I would recommend Team Kilimanjaro (TK) to anyone with plans to climb the mountain. My friend and I felt very supported through the different phases of the trip. Even though we experienced an unforeseen flight delay, TK was prompt and flexible in arranging an alternate route and private climb, which eventually contributed to such a wonderful experience!
Our guides, Johnson and Abdala ("Dula"), were also excellent. They were highly considerate and committed to making the climb a positive and safe experience for us. Dula had a lively energy and never failed to put a smile on our faces. He was sensitive to our needs and made us feel cared for, especially during the difficult moments of our climb.
Similarly, Johnson was warm, respectful and professional. There was no moment when his concern and sincerity was not felt. We felt ready and comfortable to share with him any concerns, knowing that he address promptly or fulfill them well. Johnson's guiding experience and medical knowledge also assured us during critical moments when we might be have had altitude sickness symptoms. Thus, we really appreciated having Johnson and Dula as guides, and we are sure that other climbers would feel the same. Leaving them a good review is the least we can do, after benefiting from being supported so well by them during our hike.

We wish to give a huge thank you to our trek guides John Leonard Minja and Leonard Solomon for guiding us, and the wider TK team, on a fantastic Rongai Route trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro last week. What made this trek so special, in addition to achieving our dream as 3 friends to summit, was the wonderful team of guides, porters, & cooks who accompanied us up the mountain. Every single TK team member was friendly, caring, attentive and seemed to know what we needed before we did ourselves. John and Leo have such a huge wealth of experience of guiding visitors at such high altitude - we knew we could put our trust in them - from how many layers to wear each day, to how much rest we needed and what pace to trek at. At the start of each day of our adventure we were given a delicious breakfast, briefed on the day then set off on a hike full of chat and interesting facts about our environment. The crew would come to meet us at the end of each day's trek with big smiles and accompany us into camp - tents and dinner all ready for us . The tents and beds were very comfortable, the toilet tent was a luxurious bonus, and we didn't want for anything. On our summit night, in the dark, our guides sang and whistled us up the slopes - their music carried us along, And then they produced mugs of ginger tea followed by snacks to keep us going to the summit. I cannot recommend John and his TK team highly enough. This crew of wonderful people made our holiday so special from start to end.

This was truly an incredible experience. Choosing this company for my climb was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Kyle whom I contacted at the start of the year, remained in touch and kept me updated throughout. Payments, details, itinerary was all orderly and well thought out. I specifically had a relatively different idea in mind for my climb and they were more than capable of providing exactly what was needed. Kyle was prompt, and very clear and thorough on items, and scheduling. As for my crew; the guide Johnson, two porters- Alex and JuJu, and driver- Frankie, I could not have anything but high praise. Johnson went above and beyond the calling as guide, and was concerned with safety first. I took a fall on a slippery rock and my wound was dealt with immediately with care, and consistently checked on. I was more than okay, but Johnson made great effort to check on me many times which I appreciated. Alex and JuJu did nothing short of incredible work trekking my extra gear up the same climb, on one heck of a pace. Eating, laughing, and making this climb with them, will be a lifelong memory. From start to finish, I enjoyed every single second. The crew I had in my opinion was the best there is. I highly recommend using this company, top to bottom, truly exceptional customer care, so much so that you feel like family, not a customer.

We have just returned from the Team Kilimanjaro 7 day Lemosho climb of Kilimanjaro and we simply could not fault them.
The information on their website and the communication with Kyle & John before our arrival in Arusha was superb.
Having arrived two days prior to our climb we took the opportunity to do a one day safari & acclimatisation trip. To our delight it was hosted by Hesbon, who was to be our chief guide on our main trek. The safari was excellent and it also gave us the opportunity to get to know Hesbon a little better and by the end of the day we felt confident that we had a great guide.
Starting our adventure on Monday 9th Oct we met our four fellow climbers and almost immediately bonded as a team. Hesbon and fellow guides Fredrick & Kizindaro, did not disappoint. They were courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and totally concerned for our wellbeing during the whole trip. The rest of the TK team were equally as enthusiastic and considerate to all our needs. From finding the best spots in the various camps for our tents, to providing hot water for washing, a wake-up cup of tea every morning and fabulous meals three times a day - we could not have been more impressed.
The days were long and tough but the encouragement from the guides and the rest of the team made it all doable. None of us could have made the summit without the positive reinforcement of Hesbon and his crew. Carrying our day packs for our summit climb and providing hot tea, Mars bars and energy drinks when we felt like we couldn’t go on, demonstrated to us that TK go above and beyond all our expectations. The care and attention they gave to some of our team who suffered from altitude sickness, showed us their knowledge and expertise of the potential difficulties in conquering this magnificent mountain.
We would not hesitate to recommend Team Kilimanjaro if you are planning a trip to conquer Mt Kilimanjaro.

