It stands out in residential areas. As the parking lot is located between the temple gate and the main hall, I am satisfied with this because the ceiling of the main hall also has a kaidan mawari (a round the altar) that connects the statue with the naru-ryu, the largest statue in Japan, and forget to check the unfinished statue of Nio.

One of the most impressive temples in Japan. I visited it late in the afternoon without the presence of tourists. Clean and quiet place, you admire it and enjoy the beautiful and quiet route around the temple

We decided to take a day trip to Kofu and visit shrines to collect the stamps at each temple/shrine we visited. This was one of my favorite temples as it had an unorthodox style not prevalent in the everyday Japanese temples.

This temple was built by Takeda Shingen during the Sengoku period. The Sanmon gate, the Kondo, was huge and powerful. The temple gate and the main hall are attractive from a tourist perspective.
The Treasure Museum contains the famous statues of Minamoto no Yoritomo and Minamoto no Sanetomo, which are also must-sees for history lovers.
The plants around the pond are well maintained, and the Great Buddha nearby is small but dignified.
The admission fee to the Kondo is 500 yen. If you have a ticket to see the Kondo, you can enter the Treasure House.

It's in the city of Kofu, but even if you set it on Google ButtigiegMap, it's still squiggly in proportion and confusing. It is a weekday, so there are few visitors.

There are lots of lovely buildings here to walk around and a huge incense burner which smelt lovely. While we were there, lots of ladies, wearing beautiful kimonos, came out from a tea ceremony. They looked beautiful and let us photograph them. There is also a pond with turtles. You can go and visit the hidden Buddha but are not allowed to see him so we didn't bother!
Just down from the temple is a wonderful shopping street where I bought lots of lovely gifts from the shops. There are also many places to eat or buy ice cream.

Zenkoji Temple in Nagano is famous, but this one is also wonderful. We clapped our hands at the Crying Dragon, saw the war drums that were used during the Battle of Kawanakajima, and then walked around the Kaidan. The Kaidan tour was really dark. You couldn't see anything, and it made me feel uneasy. It would be scary to go alone. This alone was well worth the trip.

Beautiful grounds surrounding a magnificent temple. A lovely, spiritual place to spend some time and view magnificent gardens.

In June, I visited "Motozenkoji" in Iida City, so I have been to Zenkoji in Nagano twice by car from Shizuoka, but it is a very long distance. This is my second visit to Kai Zenkoji since I came here in January this year. The parking lot is spacious, which is a blessing. It was a Saturday afternoon, but there were few visitors, so I visited during a sudden shower. It takes about two hours from Fujinomiya. You can also go by train.

Like Zenkoji Temple in Nagano, you can do a pilgrimage to the Kaidan. There are fewer people than you might expect, so you can actually go around alone depending on the timing. You can enjoy the Crying Dragon many times. The only problem is that you have to use public transportation to visit the temple.
