very good fort and you can visit anytime. Even kids can easily climb in 10min. You get fresh air and can have picnic also. Must visit

It's called as Malhargad or Sonori Killa (fort) One of the best thing to do anytime around the year. The best season is monsoon but avoid live rain as there are chances of slippage. It requires a ticket of INR 40 for a 4 wheeler. For trekking, it takes about 20-30 min time only. The first half is of rocks, stones but easily covered by children also. The second half is steps made of sand, very slippery. Elders should avoid the first half and can go till steps by car. No proper parking arrangements. No toilet or washrooms nearby.
Location: After crossing Dive ghat from Pune, it's only about 15/20 min drive. Google's location is accurate.
Food: there is only a small fruit vendor near car parking and tea and vada pav stall at the top.
Things to see: 2 temples, 3 wells (one is stepwell), ruins are picturesque. 2 hours are.more than sufficient to walk the entire fort.

1. It is the last fort of the Maratha empire. There is not much of a crowd and trek is very easy.
2. You can go anytime. View from the top is also nice.

It was the last of the forts of Maratha empire, this fort rarely have many visitors so there wont be much crowd here. The views from the top are nice.

The best spot for a trek if you have half a day and located in pune city. The fort is located at a distance of an hour and half from pune at a bypass on the pune sasvad road after the diva ghat ends and the larger than life statue of lord Vitthal is seen.
The fort is ill maintained although they collect a fee of Rs 40/- for car and Rs 25/- for two wheeler. The fruit orchards on route to the fort uplifts your mood as you reach the foot of the fort. You can take your car all the way to the fort gate ( consider it if you have high clearance vehicle) although I preferred to park the car and trek for 20 min to reach the fort.
You can cover the fort in 45 mins and since there is hardly any crowd on this trek, you have all the fort to yourself . We witnessed a pre wedding shoot on the fort . It looks like a favourite place for shoots . The showstopper is the huge 50 foot saffron bhagwa which flutters high filling your heart with pride and makes the trip worthwhile .

This Place Surprise you.... we went here in Monsoon on a rainy day and t turns out to be a fantastic place , Few of key structures are still intact and are in good shape.
Panoramic view is awesome from all edges of fort .
Big Saffron flag is there on the top and it gives a good photo opp and different feel altogether
Climb is easy (45 Min) and cars can cover a good part of hike for you. 2-3 hours of time is good enough for covering the fort.

