. $600. Lines very long all day, kids would wait 30 mins or more in line for 10 second ride. I wish they had at least a port-a-potty in VIP area; it’s a hike to bathrooms. Our igloo attendant was great! Didn’t feel it was worth the money though due to long lines and far from bathrooms. Kids got 3 rides from 10am to 3pm

We went to Ruidoso for sledding. This place is great for that, at least, when you are actually going down the hill. Otherwise, there is at least 30 minute wait in the line. There is a little hill for the tiny sledders, and the toddler hill had no waits. The ticket is good for 3 hours, but our 5 year old waited only twice the first day and 3 times the second day. She loved it, but not enough to keep waiting. On the third day we drove to Ski Cloudcroft, and had a blast sledding there. No lines, cheaper, better hills and overall much better experience.

TL;DR They make snow, so when there's no snow, its the only place to tube. That's the only reason to buy tickets. Management doesn't care about your wait times or your experience. Ride a tube down any other hill when there's snow.

They make snow! They always have snow during the winter. If it gets below freezing at night, they'll have snow.
They have lifts! No walking up! They have moving walkways sorta like at an airport. Easy, quick, convenient.
Tubes are included. You don't have to bring your own.

1. They close the high hills early, at 430. That is, they stop accepting people in line at that time. Which is a sensible policy. HOWEVER, there is no mention of this policy anywhere I could see. When I went to get in line, they said it closed because of the wind. I was really pissed at that. But then I talked to another one asking if they'd open because the wind had died down. He said the reason was as I stated. Perhaps it is a new policy. Like brand new. Some heads up would have been appreciated, as I had timed kid watching and balancing my wife's experience, and wasn't able to do what I had been building up to do.

2. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG lines. Yes that 'long' is ridiculous. It's on par with the ridiculousness of the lines.

3. Management. This is related to the long lines. There is just no concern on the part of management/employees for the wait time of patrons, nor concern for their experience. Employees started stacking and putting away tubes for the night while there was like 45-30 mins left in the day. Their process involves employees dragging a dozen tubes behind them from the bottom of the hill to the storage area. Which happens to be against the fence lining the corridor from the main entrance and social area to the bottom of the hill, which is also the main area for the line for the main lift. A dozen tubes basically takes up the entire width of the corridor, bumping into customers standing on snow and ice, and generally disrupting traffic. It's ridiculous.
They have people who monitor the release of tubers coming down the various chutes. One employee at each chute, pretty much exactly like people at the top of slides at water parks. These employees basically have no concern for wait time.
The top of the chutes are pretty hairy. Man-made snow is icy, and the waiting and staging areas were pretty slick. I'm actually genuinely surprised that no one slipped, fell and took out a dozen people in the process. Besides that, the area where you are supposed to get on your tube is sloped and slick, making it difficult to do so, unless you're spry and bold. This makes the process slow, contributing to wait times. They need to groom the staging areas so that they are flat, and have a definite break to the start of the chute, much like water slides. That would speed the process, and make it less harrowing.

We had the twilight tubing tickets. We got there a little late, so we didn't get tubes until about 330. We didn't take our first ride down until after 4. I got to ride twice. My wife rode once (that's because of children.) The rest of my family rode about 4 times. The lines cleared out about 415. I can't imagine the wait times during peak times. Very disappointed with the operation. The only reason to buy tickets is if there is no snow. If there's snow, get a sled or a tube, and ride somewhere, anywhere, else.

The staff was nice and runs were fun, but we only averaged one run every 30 minutes due to long lines and poor organization of the lines. There were many times that no one was going down certain routes, only because no one knew to bypass the long line to get onto the empty run. A few more signs or extra people organizing the crowds would be helpful. There are cloth-covered tubes and vinyl-covered ones, and certain runs allow only one type or the other --- but none of that is explained well. We arrived right at 9am but lines got long really quickly. Our group ranged in age from 15-55. Our teens did about 5 runs in 3 hours, even with waiting almost constantly in line. It would probably be more fun for younger kids, maybe 12 and under.
