Going on safari with Zohar African Safaris provided the trip of a lifetime! Lilian adeptly guided us as together we planned a two-week trip, one week in Kenya, one week in Tanzania. The idea of traveling from California to East Africa for safari can be daunting. We relied upon Lilian’s extensive experience, and that of her capable team.
We began our adventure with very kind and capable guide James Kimani, and experienced majestic and awe-inspiring wildlife in Ol Pejeta, Lake Navaisha, and Massai Mara. Highlights included seeing many rhinos, and the elusive black rhino, a cheetah eating its prey in a tree, and a hippo mating.
Zohar ensured that we stayed in very comfortable hotels and since we were primarily on safari, we stayed in all-inclusive luxurious “tent” camps—we loved them! We were warmly greeted and pampered by the staff wherever we stayed; this too was an impactful highlight.
We flew to the Serengeti, met by David Raston, an engaging and highly professional safari expert who had been recommended by friends. We traveled from Northern to Central Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire. We’ll never forget the awesome Mara River crossings by wildebeests and zebras, while hungry crocodiles lurked in the water—wow! Again, Zohar ensured our stays were quite extraordinary, beautiful and comfortable.
Throughout our two-week adventure the Zohar team checked in with us via WhatsApp. We said our goodbyes in Arusha, flying to Rwanda for a separate missions trip, and felt the continued care and support of the team, even as we moved on to serving in Rwandan schools.
Thank you for everything Lilian, James, David, Jackie, and the Zohar team; God’s blessings upon each of you! We leave pieces of our hearts in East Africa, return with reflections upon the stunning wildlife and profound landscapes we experienced, and most importantly, the beautiful people we met and precious new friends we made 🥰🌍🇰🇪🇹🇿🇷🇼♥️💙💚💛.

在与Zohar的游猎之旅中，我们与所罗门度过了一段非常美妙的时光，所罗门是一位知识渊博、善良、可靠、体贴的导游和司机。第一次体验非洲之旅，首先，这里的景色令人惊叹，看到了许多不同的野生动物，包括豹子、狮子、长颈鹿、大象、鬣狗、斑马，以及著名的角马渡河，非常值得一去；一路上，轻松随意，时间充裕，热情高涨，景色和笑声与美景绝配，真是令人难忘！感谢我们的导游和司机Solomon。他非常勤奋负责，一路上像家人一样陪伴着我们，让我们的旅行非常完美！During our safari with Zohar , we really really amazing and excellent time with Solomon who is very knowledgeable, kind, reliable、considerate guide and driver. For the first time experiencing Africa safari, firstly, the scenery was stunning, seeing many different wild animals, including leopards, lions, giraffes, elephants, hyenas, zebras, and the famous wildebeest River Crossing , which is very worth visiting once in a lifetime; Along the way, relaxed and casual, with ample time and enthusiasm, the scenery and laughter were perfect matches for beautiful scenery, it’s really unforgettable! Thanks to our guide and driver Solomon. He is very diligent and responsible, accompanying us like family all the way, making our trip very perfect!

Our honeymoon was an unforgettable experience all thanks to Zohar and our exceptional guide, Daniel.
Daniel was absolutely amazing with his wealth of knowledge about the wildlife, the ecosystem, and the local culture added an incredible depth to our experience. His passion for the animals and the environment was infectious, and his keen eye made every game drive an exciting adventure. We were fortunate enough to witness the "Big Five" in all their majesty – lions, elephants, buffalos, a leopard sleeping in a tree, and even a single rhino in the distance – a testament to Daniel's expertise and dedication.
The Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater were like scenes from a nature documentary. The vastness of the Serengeti in addition to incredible wildlife sightings: zebras, gnus, giraffes, and cheetahs became part of our daily routine, each sighting more thrilling than the last.
One of the most memorable moments of our safari was spotting a lioness with her cubs stalking a gnu. Daniel's ability to position us for the best views without disturbing the animals was a testament to his skill and respect for nature.
Zohar's Safari took care of every detail, ensuring our comfort and well-being throughout the trip. From cozy accommodations that blended seamlessly with the environment to delicious meals that showcased local flavours! Zohar continuously surprised us with gifts from delicious desserts, champagne, and beautiful picture frame of us! Zohar went above and beyond to make our honeymoon special and we truly thank them for that!

