A squeeze but a joyous affair!

One of the best things we did all holiday! It's a squeeze but it is joyous. Everyone seems to have a go at playing the instruments on board and singing, with locals on the street joining in.

We caught the train outside the Marhaba Beach complex on the main street. Like many have said, it appears to not have a fixed timetable. But go to a stop anytime after 2pm and one should arrive within 30mins. We got off at El Kantaoui and loved having a wonder round the stalls before catching the Noddy Train back home.

Remember to tell the driver where you want to get off!

Be prepared to wait and wait and wait.

We have just returned from Sousse, staying at the Riyadh Palm Hotel, Tunisia. We did look to go on this Noddy train but our experience not so good int hat we waited for the train to take usb o El Kantanue, some 20 miles along the beach road, to the Marina for a half day visit.

Having read a lot about this trip and recommended, we walked over to the pick up point on the beach near the Medina of Sousse, where 3 of these road driven trains are parked.

On approach we were advised that the train would be going to EL Kantanue in some 15 min, so please wait.

We needed up waiting or an hour plus and when we approached the operator, we wee advised it would take another hour or so as the train will only leave once full of passengers or so.

we had already waited an hour yet nothing had happened so we basically gave up and got a taxi at the same the cost for two to El Kantanue 10 TND.

We try to use this Noddy Train, not because it was so cheap to travel, but for a different experience to view Sousse and Port el Kantoui. Unfortunately it didn’t run till about 2 pm and there was no set timetable.

Noddy train - must do experience

We decided to use the Noddy train to go from Port El Kantaoui to Sousse and tehn back. Lively trip and fun. We had musicians, and on the return trip the carriages were rocking and moving up and down with people dancing.
Grat fun and a pleasurable way to spend an hour or two.

Wir waren auf Besichtigungstour in Sousse. Die Rückfahrt haben wir mit dem Noddy Train gemacht. Mit an Bord: zwei Musiker die mit Trommel und Flöte Arabische Musik spielten und Einheimische welche kräftig mitgesungen haben.
Für etwas mehr als einen Euro ein absolut gelungener Spass. Jederzeit wieder.

So much fun on the Noddy Train

Best 20 dinars (approx £5) spent for 4 of us, For 1.5 hour round trip from Port El Kantaoui to Souuse and back Such a laugh, a bumpy ride, with onboard singing and music by the locals while people on the pavements joining in as we went past, cars going past beeping their horns an joining in as well. A good chance to see what is around the area following the coast road and hotels. Times of the trains not very reliable bit hit and miss depending on time of the day !! Leaves the Port by the fairground.

Four of us caught the train from the Taxi area at Port el Kantaoui to go to Sousse, That trip was OK 5 TDN return each. Arrived around 11 ish walked around the area lunch drinks etc sat on the beach. At 245 asked what time train was leaving was told ten minutes. This ten minutes went on until 415 with repeated 10 minutes being told. After so long we asked for our return trip money back which after some time we got. We got a Taxi back for just 7 TDN. The drivers did not give a stuff there were four trains there at one time and not one moved for over 90 mins. They would start a train then turn it of they would tear your ticket then go for a snack and when you queried them they would say 10 mins and walk off. There is a board that says times are every 30 mins not a chance be prepared to wait a long time or get a taxi