लॉकडाऊन मध्ये कंटाळून गेला आहात? घरी लहान बाळ किंवा मोठी माणसे आहेत त्यामुळे शक्यतो बाहेर जाणे टाळले जात आहे? काही ना काही कारणास्तव लांबचे प्लॅन्स होत नाहीयेत!?
मग तुम्ही सुद्धा "मल्हारगड" ला एक हाफ-डे ट्रिप काढाच...
पुण्यापासून(कोथरूड) 50 किलोमीटर वर सासवड जवळ असलेला मराठा साम्राज्यात बांधला गेलेला सर्वात शेवटचा किल्ला ! 35 वर्ष पुण्यात राहूनही मागच्या आठवड्यात पहिल्यांदा जाण्याचा योग आला..... एकदम छोटा किल्ला, शनिवार वाड्यात फिरताना येतो तसाच काहीसा feel, पण निसर्गाने ह्या वास्तूत एवढा वारा भरून ठेवला आहे की डोक्यावर तळपता सूर्य आम्हाला जाणावलादेखील नाही।
मल्हारगड त्यामानाने दुर्लक्षित किंवा unseen म्हणूया, 1.5 छोट्या टेकड्या मिळून होईल एवढाच ट्रेक, तो देखील तुम्ही थोडी ground clearance जास्त असलेली गाडी असेल किंवा driving expertize असेल तर टाळता येऊ शकतो आणि गाडी थेट किल्याच्या पायथ्याशी जाते👍
तेथून 2 रस्ते आहेत एक थोडीशी पायवाट आणि एक सुमारे 50 पायऱ्या असलेला मुख्य किल्याचा मार्ग, वयस्कर लोकांना बसत बसत पायऱ्या चढता येतील ह्या बेताच्या आहेत जास्त अवघड नाही।
वर किल्याचे कोठेही बाजारीकरण झालेले दिसले नाही, सिंहगड चा अनुभव घेऊन वर गेला तर हाल होतील (पुणेरी मराठीत सांगायचं झालं तर उपाशी मराल 😊)त्यामुळे खाण्यापिण्याचे सामान आपले आपण घेऊन जावे, पाणी भरपूर घेऊन जावे(प्रत्येकी 2 bottles), वर असलेला गार वारा, ऊन आणि त्यामुळे गरम दमट झालेली हवा त्यामुळे थोडे थोडे पाणी पीत राहिलात तर फ्रेश वाटेल।
किल्यात वर जाताच दरवाज्याची केलेली विशेष बांधणी लक्षात येते, एक छोटा झेंडा सुरुवातीलाच आपले लक्ष वेधून घेतो, थोडे पुढे महादेवाचे एक मंदिर आहे,त्याबाहेर किल्याची सविस्तर माहिती देणारा फलक आहे.
निदान आम्ही गेलो तेंव्हा तरी आम्हाला प्लास्टिक चा कचरा,बाटल्या वगैरे दिसले नाहीत, ज्या एखाद दुसऱ्या दिसल्या त्या आम्ही आमच्या सोबत आणलेल्या कचऱ्याच्या बॅग्स मध्ये भरून घेतल्या कारण किल्ले असो वा अजून काही, कचरा करणे हे अयोग्यच, आपल्या घरी टाकतो का असे नाही ना मग इथेही टाकू नका, एका पिशवीत टाका आणि ती कचऱ्याच्या टोपलीत टाका.
महादरवाजा नव्याने सजवलेला आहे, त्याकडे जाण्याआधी जो दरवाजा लागतो तो अति विशाल आहे, इथे लोकं भान हरपून फोटो काढतात, आम्हीही 😊
आतल्या बाजूला 2 रस्ते आहेत एक महादरवाज्याच्या बुरुजाकडे जातो तर दुसरा कड्याच्या तटबंदीकडाच्या बुरुजाकडे जातो, इथे अत्यंत मोठा असा भगवा झेंडा आहे । पानिपत, राऊ, श्रीमान योगी, अशी पुस्तके वाचत तुम्ही मोठे झाला असाल तर तुम्हाला त्याचे महत्व आपोआप समजेल आणि आपसूकच जयघोष होईल "जय भवानी...जय शिवाजी..हर हर महादेव" !!
फोटो freak लोकांना खूप संधी आहे, महिन्याभर पुरतील एवढे फोटो काढता येतील, प्रत्येक spot प्रत्येक बुरुज दुसर्या बाजूने खूप वेगळा वाटतो, किल्यात असलेल्या विहिरी, तलाव, चोरवाटा, तटबंदी सगळेच आखीव रेखीव आहे 👍
सकाळी 6.30am ला पुण्याहून निघालात तरी साधारण 1.30pm पर्यंत सर्व फिरून परत येऊ शकाल...
काही टिप्स:-
हडपसर सासवड मार्गे दिवेघाट ओलांडून गेलात की मस्तानी तलावाचे विहंगम दृश्य दिसेल, तिथे एक 10-15 फोटो झाले की वर पालखीमार्गात कटेवरी हात विटेवरी उभा विठ्ठल दिसला की आपोआप तोंडातून पांडुरंग पांडुरंग बाहेर पडणारच....डावीकडे HP पेट्रोलपंप (washroom सोय बघून सांगितलेला लँडमार्क) सोडून 200mtr पुढे गेलात की लगेचच डाव्या बाजूला ऋषिकेश मिसळ शेजारीच काळेवाडी गावात जाणारी कमान लागते, त्या रस्त्याने नाकासमोर सरळ गेलात की मल्हारगड ला पोहोचताच.. गावातून जाणारा रस्ता वळू सिनेमाची आठवण करून देतो, गावातले रस्ते,चावडी, शाळा,मंदिर वगैरे एकदम डुरक्या येईल की काय असे वाटते 😊 गावातल्या भिंती खूपच कल्पकतेने रंगवलेल्या आहेत, आम्ही अनेक beautification project केले पण इथला प्रोफेशनल टच पाहुन आमचे फोटोसेशन तिथूनच सुरू झाले...तुमचेही असेच होईल...
असो,
शक्य तेवढा (non traditional) आणि user friendly review देण्याचा प्रयत्न केला 🤸🚵🎧🚩 हा अनुभव प्रत्येकाने स्वतःचा स्वतः घ्यावा 👍नक्की फ्रेश मनाने घरी परत जाल😊

A very good place near Pune .. a nice and easy trek.. historical essence, fresh air , clean , calm ..
if visiting with family,kids and wish to avoid steep trek then can drive up to hill top.
Village at the foothill has varieties of fruits - Anjeer, Guava, Pomegranates, custard apple .. worth spending some time.

Wonderful place. Fort is around 22 KM from Hadpsar Pune. Less crowded and lesss commercialized then any other place fort. Me and wifey started from Magarpatta city and drove to this place in 45 minutes. Entry fee of Rs. 20 each is charged. No dedicated parking space is available. You can park vehicle along side road or if you have good 4 wheeler with enough ground clearance then can take it to base of fort. Either you can trek it up from hill side ( Difficulty level - Easy) or prefer to walk on road . Fort was built in 17th century considered to be last fort built by Maratha. This fort is also called Sonari fort.There are two temples inside fort, well and man made water body. Nice cool air were flowing inside fort and this saved us from fatigue. We spent almost 1.5 hr to explore entire fort.There were no food option is availale inside or near fort. Better to carry water bottle, snacks etc.

If you want fresh air, some physical activity or/and want to know some history, visit this and have fun. Big advantage is its location, not too far to drive, not too crowded and not too difficult to climb.
Even elders can accompany as cars can go to very near to the top. Of course, if you want to have physical activity, then one can climb from the base.
Carry food and water, although there are 2-3 vendors but on a weekday, someone may not be there, and hence carrying may help.
Kids will have fun and if you want to make it little more intense physical activity, you can get down and climb again on the back side (other side than where the car park is) of the fort.