My husband and I went on the honeymoon safari 6 day tour with Zohar safaris in July. Our trip included Arusha, Tarangire National park, Serengeti and Ngorongo Crater.
This was literally the best holiday either of us have ever done and I couldn’t recommend Zohar more. Our contact Jackline was quick to organise everything via email and answered any questions we had prior to the trip, which was so helpful in organising all the aspects of travel and Visas etc.
From the minute we arrived in Tanzania we were amazed at how well we were looked after, with pick ups from the airport all organised and special gifts throughout the trip.
The highlight of our trip was definitely our tour guide Solomon and our days spent in the Serengeti. The amount of driving he did every day, whilst managing to spot animals from 6km away was so impressive. I have to say I think we got a much better safari experience than most as Solomon was extremely experienced and knowledgeable about all the animals and land, whilst managing to get us to see animals usually without any other vehicles around. We really had a personal experience and rarely spent any time around the crowds elsewhere. We saw all the big 5 and more, we saw so many things I never thought we could see it was just unbelievable.
All the accomodation organised by Zohar was amazing, our favourite being The Singing grass camp- hearing the lions and hyenas outside our glamping tent was just unreal and the food was amazing.
All in all, this trip was truly an unforgettable experience and one I hope to have the opportunity to do again in future. I would recommend Zohar to anyone thinking of a safari with a personal, friendly touch with a way to beat the crowds and see some really surreal moments of nature.

The parks are too big to overwhelm one lion in Serengeti or Tarangire and because we deeply care about our guests' experience and so we have invested in our guides, they very experienced and know the bush intimately and we are super proud of the team that we have established!

Lilian and the entire Zohar team are the best company we could have asked for! Lilian was very easy to work with, accommodating to all our requests, and very responsive. We planned our entire itinerary with Zohar which included flying from mainland to Zanzibar to stay a few days, flying to Gombe National Park for chimp trekking, and flying into the Serengeti to start our 6 day safari. Lilian booked every stay we had and even scheduled all of our rides/flights which made everything very easy throughout our trip.
Our guides while we were in Gombe National Park were all very nice and helpful and we highly recommend staying at least a night at Mbali Mbali Gombe Lodge if you can. We saw a ton of velvet monkey and baboons around the lodge and several chimps when we trekked through the park.
Once we were in the Serengeti, we were picked up by Solomon, Daniel, and Goodluck with Zohar African Safaris and we couldn't have asked for better guides. They were all extremely knowledgeable of the animals, extremely nice, and went above and beyond each day so we could see as many animals as possible. We were able to see every animal we could possibly think of and more and we have Zohar to thank for that! Also, all of the places we stayed at were really nice and the food was excellent.
This was a trip of a lifetime and if we go back, we will be using Zohar African Safaris!

This was a first safari experience for myself and a friend, and Zohar had us spoiled for others we later experienced! Our guide was Tom, and he picked us up at our lodges in a timely manner, brought some small local snacks (and even stopped to buy us red bananas when I expressed interest after spotting a roadside sign!), and gifted us reusable water bottles with our names on them that we were able to fill up from a large jug throughout our tours. We experienced two full days with Tom (Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangeri National Park), which he fully customized to meet our interests. We could see SO MANY ANIMALS thanks to Tom's navigation skills, connections with other drivers, and radio communication. Tom was able to get us close to wildlife so that we could view them, but was always respectful of both the landscape and the animals. We were pleasantly surprised to be served a full hot lunch each day out in the wilderness on a table that Tom set up with linens and all! We had initially booked a different park/experience for our second day, but after getting to know us and our interests, Tom recommended Tarangeri instead. We were able to enjoy a walking tour with a ranger before our driving safari, and it was such a unique wildlife experience that we learned a lot from having enjoyed! Thanks to Zohar/Tom, we were able to see elephants, lions, dozens of birds species, zebras, hippos, wildebeest, baboons, buffalo, giraffes, warthogs, and plenty more that I haven't listed here. The car was fully stocked, felt safe and clean, and had cell phone charging capabilities. A friend had recommended Zohar after her tour several years ago and we can see why; you won't regret spending your safari money/time with this company!