My husband and I went on a private climb with team kilimanjaro this month and it was fantastic. They were able to arrange everything for us despite it being quite short notice and were very helpful in planning the trip that would suit our needs. We ended up doing the 7 day team kilimanjaro version of the Lemosho route, and they arranged for special permission for us to descend via the Marangu route as a gentler option on the knees given I have an old knee injury. This route was perfect for us, and the Marangu descent was great in terms of sparing my knee, I didn't have any problems at all.
My husband and I are both doctors and were quite concerned about possible altitude sickness going into the climb. The route was very good in terms of allowing acclimitisation by climbing high and sleeping low, with additional evening acclimitisation walks on several of the evenings. We both ended up getting mild-moderate symptoms of altitude sickness: headache, loss of apetite, nausea and vomiting on sumit day, and my husband at times had some shortness of breath. Our guides Athumani (chief gudie) and Calvin (assistant guide) were brilliant in monitoring us and taking our symptoms seriously, but also reassuring two anxious doctors that we were safe to continue. I felt that our safety was their top priority, and think this reflects the team kilimanjaro approach where they don't publish success rates so that safety can remain the top priotity.
The sumit bid was harder than I anticipated when dealing with the significant effects of altitude. My husband and I both made it to the top, but agree we couldn't have done it with any other team. Athumani, Calvin and Elipokea (our waiter for the trip but who is completing gudie training so accompanied us on a lot of our hikes) accompanied us on summit day and were an unbelievable support. When we started struggling with fatigue they carried our entire quite heavy day bags for us, when my head torch died halfway up the mountain from the cold affecting the batteries Elipokea immediately swapped his working one for my dead one. Every time we were reaching our limit they would have just the thing we needed up their sleeve to keep us going including hot ginger tea to help with the nausea half-way up. They sang and encouraged us up to the top and reminded us to stop and enjoy the moments along the way, the feeling of finally gettting to the top of that seemingly endless scree slope and seeing the sunrise from Gilman's point was unbelievable.
Athumani our chief guide was very experienced, a wealth of knowledge and ran a brilliant team expertly. He thought of everything and ensured a very smooth expedition, he even managed to arrange tranfser to the airport the following morning for us when we were on the bus back from a climb on a sunday afternoon. Calvin was incredible and managed to constantly remind us to "just enjoy walking" a mantra that helped get us to the top, and actually enjoy the journey. Elipokea was wonderful and looked after our every need at camp with such a gracious and friendly warmth, I have never been so well looked after even in five star hotels. He was a great support on summit day and all our acclimitisation hikes. He is extremely knowledgable and was able to answer all my questions about the route or plants that we saw. He brought an infectious energy and practical support helping with our bags, getting my mittens on in the freezing cold dark of summit day. We felt very lucky to have him on our team and know he will make a brilliant guide, whoever gets him as a guide will be very lucky. William was our brilliant chef who managed to make the most incredible meals, the presentation was extraordinary as was the variety and what he could achieve at a high altitude camp! All of the porters were wonderful, very friendly and if they ever saw us struggling with anything would appear in an instant to lend a helping hand.
My one hesitation before we booked with team kilimanjaro is that they are not memebers of KPAP the porter association that mandates certain standards of equipment and pay. The Team Kilimanjaro website has their rationale for this, which is that fair and safe treatment of their porters is a priority but that KPAP has some problems and doesn't actually necessarily gurantee good treatment of staff, and is a bit paternalistic in equipment choices when experienced guides may safely have other preferences etc. During my trip speaking with the guides and porters they were universally positive about their experience with team kilimanjaro, very loyal to the company, and seemed well equipped and not overly loaded compared to some other expeditions. We ran into another expedition that one of the staff had been asked to work for in a theoretically more senior position for that trip and they had turned it down preferring to work with team kilimanjaro who they described as their "mother company" that had always looked after them.
In summary I couldn't recommend team kilimanjaro highly enough. Talk to them about your needs and they can arrange a brilliant tailor made trip for you. This is the first time i have ever written a tripadvisor review, the company and crew were so brilliant that I felt i had to recognise the incredible service in giving us the trip of a lifetime.

Kaka mkubwa, ATHUMANI, and his team have given us the best experience. We were a bit apprehensive coming into this as we had never experienced anything like it but I feel very confident in saying that Athumani and his team know what they are doing.
Everything from the food and accommodation to the smiley and friendly faces we were surrounded by has made this trip, the best ever!
We all spent a night in the advantage plus accomodation which was Fantastic. We especially enjoyed the double thickness mattress and the shower.
The different landscapes we have walked through have been breathtaking and we woke up this morning to the most wonderful sunrise. The food has been INCREDIBLE⭐! I'm not sure how the chef managed to make a cake 4000m up a mountain, but he did it and it was delicious👌!!
We were lucky enough to not only have the best Chief guide but also 3 incredible assistant guides; Godbless, Joshua and Nixon. These three men helped all of us in every way possible. We wouldn’t have made it to the top or back down without them. I had a bit of a dodgy ankle but Godbless held my hand to give me support all the way down. They taught us the language and told us stories. We feel very lucky to have had them be apart of our team.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend Team Kili enough. Start to finish they were there.
If you’re planning to climb kili I would definitely choose Team kili and try be with the guides we had.