Zohar team made every effort to make this the best vacation for us. The team led by Lillian is amazing. She is very detailed oriented and sent us so many instructions right after we booked. After reaching Kilimanjaro, David gave us a warm welcome and ride to our hotel. We had not received one of our checked in bags but Lillian assured us that they would track it with the airlines and deliver it to us as soon as possible. That was a great help. Solomon was our guide and driver. No words can describe his competence at his job. He made sure we had the best experience. On the third day, he took us to the southern Serengeti and almost drove for 3 hours in search of lions. Our patience and Solomon's persistence bore fruit as we saw two male lions with a pride of 24 lionesses and cubs. Then we camped at the Singing Grass and then at the Serengeti River Camp to see the migration. Solomon is always in contact with other drivers to make sure we are not missing anything. We were able to witness the amazing Great Migration. At every point, Lillian communicated with us to make sure we are having a great time. I would highly recommend Zohar team.

Amazing and memorable Safari experience, so unique and different from other trips! Serengeti and Ngorongoro are full of surprises and wonders! We saw what we came to see and that’s all because of our wonderful guide Solomon. He is so experienced, processing profound knowledge of animals, able to spot animals from miles away and predict their behaviors. Journey with him is so fun.
Hotel/lodge/camps we stayed are up to high standard and the views are breathtaking. And food is amazing.
Lilian and her team are amazing and professional, always there and willing to help throughout the trip and even beyond the trip. They are willing to accommodate to our needs, just like their slogan - With a more personalized touch! We will definitely and strongly recommend Zohar to our friends and families!

We would absolutely, wholeheartedly recommend Lilian and the entire Zohar team for your safari adventure. We chose Zohar for our honeymoon safari and we have to say it was one of the most memorable and incredible experience of our lives, credit entirely to Lillian and the team. Our guide Ahmed was incredibly knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure we got to see all that Tanzanian wildlife has to offer.
Every aspect of the trip was smooth, and we were happy to trust Zohar with planning the itinerary. This was our first time visiting Tanzania and Zohar safaris provided excellent support before, during and after our trip. We had a phenomenal 6 days organised by Josephine and the team at Zohar, starting in Arusha and then visiting Tarangiere, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater. We could not fault the companies communication, organisation and genuinely warm and friendly support whilst we were in Tanzania. We chose to stay in mid-range lodges/camps throughout our safari. The lodges we stayed in were clean, high quality and very comfortable. The beds in the Serena hotels were outstanding!
Our guide, Solomon, was a real asset to the team at Zohar. Anyone being guided by him will have an excellent time. He was professional, enthusiastic and made sure we always felt safe. He had an abundance of wildlife knowledge and was always trying to ensure we stopped and learned about what we were seeing, referencing encyclopaedias as we travelled. My partner is particularly interested in birds, and Solomon took a lot of time to point out specific birds he felt would be of interest. We are were also interested in photography, so Solomon spent time trying to position the safari truck with appropriate lighting for good shots. The days are long on safari (often 10-12 hours out in the bush!) but Solomon always made sure we were comfortable and happy with the timings and length of the day.
We noticed many other guides were very quiet or stayed sitting whilst their groups were watching the animals. Solomon often stood with us and explained about the animal, or specific animal behaviour. We felt very lucky to have him guiding us. He also had incredibly good eyesight and could spot lion/cheetah/leopard/rhino from hundreds of meters away! He was often the first guide to see an animal, and then other guides followed him.
The small extra touches provided by Zohar made the whole experience feel very special for us both. It was a trip organised for our honeymoon, and we were made to feel very special at each lodge we arrived at. The whole trip felt very personal to us both.
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Zohar to anyone who wants to feel genuinely welcomed by a company, provided with high quality guides and accommodation. We loved every day of our travels and hope to be able to return one day! Thank you for such an amazing once in a lifetime trip.

Hi ! My husband and I are looking to come in mid April to the Serengeti. However we were told that the rainy season doesn’t provide good sightings of game/ animals . This is our first time in Africa - so we wouldn’t want to be disappointed. Is this true?

Greetings from Tanzania!
April & May are heavy rain season months but it normally rains less in the bush. Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater can be visited throughout the year. During the rainy season, the grasses get longer (esp in Serengeti) and water is everywhere so the animals are scattered throughout the park. You may not see them in high concentrations such as you would during the dry season but they will be in abundance. With great a safari guide (who knows the bush intimately), a great experience is always guaranteed.