I chose TK following research and a review in the Guardian newspaper. Our experience has been excellent. From the start of the planning to the end of the trip they have looked after us and their attention to detail and response to feedback has been excellent.
Our week long Safari was well planned visiting some great lodges and tented camps. Our guide and driver was knowledgeable and hospitable more like travelling with a good friend. We saw a great range of animals including the migration at the end.
We were joined by our family for the Kili trek which made a party of 10. The care and attention we received to nuture us to the top was second to none. All of us had our challenges during the trek including on the summit day however we all made it to the top and back again safely. The food was excellent including variety and what we needed at each stage. Our guides were very knowledgeable and our lead guide Athumani was superb catering for our needs and taking feedback in a positive light. We certainly wouldn't have done it without him. Well done to TK a really great experience getting a range of ages from 18 to 60 to the top. We all feel like we have made some new friends. Thank you.

Athumani was very encouraging and has great supporting energy throughout the whole trip. When I was feeling ill he immediately gave support and came with megic idea which helped me to acclimatise and feel much better. Overall Athumani has been a vital part of our journey and we are very pleased to have him as our Chief Guide. I would highly recommend him and the entire team in future trips, Advantage plus is very comfy feel like home especially when received yesterday bathmats,bath towels,face towels hand towels exactly improved this new series well done. Also I was thankful for the chef his food was extremely amazing and surprised us each day.

The team from Team Kilimanjaro was awesome. Kyle expertly took us through the planning phase, gave us a lot of information and advice, and made all of the arrangements for accommodations in Arusha and transport to/from the airport. Their "how to prepare" and "what to pack" guides" were spot on.
To maximize the likelihood of success, and avoid crowds, we settled on the 6 day trek up the Rongai Route. Our guide Mr. Harold and Assistant Guide Mr. Dula, and their team of porters were a immense pleasure to work with. Harold and Dula explained everything to us as we went, and were incredibly supportive. Mr. Rama the head porter greeted us upon arrival at camp each day, and each morning, with a smile. The food prepared for us by the camp cook was excellent. And during the 6 days on the mountain, we got to know the team quite well. My son got mild altitude sickness, but Harold and Rama handled it with grace and ease. Overall, they were an immense pleasure to work with.
After Kilimanjaro, we also had them put together a 4-day safari for us. That was also incredibly well put together. The guide Mr. Joshua, somehow seemed to know how to put the Landcruiser just in the right spot to get us amazing views of the animal life. The accommodations they put together was terrific. They also set us up with a local guide, Mr. Hassan, who knew the local Bushman tribe. He took us out in the early hours of the day so that we could sit with them, experience a bit of their culture, and go out on a hunt with them. My only regret was that I didn't schedule more time for the safari so that we could have gone further north.
Overall, Team Kilimanjaro provided an excellent experience for my son and me, both on and off the mountain. Highly, highly recommended.

Harold and Dula explained everything to us as we went, and were incredibly supportive. Mr. Rama the head porter greeted us upon arrival at camp each day, and each morning, with a smile. The food prepared for us by the camp cook was excellent. And during the 6 days on the mountain, we got to know the team quite well. My son got mild altitude sickness, but Harold and Rama handled it with grace and ease. Overall, they were an immense pleasure to work with.
After Kilimanjaro, we also had them put together a 4-day safari for us. That was also incredibly well put together. The guide Mr. Joshua, somehow seemed to know how to put the Landcruiser just in the right spot to get us amazing views of the animal life. The accommodations they put together was terrific. They also set us up with a local guide, Mr. Hassan, who knew the local Bushman tribe. He took us out in the early hours of the day so that we could sit with them, experience a bit of their culture, and go out on a hunt with them. My only regret was that I didn't schedule more time for the safari so that we could have gone further north.
Overall, Team Kilimanjaro provided an excellent experience for my son and me, both on and off the mountain. Highly, highly recommended.

My friends and I had the most wonderful trekking experience with Team Kilimanjaro. The manager, Kyle, helped us with all bookings and addressed all of our issues in real time. The head guide, Michael Juma, has a track record of more than 100 successful summits. Under his leadership, the assistant guide Timoth and 15 porters were able to help us through an arduous but rewarding 7-day hike on the TK Lemosho route. The staff was courteous, respectful, experienced, and cheerful. The service was excellent, and the meals were delicious and well-prepared. Everyone treated us with such kindness, and we felt as if we were family. We are so grateful to TK and the team for helping us to complete this journey and mission.
